--I would like to see them drop one preseason game and add it back as a regular season game.. ---The additional game could be a neutral site game such as in San Antonio, Birmingham, Los Angeles, Montreal, Memphis, London, etc. I would keep the division games as home and home games and these neutral games as non-division ones.... These places could be the site of more than one neutral site game. It would help them create more interest in non-NFL cities and allow fans that normally don't go to games an opportunity to do so. --- I am not in favor of 18 games. The suggestion above doesn't really require players to do a lot more than they do now.

----They are the---- PHANTOMS ---
-
---Those are your problems as well. Congress, both parties, need to get busy and improve the situation. My complaint is all of those who are already so pessimistic that things will get worse plus are trying to blame the wrong people for the mess we are in.... Bush took a good economy with a surplus and left Obama with a poor economy and a rapidly increasing national debt. Likely things will get worse before they get better, things are that bad. Let us (both parties) hope the situation does change fairly quickly. Meanwhile Rush L. an some others are openly saying they hope Obama et al. fail.. That is un-American. Never have I wanted Bush or anyone in power to fail or make bad decisions.... I just think he did both... ---You comment points out the big problem... the you and me attitude.. I think we is better and these radio idiots (either side) don't help anything and divide America. The economy or any issue is not just a political game but a very serious issue. We need to hope anyone in power is successful.
-
--I don't but some here seem to think Obama is responsible for the mess we are in or at least try to blame him for it. That is being completely dishonest. . (my problems??) ---I doubt anyone considers Bush a southern hick... He was born in New England, only attended school in Midland until 8th grade, went to a New England preppie school, and even went to a New England College. Even both of his parents were from New England. How he is a considered a Southern hick? I have trouble even considering him a native Texan which he tries to call himself. Lord knows he is no Texas rancher.. he never even owned one cow until after he was elected President. As for oil man... his efforts basicly lost investor's money.... he once lived 1/2 mile from me. me -- 4th generation West Texan (from 1870's) that fed and worked cattle growing up. __________ -----I do agree with you on this, the economy is a BIG reason Obama won... that sounds like a great reason to change the party in the White House, the other party screwed it all up by removing so many financial controls.... You are also right... if nothing improves then he too will be gone and should be.
-
---The US Government got out of regulating much of Wall Street also the banking industry when they removed lending controls just that came into existence after the 1929 depression. The idea sounds great... but the greedy ones tend to screw things up. How did all of that turn out when we did. --- Sort of like just assuming kids in a elementary school class will behave and learn without supervision. Good theory, sounds great, ... doesn't work. ----Jobs -- they went overseas because of very, very cheap labor there... I suppose the government could reduce our min. wage back to $1.00 again as it was when I was in HS or even remove a min wage and they would come back... at least some of them. Our companies would get rich again and the "peasants" would become like the foreign ones.
-
--It was a dumb comment.. He is not first of either party to say something like this. He will learn to think about his comments. GWB made some really crazy ones as well. Be honest... if a GOP person made it, the reaction would be the same. ---Plus... who caused this mess that created the need for all these idiot bail-outs.

Some folks need to visit reality. The GOP lost and for good reason. 1. The national debt doubled during the last eight years which increased prices we pay for imported goods (includes oil and petroleum products.. includes plastic, chemical products, etc. ) ... The debt increased about 2% per years under Clinton..which was less than the interest rate on the debt. 2. The budget was balanced in 2000 and there was even a surplus and had been for the final six years under Clinton.. Every Bush budget had a large deficit. 3. Bush got us into a war based on the idea that Iraq had WMD and we were at risk despite the fact no terrorist act against us or Europe involved the Iraq government or even Iraq citizens. Sixteen of the nineteen involved in 9-11 were Saudi citizens.... as is Ben Laden... who is still on the loose. None had any Iraq connection. 4. The American economy is a total wreck and all these problems existed prior to the election last November. Most of these problems are due to the party in power removing financial controls on Wall Street and Banking. --They constantly yelled less government interference and they we got it --- and now we have bad economic times due to a meltdown of banking and Wall street companies. (thanks a lot to legislation written by Phil Gramm who also was somewhat involved in the Enron mess as well... that is why he he did not run for re-election for Senator from Texas In 2002). _________________ Obama is not at all responsible for our present mess... grow up and be honest about it. Clinton is not my favorite person and rather disgusting but our economic situation was in good shape when he left office... not true of Bush. Question; If you needed a lifesaving surgery, would you want great surgeon that was known to run around on his wife or a very religious surgeon that incompetant and many of his patients die? The same applies who the person in the White House.

--Thanks to WKU for respresenting the Sun Belt very well. You got one upset win and lost in the final second against a good team.. Here is hoping that the Belt can get two or more teams into the tournament next year. Wins by Belt teams help get all of us respect.

A 3:00 AM moonlight time would sound more appropriate. The activities of this Spring Training has more closely guarded than the Manhattan Project (the Atom Bomb). But then again if my team had allowed 500 points last year I would not want to talk to anyone either.

---I would consider Beasley Reece the best walk-on ever. He walked on for Hayden Fry, was drafted into the NFL during the ninth round (9th doesn't exist now) then he played for nine years in the NFL for the Cowboys, Giants, and Tampa Bay. He started for several years in NY as a safety beside Harry Carson, NFL hall of famer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beasley_Reece

Should Football Eliminate The Coin Toss?
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
-Suppose the coin toss is eliminated....... Who kicks off and how is it decided ???? -
Odd that you quote Gore.... since you are always discrediting him. The S.Berger state was true... In the Iran war which Reagan supported aagainst Iran but none of those had occured in the past ten years. ... some was used occured after the Gulf War against Kurds. Never had Iraq used them in a terroist act.. Ted Kennedy statement ... true ... but seeking nuclear weapons is not having them. Isreal bombed a Nuke program duing the early 80's ...about 20 years earlier.. They had done nothing since about nukes. He had not used chemical weapons against us in Gulf War. Kerry was correct-- the "threat" was real.... but nothing had been done to any European or to America. A lot others are threats also, North Korea, Iran, etc. The USSR and China have been threats to us as well. You can't attack on the basis of being a threat. Clinton enforced the no fly zone and monitored the possiblibily of a Irq weapons program... He is not saying they had any. Most of Congress just asumed the Bush administration statements were accurate, and voted to support him... even the resolution passed was not about absolute invasion just to support his decision. . After the vote, Hans Blix (German Inspector) requested more time to complete inspections (had found nothing) and the German government stated the sourse Bush was using was not credible. Just because you want it to be justified doesn' mean it is. Saddam was a very evil person... but at least Iraq was stable and not an rabid Islamic State such as exists in Iran. In fact if you look at who Saddam had been killing... it was the Islamic terrorist that we too feared.... He feared they would try to do in Iran what they had done in Iran. We had other more serious problems to deal with other than Saddam..

---20 wins in the regular season only is very tough and impressive. Several (including NT) get there as the result of being in a post season conference tournament. ... which is impressive but not quite as much. ---Congratulations to the basketball team..... lets get the football team to do as well. --- On a more personal note Midand College (30-3, community college) is representing West and North Texas after winning an eight team regional tournament this week. They were the JC National Champs in 2007, they defeated a 27-4 team in the regional final to get there, which puts them in the final 16. It takes seven consecutive postseason wins to win it all, they now have three. Hope NT keeps on eye on some of the better national JC players. Some former MC ones have been Spud Webb, Mookie Blaylock, and Rickey Grace... all later played in the NBA.... the final pair later started in an NCAA final.

---Many also hate free speech and the right to disagree (with them). PS: Financially they aren't really conservative. GWB doubled the national debt and RR tripled it. GW-I did much better and they refused to support his re-election...voted for Perot. BC increased it by a mere 1.8% per year...yet he is labeled a free-spender (by them). You won't hear that on Fox...LOL (as many goofy emails say in reverse). PS: Go check the facts and don't just believe the propoganda you hear... informed people will do that. I give "the conservative administration" credit for only three mistakes (really BIG ones) . 1. Iraq War that had no WMD. 2. A wrecked economy 3. Doubling the national debt.
-
---Conservative Republican... that term is an oxymoron... The national doubled under Bush... more than doubled under Reagan. (that is conservative?? spending more than is taken in) Now they think we should control the world.... invade Iraq and tell them to change everything (a Conservative would mind their own business and leaves other alone, people have a right to do as they wish, not our business) A conservative would not believe interference of other peoples lives on anything even on issues of birth contol or religion just as they think the government doesn' have any right to control guns. --- There is a lot of difference is the term conservative and what the GOP truly believes. There is great deal of difference in what most Democrats believe and how they are "pictured" as a group by those who want THEIR way. They are not pagan, socialist, lazy, dishonest, stupid, financially irresponsible, druggies, drunks, or anything else they seem to want to dream up that is negative... sure you can find some that are ... but the other group has them too.... We have had a few GOP Presidents that fit a few of those words. --Support America ... not blindly a political party or its propoganda. It is those false claims that turned me off to that Party in general. I once voted their way, still do on a few individuals that don't do that. .

Where to start??? ---Japan was already at war long before Pearl Harbour. (China) . The day they hit Pearl Harbor they hit Singapore, the Dutch Indies, the Philipines and other places which brought the USA, the British and the Dutch into the war against them... The Roosevelt comment is BS about goading them into war.. --- that is revisionist history that you claims exists.. ---We attacked no one in 1812... The British burned Washington, tried to take Baltimore ( Fort McHenry) and attacked New Orleans. True they were after our ships but not us after theirs. Goading Germany into War (Churchill or the media?) .....get serious... they had already taken Poland and occupied what is now Chech Republic. They were armed to the teeth and wanted war. The other un-named causes you mentioned were the causes. ____________________ ---Someone commented about the 10% I said that owned slaves, a chart I have found shows about 20%.. and most with a small number. the 30% is too many and very few owned 10 or more (1%). Even those that owned slaves usually owned two or less. (domestic and farm help) The States Rights mentioned is rather hokey... without the slavery issue existing... there would not have been a war. The Emancipation Proclamation was held back by Lincoln until they actually started winning some battles (Gettysberg and after) plus they did not want to get the people of Maryland up in arms (Slave state, controled by the North). They held back until they felt that were winning. Almost all early major battles are considered Southern victories.

--Until he screws up royally as Bush did in Iraq and the economy ...we should support his efforts or at least hope he gets good advice from both parties and not have one just sitting on their hands and criticizing with no decent ideas. They are elected to serve America, not a political party. ---The situation when Obama took office is horrible....unlike when Bush entered office. We are at War in Iraq, the economy is in the tank, the budget is a total mess, and the national debt has doubled in the past 8 years. When Bush took over we weren't at war (I agreed with Afganistan, we had to go there..he did a good job on that until Iraq), the economy was good except the dot-Com area which happened because about everyone by had then good computers and sales were dropping..remember Greenspans comment that warned about how irrational it was), the budget had a surplus and the arguement was "what to do with it?", and the national debt was stable (less than 2% climb per year from 1992-2000 and could have been decreased due to surplus if Congress had authorized it... (remember, surplus existed). ---All of these problems happened on Bush's term in office... How can you defend him unless your head is in the sand.?? That is completely irrational. We need this President and every President to succeed... and I don't care which party. He will make mistakes, all have... but overall he needs to do better than the last one for sure.... that should not very difficult. --To classify all Democrats as crazy liberals is as inaccurate as saying all Republicans are all super Rich Christian fanatics... neither is true. A few extremeists seem to think no taxes is the answer... but I guess they support no paved roads, public schools, military, public hospitals etc. I realize not all GOP people think that way but some try to paint them that way. Don't buy into every you hear on radio (or TV) by these guys making a fortune just saying anything to keep them on the air and making themselves lots of money. Think for yourself.... an NT degree does mean you know BS when you hear it... doesn't it.
-
---Good post... especially first line. The one about the "public believing what they hear if they hear it long enough" What do you think these radio crazies are doing... the same...... and at the same time trashing mainstream media and "liberal college" people who actually research the true facts and most are honest about it (not all of them of course) . The radio crazies have the platform to "brainwash" people hour after hour. When a large group of independent people ie. mainstream media (all four older networks and lots of independent news magazines and papers) are pretty much saying the same thing... .... just maybe they are telling it as it really is and not the one network that is different. Something to think about... Do you really think they get together to cook up these ideas, is that even possible?? --You are repeating a "falsehood" about Gore...He never claimed to invent the internet. The radio crazies regularly say that and apparently you now believe it ... His comment was about sponsoring legislation that put it into the public domain which is absolutely true. [ his comment was about creating the internet with his legislation...he did, just look it up... mainstream media checks facts, so can you ]... Making that false comment discredits your statement although you did make some some good points. This is what bothers me about many people ...they make make comment they know is not true (I hope you know the Gore one isn't) and uninformed people believe it. . As you stated if you say it long enough many people will believe it even if it is false. --- At least you proved your opening statement about people believing false statements.. (I appreciate you discrediting the extremists radio guys both directions) and their accuracy...Even if you did not intend to do so. If that is wrong, which it is, ... then we can assume that as lot of the rest they say is also false. WWII-- Come on--- no one ever said at that time thatwar would end the US depression.... It has been said after the fact that it put people to work and may have ended the depression but it was not any factor by the US of entering that war... more non-sense ..that wasn't happening. Once Pearl was bombed we had no choice anyway... they both declared war on us. Unlike some of those wars listed.... it was a war to even survive as a nation. The press had nothing to do with 1812 either... We attacked no one again.. it was an British extension of the Napoleonic Wars... they saw a possibility to retake the US. We fought no-where but our on soil and when attacked at sea. The media or even gov. had no blame at all in this or in WWII which you seem to be implying.. We were forced into both situations. Spanish American... you are absolutely right... we went in based largely on the hawkish effort of one network (actually Hurst newspapers, not Murdock which you may think I was implying) ... sorry for that slip up...hahahaha.... Interesting comment I have heard all my life --- War is usually a rich man's war and a poor man's fight. --one profits and the other dies.. WWII was a big exception..we did not start it, we were forced into it, and we had to win and both groups were in uniform. The Civil War sort of proves the statement... at least 90% of the South did not even own slaves.. but they fought and died so the wealthy could keep theirs.
-
--Listen to all the conservative radio... they are implying it.. (Obama fault. as for the 20% drop under Obama... true.. it dropped 40% during the previous administration's final months... asnd it dollar value that is FAR worse (5000 points vs. 1500). I don't hate Bush... just his decisions. He once lived a half mile from me and jogged by my house at times. As for the trying to divert blame to Clinton now*** (true he signed it... ok... but he did not invade and your statement about no UN observers in place prior to the Iraq invaison.. is not true at all ... Hans Blix.. of Germany was there and requested that the USA back off... and we didn't and went in on faulty information that the German government said was unreliable. This had been discussed enough... We just flat messed up .... He was the first US President EVER to invade a major country without first being provoked. 9-11 doesn't count.... no one from Iraq was involved. *** this is whole point about everything--- blame someone else for everything, don't admit any errors. ---- Iraq, the economy. or whatever. as I have heard so often in my work ... "IT IS NOT MY FAULT" -- it is time to grow up a bit and take responibility when wrong and quit hunting an escape goat. .

---In the mid 60's ..the MVC days... the Snake Pit was always filled on week days (not so on weekends...so many student would go to Dallas) . A lot it had to do with who was coming to town, Louisville, Drake, Bradley, Wichita, Cincinnati etc. and Memphis after I graduated. We had to show up for most of the freshman game in order get in (those no longer exist) . It was LOUD..! At one point my Senior year, five of the top 10 were MVC teams... the others were Kentucky, UCLA, North Carolina, and a couple of other ones. and yes me too... good job guys and coaches. Good luck against WKU..
-
--The last time we played them (WKU) we lost by four....... on their floor. not bad.

I realize the "creater" of this thread .. said for fun.. Would KingDL1 please explain why is first post is supposedly funny... most of us see no humor in in those claims. In fact-- list which ones are funny might be a great idea. I always need a good laugh....especially with the way the economy and stock market (includes my investments) has tanked starting last summer... you remember... starting back when Bush was President.... who later bailed out Wall Street and resulted in large CEO bonuses.
-
--- The GOP leadership is sure not what Truman represented .. who said "the buck stops here". ---The financial crisis started on the GOP watch and they had been in control nearly eight years and had controlled Congress as well most of the time. Anyone who ignores this is just blindly sticking ther head into the sand. They are not 100% to blame but to read some of these posts ... you would think Obama has messed it all up by himself in past two months. What he is doing may or may not work...but he did not start this mess ...and is trying to do his best to clean it all up.. He will need the help of both parties. We are both Americans and that what should be done. For politicians to stand on the sideline and assign blame is wrong... [ Americans would be better off if Rush and the other radio guys ..both extremes would just shut up.. they divide America and make a personal fortune doing it... it is about their personal greed.. not about being patriotic and wanting to be helpful] . This is serious stuff... not a political game. They are elected to serve America ..not to serve a political party. ---Almost all of this entire thing goes back to problems with Wall Street and the Banking industry... which pretty much what the problem was in 1929. They because of personal and corporate greed can not be trusted to do what it best for everyone. I am not including smaller financial institutions such as home owned banks. Blame who you wish but the controls left from Wall Street el. al. should have never happened. Granted P.Gramm is not fully responsible but his name is on many of those bills and he was taking credit for them... to me he still gets a lot of the credit. --I am not near as party oriented as some think... for vote for both groups... but Iraq and doubling national is not something I agreed with. Doubling the debt is not conservative at all.. as as for being morally conservative.. both parties have have way too many scandels. neither is any better (or worse) than the other....despite come claims. I do not consider myself a liberal even... just not blindly conservative that I accept everything any party claims as true or accurate or that if you oppose anyone you are a unpatriotic pagan socialist... some has been done often the past few years. If that is true you could make the same claim about those who oppose the current group in Washington.
