  1. . Maybe he did officially resign --- but I am betting the pressure on him was very severe ..... could be it was asked for or maybe he was chewed out so bad he just said "to hell with it" and walked out.
  2. Just win and get out of there... doesn't need to be like the 84-0 game Okie State just did... In any game over a 40 point win... they should have played the bench more..(especially the offense ones) . After 40 points... what is the point... to make them mad?? ... you are not impressing any one. You won and could likely just name the score. [exception SMU... tar and feather them]
  3. Firing him after ONE week is awfully severe.... however the Coogs had the ball less than 17 min... and the TSU 43+ min. Also UH were 1 for 13 on third down. Tough to have the ball less than that. Offense did nothing apparently. 1-2-3-kick seemed to be what happened over and over.... 12 third downs failed. Maybe they should have waited until next week and see how TxState does against Tx Tech,, They might be a lot better than imagined.
  4. I would not want to be an SMU alum on any day of my life. Not a good day for the CUSA teams going to the Big East... ______________________ Baylor - 59 ---- SMU - 24 Texas State - 30 ---- Houston 13 Tennessee, Martin - 20 ---- Memphis 17 ----------------------------------------------- Bet the Big East is really glad to be adding them. -
  5. Cowboy cuts..: Dallas Cowboys OL Jeff Adams, LB Baraka Atkins, DE Ben Bass, WR Tim Benford, DT Robert Callaway, QB Rudy Carpenter, FB Shaun Chapas, WR Danny Coale, RB Lance Dunbar, DE Clifton Geathers, OL Harold Gunn, WR Saalim Hakim, LB Adrian Hamilton, OL Ronald Leary, LB Orie Lemon, RB Jamize Olawale, OL Daniel Loper, OT Pat McQuistan, DB Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, CB Lionel Smith, TE Andrew Szczerba, DB Eddie Whitley, CB Teddy Williams.
  6. Lance was named "Player of the Game".... ... sort of hard to cut the player of the game. ... 105 yards .. a 50 yd TD....... He looked extremely good at breaking tackles. Jamize had 53.. both averaged 7 yds per carry. They cut the team down on Friday.
  7. Had a neighbor (deceased) who served on a U-boat... and also manned anti-aircraft guns... His comment was you either served or wound up in a concentration camp yourself... Also my father worked in Brownwood,Texas around German POWs at Camp Bowie and some of them have returned over the years. [ most of them were captured in North Africa in 1942 ] many still claim they really did not realize the camps existed then and when shown film about them before being returned after the war ... just thought it was false propaganda by the US .. they found out differently when they returned. However this guy was in one of them ... so he knew... and if he was SS.... then you just can't do enough to him. If so, I hope he had nightmares every night of his life and feared everyday that he would get caught and if SS I hope he is "disappeared" and his family never knows what happened to him..... that is what they did to people... The best thing Ike ever did was order people in nearby towns (14 or older) walk through those camps and then bury the dead and clean them up.... Don't see many of them remembering the good old days of that era. it made them realize how evil it was. ------ The ones "welcomed" to the US had nothing to do with the camps. .. as in Werner Von Braun etc. in the rocket program..would you prefered the Russians got them. Just because you lived in Germany then or even worked for the government doesn't mean you were a Nazi. As I said above ... you did your job or risked being sent "away". ..
  8. He must think there will a lot of sacks by them (counts against rushing yards).
  9. ESPN claims they ( LSU ) are not practicing today. Aggies and LaTech have moved their game to Oct. ..
  10. Agree... they are rather close, we have been conference mates at times and they are currently in a "bind" with their conference coming apart... I am not aware of of them ever trashing us [ unlike SMU ]. There are very few schools that we have played more often. I could care less if we ever play SMU again.... don't want to fill their stadium and their pockets.
  11. I just see Allen Stadium from pictures [ have seen from outside though] ...but... it appears to have the Old Fouts problem that people here complained about.... so far from stands to the field.. or are the pictures misleading?
  12. The NATIONAL DEBT: Maybe you should try the US treasury site... more reliable than Wikipedia and an odd Wikipedia site at that. http://www.treasuryd...bt/histdebt.htm ( note .gov not .com ) 1940 -- 49 Billion -- pre WWII 1950 -- 257 billion -- post WWII 1960 -- 286 billion 1970 -- 370 billion (Viet Nam not over) 1980 -- 907 Billion ( pre-Reagan --- Nixon, Ford Carter) ... high inflation due to OPEC had occured -- oil and most things had tripled in price.) 1990 --3,322, Billion (post- Reagan) 2000 -- 5,674 Billion [ Bush I and Clinton ] -- Bush I tried to control it after Reagan years and did improve it a lot but voted out, "read my lips", surplus by 2000 ] 2010 -- 13,561 Billion aka 13.5 trillion --- because of Iraq, tax cuts etc.. ( Obama took office in 2009, tax cuts still in place, even now ) .... quote reliable sourses. ... not surprised you ignored this one.... Most GOP financial liberals would like to. (religious conservatives don't care, just believe as they do...especially on birth issues, well maybe not as far as Akin.. .
  13. . ---I did not equate the civil rights movement with gay marriage movement..... just that many people boycotting those who spoke out on "racial" civil rights** and now people are boycotting those who dare say anything about gay marraige....[ I do find it interesting that in both cases most of it has occured in the Southern Bible Belt ]. and by the way I do not support gay marriage... you put a lot of words in peoples mouths. and make a lot of insane assuptions. ... but you know it all... ** a lot of the civil rights movements in the 60's and 70's involved womens rights and rights for people between 18-21 who could not vote but could be drafted for war (ever been "draft bait" for years, I was) and we could not conduct a lot of business until age 21... Obviously you are not the expert on that era as you think you are. . -- Dare to explain how you think the era-2001-2009 was conservative financially... Don't mention 9-11, even World War II didn't add as much to the debt as that era did.. that debt bothers us that are really conservative...... but not the TRUE financial liberals such as you seem to be. .......read closer .....I do mention the insane debt climb now.... the Congress isn't passing anything for the President to sign or veto... largely because of the Norquest pledge. The WH does not pass laws Congress does.... he vetoes or signs... that is basic info in government class.
  14. Sort of... but they are very different cats. JO is much larger and appears to block very well and not shabby catching short passes from what I have seen. Might be a short yardage person and good to have in backfield to block for QB. He actually may be what the Cowboys need in a pro game more than LD. Wouldn't it be strange if both made it.
  15. and --Read what you write... .. you are the one that brought up the KKK first not me. and yawl showed "dog" pictures which have zero to do with a boycott.. Stay on the subject... that would have never occured to me although it did happen but has nothing to do with any type of boycott. You do know the big reason the deep south went GOP after 100 years of voting Demo?. It was all about the civil rights legislation LBJ and the Demos passed afterwards. I am sure you know that because you claim to know so much about that era even though you didn't live through it. It has stayed GOP largely because now they try to appeal to the Bible Belt with religious issues. Almost every post you make is about " Liberal / Coservative and labeling people as something. If they disagreee with you they are liberal... Well I did disagree with the era after 2001 when the debt got out of control, so I am a liberal?? and it increased as much as all 42 previous Presidents had. You will have to explain how opposing that that is "liberal" ..and supporting it is conservative. My definition of conservative is to not increase your debt, pay it down and in fact stay out of debt (which I am.). ... yes it is still climbing ... and Congress will do nothing to help or to have anything for the President to sign. The WH doesn't pass laws, just vetos and approves. You refered to me as a Democrat... well I am now... after seeing what has happened to the national debt after 2001 and what is happening to education in Texas with funding dropping every session... and don't say economy... the Texas economy is good... maybe the best in the nation .... there are so many jobs available in the western half of the state that "help-wanted" signs appear in nearly every window. Except for a few locations (which is always the case) the rest of the state isn't doing poorly either... The $25 billion problem the legislature had last session was the result of seveal sessions of creative accounting... moving expensives to next budget etc. No I don't support the GOP in Texas now... why should we... they are wreaking education and I work there... I see it after every session the past twelve years or since Perry walked in and the legislature changed control. . I had no problem with GOP when Bush was there or Bill Clements either.... PS: not every Democrat is a Liberal nor is every GOP person an extreme conservative... I know many GOP that are fed up up the T-party guys and their lack of understanding... most of those guys seem to be all about wanting more tax cuts and terrible services and to hell with schools. ..... but they complain about them. .
  16. --- I agree but with many if you say something that they disagree with ... they view as the extreme other.... that is nuts. Most of us are conservative on some subjects ( financially for me ) and rather liberal on others ( people's religious beliefs for me ) .. Why must they label everyone as one or the other... Most of us are both or just middle of road depending on the issue. --- I find it odd that those two think they are EXPERTS on the 60's civil right things and what happened and think I am the idiot about the 60's when they were barely alive and graduated from college long after then... and I lived through it as a kid, and in college UNT-66, UNT-75, seeing some of it first hand and on TV at the time..... They know it all. ...... and I know nothing. --- I guess I was wrong about people boycotting or not doing business with companies that served blacks or hired them .... Sure thought I remembered that... Guess they know better.
  17. . You and UNT Flyer are completely twisting what I meant.... nothing even close to the pictures shown .... from your KKK album? My commment refered to intolerance for those who believe differently and boycotting those who do... AND I DO MEAN BOTH SIDES.... Why do you twist everything I say into something very different. You likely are more liberal than I am.... for sure you are on financial issues. You yell "liberal" on everything a bit different than what you think, even if the view shown is more conservative than your beliefs. Don't start a racial argrument. Do you belong to the KKK......?? I sure don't. The most of the exteme southern conservatives in the 60's didn't want to change anything then either. I graduated from HS when no black in my HS class could attend a SWC school.. and I went to a HS that was integrated. You have no clue to all that went on. So was I a liberal because I went to UNT ? ( we were integrated then ) Honestly I never thought it one way or the other when I decided to go to UNT. (NTSU then). A financial conservative [ I am, hated the large increase in debt after 2001...which you obviously don't from your posts, ] ... is very different than a religious or social one... and even then people are never completely one of the other... which issue. ? To you everything is black or white, right or wrong... nothing in between. I repeat... this is all completely ridiculuous.. just because some people believe different you don't do all of this. .... Don't take this to mean I am a supporter of the gay lifestyle. ... I really don't get it. ...but if they don't bother me, I won't bother them. [ does that make me liberal ? ] It seems you really dislike them and anyone different than you...welcome to some in the 1960's.
  18. This is completely ridiculous... both sides. Similiar stuff went on when the civil right things were happening in the 60-70's. ...
  19. ---One dropped pass isn't going to do him in... many will. He was used a lot.... Once you get past the starters and first backups then it comes down to being good on special teams and useful at some position.. I expect him to be around until the final cutdown at least... then ... who knows. May need a lot of depth at RB/FB position given the history of several of them. They are quite a few NFL players that were not all that noticed in college..... and MANY that were considered great that never succeed in the NFL.
  20. I wasn't there but defeating Tennessee in football in what was then the largest football stadium in the South. We were using our third string QB [ Ray from Midland, watched him in HS ] . The football one I actually saw : --- the win at Tech about 1989 [ tortilla game] .. We never gave up and came from behind.. [ my Tech grad wife was with me.] Any game In person..?. in 1964... we defeated Cincinnati in Basketball in Denton... they had been the National champion two years earlier and were highly reguarded then.. [ maybe ranked top 10 ] Winning several national championships in golf was a big deal, just not one of the most watched sports. ------ --Honorable mention for best game: (a loss by 2 and inside of 10 as it ended) almost defeating Arkansas in late 60's... they had one loss.. UT. [ our best team ever with Joe Green and many future NFL players ]
  21. That "church?" is so extreme they aren't Christian in my opinion.... they protest gays and even funerals of people who served in the Military. Very Extreme right wing nuts.
  22. It seems if a team wants to be ranked #1.... play North Texas.... We sure have played a lot of them [ OU, LSU, Alabama, UT, -- some several times ] Sure been a lot of teams that are #1, will be #1, or was #1 last year.
  23. ---Not everyone on the "right" are good people and not everyone on the "left" are either.... You are pointing out an individual... not a group. But I do think teaching morallity starts at home.... Sarah Palin sorta failed in that...... but she can sure tell the rest of us how to behave. If we are into picking out individuals then the party of Gingrich and Rush Limbough are greatly immoral... [check out their life history, terrible].... can't just pick out a few people and make generalizatuions. ---Some think that anyone who disagrees with them are "liberal pagan socialists".... that is nuts. I suspect I am much more financial conservative than you are yet you think I am a "damn liberal" . The debt going nuts after 2001 didn't bother you...(it doubled or equalled the total of 42 previous administrations).... but you have constantly supported them... i didn't hate them but that increasing debt bothered me big time... and it didn't you it seemed ...because you "claimed to be conservative"....... you call that conservative??? .... in religion maybe.... not financially....... Many Islamics are very conservative in religion too.... they think everyone else that believes differently deserves to die. Westwood Baptist is very conservative too... they are sure they are right and the rest of us are damn liberals. .... which likely even includes you... or do you support them too?? ---You need to stop spewing politics and being "holier than thou" if they dare disagreee with you...... you are losing a lot of friends (and respect). ---The economy and a lot other things hit the in fan in 2008 ... largely because of the insame debt plus banking and Wall Street practices which controls had been taken off. You can't just let kids run wild or bankers or chemical/oil companies either...... check out spots in West Texas where they dumped stuff before there were government regulations to stop it. I can show you places where weeds won't even grow.... too polluted. No one likes being told what to do ... even out of control kids..... but some supervison is necessary. .. ..
  24. The people in Germany during the 30's thought they were always right too .... and were very intolerant of those who thought differently. That did not turn out so well for them or the others... The right: [ We are always right and you are wrong and we will make fun of you ] The left: [ We want to be left alone, believe as we want , and be free to do and think as we want as long as it harms no one else ] Financial conservative has nothing to do with either...... don't go into debt, buy only what you can afford, and pay your bills. [ sure hasn't happened by USA since 2001 by either party, debt is now triple what first 42 Presidential administrations did... TOTAL ] ..
