  1. Scam??? ... so you think think the 1000's of companies in many countries got together and fixed the price?? There really are 1000's producing oil from the ground not just the few we buy gasoline from. Probably most production is from independent operators.. not large well known companies... [ maybe not in deep sea drilling ] ---Part of the price going up is due to speculators on Wall Street buying futures at unreasonable prices ... part is the increased demand of Asia. Lately the price per barrel of oil has been dropping and those that were buying futures likely are losing money. Buying those is a lot like going to Vegas. If you want to blame someone.... Wall Street guys get most of the "credit"... the rest is supply/demand. ---Where does the article say scam?? If there was one at all it hit the people buying futures and thinking they were getting a good deal based on faulty beliefs then losing their shirt as prices dropped to true values. . ..
  2. First time I remember Andy G. was the movie "No Time for Sergeants" (1958). Don Knotts had a minor role in that movie. Several crazy scenes but the bar-room scene and the visit with the psychologist are my favorites. From: IMDB.com Maj. Demming: I think that I would rather live in the rottenest pig sty in Tennessee or Alabama than the fanciest mansion in all of Georgia. How about that? Will Stockdale: Well, sir... I think where you wanna live is your business. Maj. Demming: Do you get along alright with your mother? Will Stockdale: No, sir, I can't hardly say that I do... Maj. Demming: Oh, I see. She's very strict with you; she's always hovering over you, hmm? Will Stockdale: No, sir, just the opposite. Maj. Demming: Oh, she's never there? Will Stockdale: That's right. Maj. Demming: And you, uh, you resent this neglect, don't you? Will Stockdale: Well, no, sir. I don't resent nothin'. Maj. Demming: Ah, come now, son. Now don't be bashful - that's a common situation. Does, uh, she beat you? Will Stockdale: Naw! Maj. Demming: [he chuckles] Oh, so defensive. Well, it's not easy to talk about your mother, is it? Will Stockdale: No sir, see, she died when I was born.. _________ Love that movie...
  3. I found the first apperance of Andy Taylor-- Danny Thomas Show... aka. Make Room for Daddy: ------ Danny is arrested by Sheriff Andy Taylor for going through an unnoticed stop sign in the town of Mayberry. I had never heard that before. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0639971/ From IMDB.com According to Andy Griffith, the show's original premise was to follow the story line set up in his appearance on "Make Room For Daddy". The premise was that Mayberry was so small that Andy Taylor was not only the sheriff, but the Justice of the Peace, the editor of the local newspaper, and the mayor. However when it came time to write the series, Andy decided that was too ridiculous so he asked that Andy Taylor's duties be confined to being the sheriff and the justice of the peace. However the "Justice of the Peace" task was used sparingly and usually only with out-of-town troublemakers. ..
  4. ---Other than "Big Bang", today's comedy shows aren't worth much (my opinion). Can't watch all those reality things...cheap to produce. Andy Griffith show was 100% clean and anyone in family could watch, those don't exist now. .
  5. My opinion: I doubt the playoff system will have more than 8 teams .... How many teams ranked 9 or beyond have any chance of winning it all . That would be 3 playoff weeks and now there will be two. The absolute max would be 12 so to include conferences the a 8 team playoff would not. Even then it would be unlikely that any team would play more than 3 playoff games because the champion will likely be ranked in the top 4 which will have a bye in week one. 16 teams .... that would mean 1-4 would play 13-16 ranked... Football isn't basketball and rarely do those get upset either. I see no point to it, football is so physical and players are not getting paid for this much abuse. .
  6. I have idea what that list is but almost always baylor has the highest Bar exam rates..... I know a lot of lawyers in West Texas towns and they don't have much respect for SMU and very few are out here. The time my son took the Bar , Texas, SMU, WTU were very similiar [within 2% of each other ] on passing rates and Tech was down some that exam.. Texas Southern is consistantly pretty bad. My friends say SMU is ok if you stay near Dallas, not so much otherwise... no idea why. Your Texas Wesleyian comment is way off.. Several aren't even close.
  7. The current Dallas County District Attorney is a TWU grad, I believe the previous ones were from SMU,and did some very unethical things, and locked up a lot of innocent people: My son graduated at WTU a couple years ago and he and partner [ plus a Tulsa team ] represented the Southwest region in a national negotiation contest, WTU and Tulsa went... UT, TTU, Baylor, SMU, Houston, Tulane, etc. didn't get to go, They defeated them. My son took out SMU head to head then called me up laughing big time on how terrible they were and how mad the SMU prof was. . ____ Craig Watkins District Attorney of Dallas County, Texas Incumbent Assumed office January 1, 2007 Preceded by Bill Hill Alma mater Texas Wesleyan University School of Law Craig Watkins is currently the district attorney for the Dallas County, Texas, USA. He became the first African American district attorney in Texas when he was elected in 2006. Watkins has worked to resolve cases of wrongful conviction through the use of DNA testing and the review of evidence illegally withheld from defense attorneys. The Dallas Morning News selected Watkins as its 2008 Texan of the Year.
  8. http://www.star-tele...ans-to-buy.html From article: Regents is expected to meet later this week to take up the proposed agreement. If approved, it would be one of two public law schools in North Texas. The University of North Texas System is scheduled to open a law school in Dallas in the fall of 2014 in the Old Municipal Building in downtown Dallas to be called the UNT at Dallas College of Law. Recruiting of students won't start until fall 2013. --
  9. They were vistors ... idiots can get in. Note--- the White House officials disapproved of what they did. Tell the whole truth again.... and don't make it look like the current resident approved, they didn't. Your sourse, Washington Times, is an extreme news paper printed by the Unification Church founded by Sun Myung Moon by aka Moonies ... A South Korean odd sect.. .
  10. Guess I missed it but Olawale, Jamize is also listed on Yahoo Cowboy roster page as a fullback from North Texas..
  11. Yahoo is listing him on his page as at N.O..... but N.O. roster does not list him.. He shows five actives years was on IR last year.
  12. ---I think they get a little, enough to meet expenses, but not enough to call it a salary. The contract doesn't kick in until they make the team (first week of season) . Most undrafted ones just get a league minimum salary...when the season starts.. --Apparently the NFL league minimim is $405,000 once you make the team... [ lowest salary I see listed ] not sure what practice squad players make but it is less.
  13. I realize that a drivers license works ... if you are on the rolls .... but if you didn't get a card in the mail... don't assume you are registered.
  14. Interesting that this article shows up today also.. ----Just my opinion it seems the radicals on both sides are a bit wacky.... Nothing like as bad as some (includes Rick author earlier) wanted to claim but it exists somewhat. Why... who knows??.... just natural variation or ....man might be contributing some . While in Alaska a couple of years ago they were claiming that every glacier there ( 100's) except 4 are slowly getting smaller and the four that aren't are at sea level and are growing because of upstream melting and making them larger.. ---- We have 100's of those wind turbines in West Texas that sends power to the metro-plex.... they aren't the answer ... but they do contribute to the power grid. ..and they are ugly.. ------------------------------- The quote at the end of Rick's article ( he quoted it) sums it all up and hits both extremes: Finally, about claims “the science is settled” on global warming: “One thing that being a scientist has taught me is that you can never be certain about anything. You never know the truth. You can only approach it and hope to get a bit nearer to it each time. You iterate towards the truth. You don’t know it.” ---
  15. --- You are probably mostly right ..... and they were very irresponsible in not reporting the "Whole Truth". Some national networks did show the whole tape in/near the beginning [i I saw it about that time ] but I suspect the local station didn't and that is where the riots were.... so they happened. --- Not reporting the whole story on anything creates division and hate.... this event, political , anything... that is why I dislike NEWS stories that do this... This and the Rush Limbough types are also a huge reason why America is so divided now. Both parties are Christian, both are patriotic, no one likes taxes but all want a good quality of life, and both want what is best for America but I dislike the fact that so many have signed a pledge of allegiance to a no-tax person [Norquest ] instead of America and what it needs. News sourses needs to be honest and not inflamatory...
  16. ---Vegas lines are all about getting the same money to bet on both sides.... and not football reality... Houston is the bigger name here obviously ... so I say the line is too high, we may not win but we beat the 23 points.
  17. ---I doubt CUSA will ever see them again as members ..... the group will likely try just split off from BE and try to find some teams to join them. I am glad SMU left CUSA because it opened the door for us but I think they messed up two ways.... They didn't improve themselves any and it let us in the CUSA door which now might be bad for them because they have only one somewhat local team in their conference.. and now we likely will draw more regional attention... They need us to play them more than we need them now... They need some regional teams to show up in Dallas and someone to buy tickets.....
  18. I see Egypt has elected person from the Muslim Brotherhood as president ... that likely is not good..... mixing religion and government is a recipe for disaster..
  19. ---Pretty much agree but the longer version MIGHT have prevented or at least lessened it .... It took something to trigger it all... and this did. The crazy thing is they pretty much destroyed their own neighborhood and a lot of businesses never returned ....how stupid were they? Why the addition to my "name"? -- &#045 ...cussing? and and an interesting number?? .. or just a mess up? ----- Geeez ... some of yawl view everything as liberal or conservative... and that the media is the enemy... it was bad journalism [ just tell the whole truth which I am always "preaching" ] ..... and not any effort to cause a riot... Just because someones disagrees with you on something doesn't mean they are a pagan liberal socialist..
  20. Texas sends out voter registration cards.... if you don't get one... then check on the situation. Not that difficult. This year was a bit strange because of the lawsuit that delayed the primary from March to May and also delayed mailing the cards.
  21. --- The full tape does show they were justified in the beginning but they way over did it.... You are right that what most media showed was not fully accurate.. By showing only part of what had happened it likely led to the insane riots... had they shown all of it the part before the beating... the riots likely would not been so severe or not happened at all because people would not have been so outraged. --- This is why I get ticked at one NEWS network that regularly makes claims that may be partially true but but no means tell the whole truth. The whole truth is what matters. if they report it as news it should be true (and double/triple checked) and as accurate as possible. Don't imply things might be true when you are pretty sure they aren't and don't leave the wrong impression about things either. That isn't what journalism should be. ---Current example is getting upset about the Executive priviledge deal (his first) like it has never happened before... well maybe they have a small point... but the previous president did it six times and also had a program that provided guns to drug dealers...[ hoping they kill each other off ]... as did the Reagan administation in the Iran-Contra deal.. Just tell the whole truth.. All were terrribly stupid "programs". _______________________________________ Over the past year, Justice officials have turned over 7,600 documents relating to the operation, as well as documents relating to another operation involving “gun-walking,” as the tactic is known, in the George W. Bush administration. ________________________________________ Both were equally stupid programs... ..
  22. ---Joining CUSA should help us in recruiting... more recognized plus we will play some teasm in texas area that are well known...
  23. Re 40%: true and mostly false... many reported it... Fox stated in last three years (under Obama) watch them say it. http://2012.talkingp...omney-doocy.php Re: Medrasa watch the Fox retraction: http://www.newshound...rassa_claim.php As for the birth certificate issue... so many on Fox reported it as fact.. and the others said it was an issue to be investigated... Big difference. Thank for the insult.. [ a regurgitating Internet drone ] ..a sign of real class. note the videos are of FOX itself... not some "rumor".
  24. I have no problem with it being conservative somewhat... just tell the truth.... the were reporting spy drones last week being used in the USA by the USDA... they don't exist. They also quoted the 40% drop in family wealth.... it turns out.. they were using data from the final two years of Bush administration as well as first two of Obama's and most of the drop took place in the first two years... remember the 6000 drop in the Dow in 2008. I just want honesty... Remember all the Fox claims about Obama attending a Madrasa [islamic terrorist school in Indonesia , that turned out to be attended by children of American oil companies andeven diplomatic parents ] and being born in Kenya, being Islamic yet complaining about his crazy Christian minister.....?? ..Just want honesty. ..
  25. Conservative????? ... religious yes ......financial... absolutely not... the national debt almost tripled during Reagan administration... and doubled again in Bush Jr. one....I know it is still climbing... haven't been able to stop it yet... no-one will compromise due to that stupid "no tax pledge" many have signed... They know they will be unelected by massive money if they compromise as was done for 200+ years... . Conservative means don't spend more than they take in.... either "earn" more money or spend less or maybe both. T-party types just seem to want even less taxes and cut money to military, education, food inspections, disease control, national parks, interstate highways, and everything else that is needed.. the two administration during the 90's were far more conservative with the debt increasing by less than 2% per year and the GOP one [ Bush Sr.] got un-elected because he tried to get the debt under control. . Oddly the California financial problems began when Reagan was Gov. there and have just gotten worse...thought the family value man and conservative Arnold was supposed to fix it all there. . ..
