The GOP House has passed nothing to help. People who are earning high income from going to work everyday are the ones getting screwed.. they often pay over 30%.... double the Romney types.

--Financially I am very conservative**.... not so much on many other issues... and definitively not T-party... [ who seem to want great service but not pay taxes to pay for them ]. . Just think it odd that many who think anyone that disagrees with them at all is the extreme left.... which I am not even close to being. The extreme right is trying to claim the current administration is trying to confiscate all guns... which isn't true at all [ I own several and even went target shooting last weekend ] The discussion is all about guns that can shoot 20 people in 20 seconds.... just be honest about what the "argument" is about.... .....Gun control... we already have some... can't own bazoozas, BARS, morters, or other fully automatic guns now. ** don't go into or increase debt as happened after 2001. Sequester may prove to be a good thing short term... It will show what we can actually do without and what is absolutely needed.

Remember when the Pope had a "service or audience or whatever" at Sun-Devil stadium [ the last Pope, John Paul II ]..... they had to cover up all the Sun-Devil symbols..

---Weird... to some if anyone disagrees with them they are considered far left.... any issue... I suppose those of us who hated the debt getting out of control during 2001-2009 era and the hating how the economic conditions were at the end of 2009 [ bank bail-outs, unemployment rising, dropping Dow, home repossessions, etc, ] means we are far left. There were some that thought the police dept. mistreated him and that he had some justification.... I would not call them far left or far right... just idiots. I vote Blakeley .... but Spika was facing better competition.... the MVC.... the best basketball conference in America at the time...Spika may have been better..... UCLA and various teams may been been better but the MVC was the toughest end to end. The ACC was still all-white and not even close really as a conference, but some teams were.. At one time in my senior year 5 of the top 10 were MVC teams . I don't even remember Miller.. just remember some down years then. Houston was by far the best in Texas in Miller era.

-- ---No problem with that (armed security) ... just not classroom teachers which our "wonderful" governor and many others want. In fact having an armed security person in a large high school campus might not be a bad idea. There are students there who are crazy enough [ maybe gang members also ] to bring one into school .. Small kids might but very unlikely to purposely shoot anyone much less a group. .... and what happened in Conn. is extremely rare and doesn't seem to justify the expense of putting someone in every school nationwide. Risks and cost seem to outweigh rewards. Besides anyone would probably target the security guy first... if he wanted to do what happened in Conn. --- This is my opinion despite having one of my students with a pistol in his sock that I had caused to get suspended the day before (about 1990) ... Maybe I was the target, maybe not... Another teacher noticed it and two disarmed him before classes started. No gun was needed... Oddly about five years ago he walked up to me in Walgreen's and apologized for his behavior (did not mention gun) .... has a decent job and family... ..

You are right about one thing.... it would not be one of the assault guns banned...... the point was that "guns do not belong in a classroom". Yes it was dropped.... Who cares what brand etc. .. it was dropped.... and it fired... and can bet the same would happen in some classrooms eventually. Carrying one into a school would likely kill more people than it would ever save.... When was the last time a mass shooting happened in a Texas classroom?...ever?? You keep switching back and forth on issues .. two issues here ... guns in classrroms ( not just security) and assault guns.. different issues... Nothing is absolutely fool-proof... just don't add to the danger by having teachers carrying one. ... I even saw a kid stabbed with a pencil... got him pretty good, bled a lot... it wasn't in anger but just horsing around.... can't ban pencils... needed every day... guns aren't. Those who think the answer is police or ex-miltary in school is the answer need to read or listen to the news.... there are some nuts there as well. A couple of those stories lately .... and I know of several incidents where police have been fired or suspended for mishandling a gun (it fired). In some cases ... it likely is good to have a gun on campus [ locked up ] especially if the school is a long way from police protection. I as a student and as a teacher often had one locked up in a pickup in the parking lot (family had cattle, legal then) ... that is a lot different that carrying one around. ....... so I am not the anti-gun nut that you seemed to think I am... nor am I the guy that is fascinated by them and think they are toys. ... You just assumed I am in Dallas area... I am not.... I am in west Texas. ... my picture above is my ranching/farming grandfather about 1899.... I own his guns... and his land. I am not exactly some city-person (but live in an area of 1/4 million) and have always had guns around me. My other grandfather and his brother drove some of their cattle to San Antonio as teenagers (parents deceased).... and sold them to the Teddy's roughriders for food. -- I understand guns but don't understand why some are so fascinated by them... they are needed ... but are not toys and are dangerous..

Not a friend of a friend... our sons played on the same soccer teams... her family and mine often went to the same out of town tournaments. she made a mistake... she must have forgot it was in her coat pocket when she picked it up after her trip.... details.. ??? It hit her in the groin and out her neck.... is that graphic enough details???. I am not anti-gun... but I am against teachers having guns in the classrsoom.... accidents will happen and more people will die that are saved. .. plus any gun that can shoot 20 people in 20 seconds has no business being sold to the general public**. Want to legalize BARS... they can can fire 360 rounds in one minute. [ they are currently banned (we already have some gun control of miltary type weapons.. ) ] . .. ** yes the drug dealers will get them... so many assault guns already out thee... but they usually are shooting each other... good ridance...

I would settle for wins like we had the Joe Green and Fry era..... to heck with the old uniforms. UT, A&M, and TxTech don't change helmet looks every few years. ... and neither do most other schools with sucessful programs. I wish we would go with some type of interlocking NT and stay with it.

In short ... we now had one less drug dealer... and I don't associate with those guys. Let me guess you an urban type... never lived in a rural setting....and are facinated with guns and often consider guns as toys. I don't. Now if a feral hog shows up .... I am not wanting an assault weapon... caliber is likely too small to stop that thing before he gets to you..(likely you will just make him even more mad.... hitting him in head may just bounce off unless hit flat.). I want a 30-06 to blow a huge hole in him and maybe more than one shot. they are huge and mean. ... -- If you are some guy that thinks you need one against our government... I pity you..... they have tanks, bazookas, grenades, morters, F-15s, warthogs, and all sorts of things... How did Saddam's huge army in 1990 do when he even had 100's of tanks and assault weapons... about 3 days later they were defeated and running for their lives.

Even at that... look at W-L record [22-6-1] and who Ramsey's opponents were... not Southland teams. They almost beat Arkansas which had lost 1? game and it was to a great UT team. NT was near the goal and winning when time ran out...

I agree... but if rather equal... then look long-term... I still don't know how anyone could not vote Ramsey... even based only on what he did at UNT.... in a way.. the MVC of that era was ahead of its time... lots of passing here and other schools, Tulsa, Cinn. etc. Lots of good players walking through then... the SWC, SEC and ACC was all white and lot of great players were in the MVC. .

.. ---Second the motion... good list... but somehow get Beasley Reece on list at DB....and absolutely keep Spider Lockhart as DB. Beasley played several years in NFL... Dallas, TB, but mostly Giants beside Harry Carson at DB (NFL-HOF).... might bump Beatty off for Reece. .
