  1. ---He was not a good guy by any standards ... but what happened was completely uncalled for.... I was once shot at by a cop late at night when I was on the job where I was supposed to be [ didn't even know he was there and he gave me no warning, thought I was a burgler]. I respect the police greatly but they have their idiots too. In today's world he would have been fired and should have been, but wasn't.
  2. -- "Money Games" ... and don't even consider Baylor and TCU those. Surely there are some we stand a chance to do well or win.
  3. They have won 15 games total in 5 years..... or averaging 3-9 per season. Their last winning season was 2002. I'm not so sure I would be complaining much about "easier" opponents showing up.
  4. "I am going to bring my ray-gun." -- John Hickley
  5. "All good Christians should own a gun." --- John Wesley Hardin.
  6. So now everyone is left of Fox and the ultra -right [ ie. Liberal socialists] ... including the media and people in other countries. Now the British and ALL American media (except) Fox are liars.... That makes sense to you.??? If you are Shaq... then everyone else is short .... or using your football comment. .....when you get to the right end goal post.... all of the field is left of you. So now both the Democrats and Republicans are too Liberal and Socialistic for you [ along with the media in every country on the earth.].. WOW .. and only you and a few others know what is right and what to do ....suggestion: Form your own party and inform America what the answers are...
  7. "Curveball" (the only sourse Bush had) admitted he lied, and worse the Germans kept saying he was lying.. he was in Germany when he claimed to be in Iraq "seeing" those WMD. http://www.guardian....d-lies-iraq-war from article... note this was known before the Powell speech and before the invasion. ---- . It also follows the release of former defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld's memoirs, in which he admitted Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction programme. The careers of both men were seriously damaged by their use of Janabi's claims, which he now says could have been – and were – discredited well before Powell's landmark speech to the UN on 5 February 2003. ----- I am not exactly saying Bush lied but that he just believed what he wanted to be true even though the evidence demonstated it wasn't. As a result it cost us billions and 100's of lives. Read the internet.. a lot of these articles are out there--- this is British.... not political. -- I'm sure you never see this stuff on Fox. That is the problem when one believes the "ONE" instead of the many ( which don't tell you what you want to hear .. so you call them Liberal liars ) ...
  8. It was $4.00 that summer... then it fell to under $2.00 late that fall after the banking crisis and bailouts... You are twisting the truth to fit what you want to be true. Nothing I said is false.
  9. Maybe .... but it works for the people who listen to Fox.
  10. --Actually is more about those who live in large cities.... and it so happens that they are mostly Democrat... You won't find a rural type Democrat anywhere that wants to do that... we need them and use them......Maybe assault guns... who hunts or shoots snakes and varmints with those... they are strictly made for killing people. --- The really vocal gun crazies love assault weapons as do drug gangs... most gun users have absolutely no use for them.. when was the last time you heard of one being used for home or personal protection.... ???? Re police comment: I guess you are aware the soldiers unless in an immediate dangerous situation never carry rounds IN there weapons.... all about safety.
  11. Obama inflation is insane.. such a bad guy... I paid $4.00 per gal. all the way to Florida in 2008 (except once in Texas). I filled up this week for $3.38 and it is $3.15 in Lubbock . This inflation is awful four years later. Plus unemployment in 2008 was climbing rapidly at the end of 2008, houses being repo-ed, car companies about to go under, and we had just bailed out banks.. and the Dow had dropped 6000. Things are so much worse now (sarcasm). Nothing like a little 'bearing false witness" by the party that claims to be so Christian while claiming the other isn't. Guess there are only 9 Commandments now.
  12. --- My father was on a jury that convicted a driver for shooting (and killing) a policeman when he walked up to his car window. He got the chair. [ Texas, 1948 ]
  13. ---I thought Obama was going to take away all of our guns after his election ..... what happened?? I don't even remember any effort to do that.. That is what the ultra right, the gun companies, and the NRA kept saying in 2008... Were they "bearing false witness", If so that wasn't very Christian of them. Now we have all these people who have no clue how to use one owning one. --- I noticed that gun sales really increased then and the NRA gained membership... could it have been a "ploy" to get more members and to sell guns and ammunition.... Surely not..! (sarcasm)
  14. ---I don't know the rules that well but I rather doubt they will recruit three more players.... if the scholarships are used I think they will be given to three current walk-ons. [ my guess ] I seriously doubt they will ever reappear again on the OU team... Stoops is no Barry Switzer, who broke every rule in the book.
  15. Notre Dame has a geat TV deal... it would cost them money. BE looks pretty unstable.... doubt there is much interest to join now... by anyone. Air Force being more of a National team and really not a regional one might consider it ... but I sorta doubt it.
  16. Had we been admitted to the SWC.... we would have remained I-A.. SMU convinced the other private schools in the region [ TCU and Baylor ] that they didn't want a large Stet school in the area to compete with... A vote was never taken but 3 opposiing it was one too many.
  17. Frank Broyles.... what does Art Bryles or Briles have to do with anything.
  18. Two NFL first rd picks on that team... Joe Green and Cedric Hardeman, the QB [ Ramsey ] started for Denver several years, and the Ron Shanklin (above) played on the first Steeler team to win a Super Bowl and several more played in the NFL. No doubt it was the most talented team UNT ever had. The Coach rod rust later coached the New England Patroits.
  19. . --- High schools play ten regular season games ... and not 12 as colleges do ( 13 if they have a conference championship game) . Four more games after the 12 might make some sense, and four more games would mean a 16 team tournament.... many colleges play two more now anyway... a conference championship and a bowl game (14).. so the two additional ones would only involve 4 teams in a semi-final and final games. --- Besides... after the sixteen better teams, how many really have a decent chance at winning it all... likely none. They might win one or even two rounds. but all four, or maybe five..??? ...very unlikely. --- I wish HS in Texas would go back to just two teams in a district advance. How many 3rd place teams are worth a darn... very few. ------------------------------ *****The present holiday bowl system would not have to be trashed.... how many of those bowls have any bearing now of the "supposedly" champion... about one..... Teams not picked in the 16 could still play in the holiday bowls... They were originally considered a reward for a good season and now a getaway for fans and a moneymaker for the cities that host them. -- In fact the AP poll in the 60's did not even consider the bowl game results in its final vote.... likely because those teams had not played a game in a month and often gave odd results.... some teams took them very seriously, some didn't, just a fun time. ----------------------------- #### Your interest statement on profile is so accurate... in 67-68, the black players we had weren't allowed to attend SWC or SEC schools when they left HS so we had a lot of great ones... that team was unbelievable great [ that same reason worked well for Texas Western and UCLA in basketball ]... also your statement about hiring the wrong person is correct too.. never understood that one ####
  20. . Did not realize Love was a Juco..... fits the above ....probably overlooked because was rather short...but he played football and some basketball at NT... and later the Redskins.
  21. ----I work at at a Juco.... When you talk football... I tend to agree with you... basketball... not so much. Athletes at Jucos tend to be there for several reasons ... 1. Could not pass the SAT with high enough score [ several here, that was a problem but did well later in 4-yr colleges and some even made NBA ] 2. As you said, they were overlooked at HS level because of physical immaturity or size [spud Webb] or perhaps as you said lack of HS playing time or playing in a system or with a team that did not show their real ability. [ Aaron Rodgers & Cam Newton played at a Juco ] 3. In sports other than football, foreign students with poor language skills and perhaps unknown athlete history.... needed to improve language and skills before moving on. 4. Just not that good... at least coming out of HS. 5. Questionable academic ability... not same as SAT score. (some may just test poorly) .... These may improve when out of bad home environment they grew up in. .... In basketball anyway... The Juco kids that get to move on have been playing a lot .... and gained a lot of valuable competitive experience instead of sitting on a bench. Many Juco basketball teams could give a lot of 4-year programs fits... Because basketball teams are rather small compared to football, a lot of talent slips by 4-year schools coming out of HS. I don't think that applies to football as much. .
  22. It would require 6 more weeks of college football ... will never happen...[ 18 weeks total ..longer than the NFL ] 16 or 8 would be 4 or 3 weeks with only four (or two) teams playing the final two... that might happen. Now a few play 14 ( if they have a conference playoff and a bowl game) and that is a lot to ask of students who get zero pay [ well most places ].. .
  23. Sr. Greatness: Just remember what I said...... and where you read it. ..
  24. . --- I can't imagine them cancelling a game with us now.... I am sure they would love to but unless they can replace us with a BIG-12 team, it won't happen... You can see the crowds ... they need us so they can fill the stands for at least a few games and that we would likely do. ---They are learning...... "The old grey Pony ain't what she used to be." ........ -----They made a big mistake going to the Big East and part II of that mistake is: It allowed us to join CUSA which contains a lot of regional teams and for us to get the upper hand over them and to get a lot more Texas and Dallas area attention... Part II will likely the worst part of it for them. .
  25. --- Don't worry about what we can't control.... worry about taking care of business and winning games... We finally are going to be in a conference that will generate more interest and I think will produce more fans and Texas media attention.... which helps recruiting and recognition. --- I would like to see us keep at least one area non-conf game on the schedule also.... such as Houston, TxTech, Baylor, Oklahoma St, Tx State, TCU, or even NMSU but not a team that we have about zero chance of looking good in [ being a body bag team ]. I don't think being on the wrong end of a lopsided score helps us at all except maybe at the bank. ---Playing a regional games will help us get more media attention and we need that now. SMU might too but I don't just want us to fill their stands and help them after all the disrespect they have shown us (and about everyone else in the region). Let them rot with their near empty stadium ...
