----Conservative has little meaning anymore....What issue.?? Financial conservative means not speading more than you take in...[the last administration sure didn't fit that one.. increased the debt more than the previous 200 years and the laws passed then are still in efect and it is still growing].. Religious conservious is pretty much believe as I do or you just aren't Christian enough. [ Romney is getting hit by that one and some think Obama is Islamic or worse ] Some religious conservative groups would love for prohibition to be in effect...no beer or drinking..ever... To some cConservative means less government interference but some want the government to tell women even if raped or a young minor pregnant that they must have the kid. There are the "conservative" T-party people... they just don't want to pay taxes but oddly still want to live in country with good schools, police, firemen, hospitals, good military.. so who pays then??... ---Conservative in general means little or no change.... which America never has been about. The conservatives in 1776 [Torys } did not even want to break from Britain. We broke free and the government we created in terms of a pre-1800 world sure was not conservative.... The people had a voice....a big one.... not just a group of aristocrats which was true in most of the world. --Most of us are conservative on some issues an somewhat liberal on others. I consider myself a financial conservative...hate debt.... but not so much on the other ones. --In short: Think for yourself ...and what is best for America.. signed The King of France (just because I say I am not does mean I am... same with the term "conservative" (see national finances after 2001 .. what was claimed and has happened is a "bit" different ). ..

---Everyone...NO .... but I do think those making millions each each year on capital gains should not just pay 15% while I and probably you, are paying 25% (or more) on any additional income that I am getting. Don't have a chart in front on me now but if you are making $68,000 or more after the usual deductions.... you are paying 25% on that part of your income.... maybe as much 35%...ie. much higher rate than those making millions. I have no problem with paying 15% on a reasonable amount ($100,000 ?) but above that amount should taxes at a reasonable rate... it was just 20% on capital gains when Clinton left office and the debt was not growing over 2%. I WANT US TO QUIT GOING INTO MORE DEBT and firing teachers, and a lot of other needed personnel is not the answer. No one likes paying taxes... and I don't even like paying my electric bill... but I have to maintain a decent standard of living.... also taxes to have a safe country with highways, police, hospitals, an educated public, etc.... We are not soaking the rich..... wake up... they are paying a smaller rate than YOU.... You are buying a false idea...

Maybe that is true about Greece BUT when Clinton left the Debt was $5.5 trillion. When the next guy left after the tax cuts the debt was $11 trillion The increase equaled the previous 200+ years. Well it is now $15 trillion and Congress will not pass anything... partisian politics.. and all the tax cuts are still in place.. So who are you blaming and should get the blame???? Guess you want those guys back in... the ones that controled the White House and both houses of Congress when it all went to Hell ???? The truth just isn't what you want it to be. Real Conservatives don't spend far more they they take in.... and they did. ..

---In a travel book I was reading last week[ DK Eyewitness Travel... a well known series ]. It stated that Italy had the lowest birth rate in Europe.... hmmmm.... The Pope lives in Rome (Vatican City) ....obviously a lot of those Italians (and Catholics) are not following the Pope's mandate about opposing contraception.. either that or those hot-blooded Italian men aren't as advertised (which having been there several times.. I know isn't true..) They pursue about any woman... had to run several off from female-students that were traveling with me. Also remember their Bunga-Bunga President recently??? --Pretty much the Catholic outrage is from the priests not their general public... and they have other worse problems they need to address. Perhaps it is those guys that need to be excommunicated... They even tossed Galileo out for saying the Earth revolved around the Sun...instead of that we were the center of the universe.. You are right about gasoline prices BUT...... the gasoline price had been around $4.00 all summer of 2008 and I actually paid over that several times.... Let's tell the whole truth not just the partial truth.... the gasoline price crashed in fall of 2008 along with a 6000 point drop in the DOW and all the financial bail-outs and the beginning of bad unemployment and lots of home repos... Gasoline is now cheaper than the summer of 2008... and this is 4 years later. Why don't you brag about how good the DOW was then ????????.. and compare that to now..... it is up about 6000. Very selective and misleading stats you quote. Pure political predjudice???? and not the real truth? .. ..While you are at it --- brag about the national debt during that "conservative" period.... it doubled after the tax cuts which means it increased as much in that period then as in all the previous 200+ years combined.. $4.98 .... holy moly ... you need to change stores.... I can get it for $3.00 most of the time... $3.99 if I am unlucky. ... or did you just exagerate that too.. ????? BE CONSERVATIVE, don't be so GOP-ish... shop around... hahaha ..

...Nope ...dropping gas prices did them no good in 2008. I doubt they really meant to do all that happened anyway. Most of the increase is all about the international situation... and no President is ruler of the world. Part of the increase may be from the idiots on Wall Street speculating (again).... They and big banks (after so many regulations were removed) were responsible for the last big mess and we still haven't recovered.

---If you think during 2001-2009 was a conservative period... you weren't paying attention. We had the most liberal spending government ever.. spending so much the debt equaled all previous 42 Presidents.. ---Spending more than you take in is not conservative....and that is exactly what happened ( I don't care what they claim ..what they do matters)...and we even gave tax cuts especially to the very high income people, which reduced federal income taken in..... I would not say those tax cuts helped the economy any.... look at it after as of Jan 2009....

In 2008 the price dropped from $4.00 that summer to under $2.00 around election time...... but having to bail out banks, the having the DOW drop over 6000 plus the beginning of high unemployment, seemed a bit drastic... just to get the gas prices down.. hahaha If Gasoline gets to $4.00 a gallon... it will be back to what it was in summer of 2008.... I remember because I drove to Florida that summer.... and the only time I paid less than $4 was in Texas and even then $3.90+. Four years later it is still cheaper than then... even with the troubles in the Middle East and increased usaage in Asia. ..

---I disgree with the Reagean comment a lot.... He was Christian, but did not make a big deal of it.... It started bothering me when Falwell, Pat Robinson, and others on TV started mixing religion and politics. The worse I have heard came from Michael Reagan [ adopted son of former -president and not close to his other children] a few years ago on his radio program which ..was happened to be on when I got into car.. He commented something to the effect that ..."All real Christians vote Republican and if you weren't then you should really question the fact that you were truly a Christian". --- I did vote for Reagan and even George Bush SR.... but not since then because of the attitudes that have evolved since the mid 90's....... also their running up the US debt ...plus screwing up the Texas budget and the lack of real support for education [ instead of just saying conservative and claiming to be pro-education ]. He lived with his white grandparents from age 8 or 9 until out of high School... He never lived in a black neighborhood until out of college and I am not even sure he ever has.. --A hospital is not a church....even if they administer it.... every hospital takes federal money in the form of medicare and other ways.... That gives them the right to have "some" voice" in what is going on... Plus a hospital serves the general public and not just its members. ---I agree with you that the government has NO voice in what is going on at a church as long as it is not violating laws such as abusing kids or defrauding people. --- Schools ... not a church ...but.. maybe or maybe not....is it taking government money in any way? If not...no voice .... if so... they get some control. ---People absolutely have a choice to attend or not attend a private denominational school.... hospitals maybe not.. sometimes there are no other options available..... they are pretty much public items even if they have a religion's name in the Hospital name.. The church doesn't even get close to providing the entire financial support of a hospital, it is not religious donations but the public (fees) and taxpayers (medicare for example) that do. ---Accidentally ran across this yesterday while reading a "Eyewitness guide of Greece"(p.19)... It has the 2ed lowest birth rate in Europe....behind Italy.....which is where the Pope is and highly Catholic. ...... How many involved in 9-11 were from Iraq or had ever lived there? ..........none.. Congress was told by the administration that Iraq had a nuke program ........ Which it didn't... The info was supplied by "curveball", who was from Iraq and lived in Germany. The Germans even said he was lying. Don't claim Iraq had anything to do with 9-11. Even Bush said it didn't....later. Afghanistan.. no problem ... maybe just how long. In all other war-time situations, the government raised taxes some to pay for it... not this time.. they were cut.

HELL NO.... But when did the debt start getting out of control...2001.. and doubled in 8 years. This President did not mess up the national debt or screw up the economy in 2008. It is just still screwed up because Congress will do nothing.. --Real FINANCIAL-LIBERALS such as you seem to support what happened after 2001 that doubled our debt and think that was just fine. CONSERVATIVES such as I am hate debt and dislike what happened since Clinton left..office...Some here claim he was liberal....NUTS.... the debt increased less than 2% a year in his administration. When did the debt get out of control...starting 2001 and never curbed....who controled the White House and Congress during that period...the people you say was conservative but weren't. Left or right... what issue....religious or financial... or what? Some want to put everyone in a certain box. ---Mrs. Roosevelt, Lady Bird, Jackie Kennedy, Mrs Ford, Nancy Reagan, Hillary Clinton and even Laura Bush were far from keeping quiet and out of the public eye... No Child Left Behind exists partially because of Laura Bush who had worked in public schools prior to being married.... Some were nearly invisible..Pat Nixon, Bess Truman, and Mammie Eisenhower and Barbara Bush usually but not all the time....but not most.... The very personal attacks on Obama's wife are inappropiate including weight and so much more. Those days of nearly invisible First Ladies are pretty over with womens rights and mass media existing now.... You might argue Hillary might have been fair game somewhat [ lawyer and very, very vocal ] but not the rest. Note GM reported RECORD profits today... this is heading the right direction. Doubt any of the candidates mention that one... they delight in pointing to any problems America is having..

I am not crediting anyone ...but.. the economy is sure not as bad as some candidates are reporting who seem to delight in the fact that America could be doing better. It takes time to recover from the 2008 meltdown just as it takes time to stop a car and get back up to speed. Never has recovery happened overnight. Doubt those same candidates will mention this. ..

A FEW??? You are kidding... it was even a big issue in Ireland {an extremely Catholic country ]when I was there last year... all over the TV news there too.. It is an big issue out here in West Texas as well..

---I pretty sure that any hospital with a religious name collects a lot MORE money from the Federal government than than do from their "supporting" church in donations..... They take medicare and insurance from federal employees... that is federal money.. If they only serve Catholics and take no federal money then they should entirely be able to make their own rules.... but they don't. If they take federal money, even medicare, especailly from non-Catholic patients....then the government has a voice in the matter.....can't have it both ways.... Can't take the money but give them no voice..... ---They even sell bonds to build or upgrade them....and they are sold to the PUBLIC not just people who are members of their faith.. Taking Federal money plus serving the general public makes any institution a public one to some extent... even if the name involves a religion. ---The same for schools...the government has no say unless they are paying money to the school.... which is exactly what happen at churches.. no federal/state support...but if they take government grants and even tuition from government sourses... the rules change. ..
