More crazy talk: Can UNT get a vote in the top 25
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to casual fan's topic in Mean Green Football
.. Ball State is now 9-1 ... and the one loss is to UNT. They are now listed 35 in BCS before this week... We might get some votes, but not ranked in top 25. -
. That was not intended.... But there are those that think the opposition party is un-Christian .. that was the point.. I have even heard statements to that effect. Also there are a lot supporters that give non-Christian religions a bad time. I won't label Cruz as one of them ... just clueless ... What sensible spending has he proposed to cut ?? He just suggests less taxes... That is like me going to work less because I owe money... It went out of control after 2001... Check this site if you think I am being dishonest about that claim. check the 90's and then 2000+... Maybe you will see I am be 100% truthful .. (US Treasury site... non-political. ) . http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/histdebt/histdebt.htm

. People like Cruz and Rush are harmful to America... They divide and make crazy claims that if you don't agree with them you are non-Christian Pagan, and non-Patriotic. that bothers me.. Those of us who did not think Iraq invasion was necessary (just as most European did not support it) were considered unpatriotic.. i think absolutely otherwise... I didn't want American soldiers harmed or killed needlessly and nothing seemed to support a nuke program there but only one guys word that the Germans said was liar (he was in Germany at the time he claimed to be in Iraq at a nuke plant) Even Michael Reagan has flat out called people who don't vote for the party he supports are Un-Christian (I actually heard him say it on one of his programs ). Learn a bit of history and you will find that people who did not support their leader were made fun of, were considered non-patriotic etc. We need people to unite America and do the right thing not divide us. As for Conservative... Explain how in 2001 after 200+ years the debt was about$ 5.8 trillion .... then in 2009 (eight years later it became $11.9 trillion) ... how was that conservative. ??? My opinion of T-party folks is they don't want to pay any taxes... and to hell with the debt.. Their actions show that, want more tax cuts but no spending cuts that make sense. .. . Conservative is not increasing debt.... which I believe.. Conservative Santorium was known as the king of earmarks when in Congress...(contributing to the debt big-time). He was no conservative despite his claims. If you answer how doubling the national debt was conservative... then they have some credibility ..otherwise they are lying snakes. . The economy went to hell in that final year too and we haven't totally recovered from it since. We never before had invaded a country before without being provoked ... but we did then... and thousands died and have permanent injuries... Do you approve of that?? ..[don't mention 9-11, Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 ] Was that conservative and patriotic or was opposing it patriotic?? That other leader did the same, claim to be superior and invade countries for no reason .. that is how it came up. . Support people who want to help America ....not divide it and make fun of people who disagree with them.. I have said enough, maybe too much. ... I don't dislike the GOP just because they are GOP ..... I dislike the ones who thump Bibles and think only they are Christian or Godly, only they are patriotic, and say they are conservative while ruining the debt and economy.. The GOP is now really two groups.... The moderate sensible ones and those that have no clue..

. about what???.... I will agree he is extreme right ... as was Adolph.... who thought his group was superior people, persecuted various religions especially Jewish, and was liked by big business and industrialists and even provided them free labor (prisoners) .. He was the direct opposite of a socialist (despite the name) ..

. Not sure why you think the electoral college favors Democrats ...... In the 2000 election the popular vote would have elected Gore ... but the electoral vote elected Bush.. Rarely do they disagree with each other but it can happen... Often the winner doesn't get 50% because of a third candidate as happened when Clinton defeated Papa Bush (Perot took a sizable popular vote, but no electorial vote) One big reason for the electoral college instead of popular vote is not all states have exactly the same voting standards and rules ( I find it hard to believe that in some states you can register to vote on the same day as the election, no check time on validity of voter... plus in Texas, it is difficult to stay on rolls more than two years if you move or die, not true in some states ). ... and can you imagine the problems that would occur if the popular vote was only a few 100 apart as happened in Florida in 2000.... All 50 states would be scrambling to recount and find extra votes ..... That would be far worse that the mess that occurred in Florida. As for health care plan .... I am not sure I support it and never claimed I did ...but we are paying now anyway with property taxes (at least where we have hospital districts) for those who can't/don't pay as it is anyway.... Something needed to be done ... just not so sure this is the way to go. As for race ... it seems in America there is always a problem or targeted group... People once disliked the Irish ... and they hated the Germans (my family was... not very popular people in WWI, many changed spelling of their name .. example Schneider became Snyder, the town Stanton was once Marienfeld ) they have disliked Italians, they have disliked blacks, they have disliked Polish, they have disliked the Jewish, and many more ... just weren't English enough.... now it seems to be a couple of other groups ........ it seems everyone except British names got their turn.. Think about this ..... nearly every President has a name from the British Isles .. except Teddy Roosevelt, F.D. Roosevelt, and Van Buren (all were from Dutch families in New Amsterdam (now New York) from the 1600-1700's prior to USA, ... plus Eisenhower (German name, war hero) and now Obama. 39 have names from British Isles ... no French, Italian, Scandinavian, Oriental, native American, Hispanic, or Eastern European names.... May not be a majority race in America but there is in Presidential names. Only two haven't had a British Isle or a New Amsterdam Dutch name. . .

. ---Six man football has a 45 point rule if at halftime or later ... so how is that different just because there is 11 on the field in H.S....?? . .... Once it gets that one sided (50 points ahead and tired players ) I think it is better to just call it a game because of the risk of injuries... Even high school baseball has "run rules" to end the game..... why not 11 man football ...? .. how is that different..?. I don't see that as quitting.... never heard of a team coming from behind when they were 50 points down... they are defeated and as you pointed out ... they lost ... the others are the winners. . Not suggesting this for college or NFL... .

. Lately internet explorer has been a mess ... locking up etc... at least where I am. lots of people say the same. -
.. The point he is trying to make is that great college QB doesn't mean great NFL QB. The reverse works as well.... Ever hear of Romo or even Brady in college? .... neither were drafted. A fair QB on a great team will look a lot better than he is ....... and a talented QB with a poor team won't look very good. Plus the talent of opposition is much better in the NFL and what works in college may not work in the NFL.. Plus there are some that may be pretty good but their work/study habits and intelligence (JaMarcus Russell) just won't cut it at the NFL level.

It appears Aledo did what it could to stop scoring... I remember Univ. of Houston scoring 100 a few ago against Tulsa ... and the criticism he received...... He stated he played every kid he had, and had run basic plays, but would not tell his bench kids to not try ( I agree) .. He also stated the other team did agree to play and wasn't trying much.... H.S. is a bit different, they don't get to chose their district foes... but I have no problem with what happened .... My only suggestion is for the UIL to allow the coach that is 50 points down to end the game if he choses.

Pretty strong statement from McCarney on attendance
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Did he see the SMU attendance on TV this weekend..... awful. -
UT apparently has won the dirty player [ MIKE DAVIS ] of the year award also. Cheap shot... on news today even. I believe UT had scored... play was basically over... pointless. http://network.yardbarker.com/college_football/article_external/texas_wr_mike_davis_cheap_shots_iowa_state_defensive_back_with_dirty_hit_to_knee/14698145?refmod=backyard&refdst=8626&refsrc=foxsports

.. So if 21 kids in a classroom tell the same story about what happened after the teacher stepped out and a kid named Fox tells a different one, you would believe the kid named Fox and not the all the others.... hmmmmm .... does that sound reasonable to you...??? Hope you are never in charge a situation like that ..... or on a jury where all the witnesses tell one story and you don't believe them unless their name is Fox. ..
-
.. Wow.!! You are learning the Fox and Rush L. method very well.. They take something true and twist it into something not even close to true. It is true the Memorial was supposedly closed but it happened because CONGRESS refused to extend the national debt. Obama and his administration did not sign or veto anything to cause it to happen. I honestly believe that if some Democrat claimed he loved his sister that Fox et. al. would report it and claim he and the Democratic party supported incest. Thanks for demonstrating what those guys do with the truth. ..

The truth about the national debt.... this is the US treasury site... not a political one, or Fox, or Rush L., or even NBC. It began to skyrocket in 2001 which we now have to deal with and in the 80's it tripled. Yes that President is gone but the problems and debt climb that started in 2001 is still with us. Can't get Congress to pass anything (one party wants even more tax cuts.. the last cut increased our debt situation (plus invading a country that supposedly was making nukes and never were any or the factories ever found and the source of "info" was proven to be lying made it even worse).. after 2000 : http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/histdebt/histdebt_histo5.htm before then: http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/histdebt/histdebt_histo4.htm Doesn't make the so-called conservatives after 2000 look that conservative. Remember there is NO political bias here.. it is the US Treasury site.. I will agree they are conservative when it comes to religion... just not financially.

.. -- There are a few very bad community colleges** but most are very good ... freshman classes at community colleges are taught by people who usually have taught for years and have master's degree or more in the subject .. not some TA with a bachelor degree teaching his first class ever .... or a class of 100 students. Stats we get back from major universities including UNT show our former students actually have a higher GPA there collectively than those who stated classes at the university level. I was once a TA and now teach at a community college... I have seen both sides and those "profs" teaching there. Usually a big difference. --I understand that most students want to leave home for their freshman year but so many play around (too immature) and we get to see them back home after one or two semesters. I lived at College Inn when it was new ... only 305 students that first year (maybe 80% freshman) and after one semester we had about 195 left for the spring. That didn't happen the next year because of fewer immature freshman living there. One year at a good community college or small college is not a bad thing. -- personally two of my kids went away and one stayed at a community college... but the ones that went off took certain freshman classes here in the summer to avoid huge classes and rookies... they have engineering degrees.. my other one finished at UNT, business. ** usually very small and maybe struggling to keep their doors open

.. The health and insurance industry has brought a lot of this on themselves.... My wife this fall spent about 4 hours at a hospital one night and the bill was $1000's. (5 in think) that was ridiculous. I am not saying the saying the affordable health act is absolutely good thing but we are already paying for indigent care and other costs as well with taxes and unreal costs... Medical costs are extreme to what they were 50 years ago and it is not all about the improved care given. --I urge ultra conservatives T-party types to not collect social security beyond what they paid in or what they paid into medicare costs either (if they are really the ultra conservative they claim to be) ...also urge their parents to not collect either (just have them move in with them if they need to ). If they do.... they are hypocrites to complain about those programs ). . Social Security or F.I.C.A (Federal Insurance C. A.) ... It is a life insurance policy but also provides insurance for child survivors in case of death. My wife lost her father as the result of WWII. and her family received some benefits until she was 21 (18 if she had not been in school). Yes some of us lose money on that deal ... but don't ask me how much health, auto (required) and home insurance [ not a government program ] has made off me. Insurance is complete gamble and should be used for possible extreme loses.. some win and some lose. Don't insurance a $2000 car except for liability.... that is a bad gamble.. you can afford the loss if something happens. . .

. -- Yep and those who credit Perry with a great Texas economy ... I don't remember him putting oil in Texas and his Enterprise Fund has been a flop (except to him because of those contributing a large percent back to his political funds) .. You can blame him and the legislature for the huge budget problems in 2011 which had never happened before under any previous governor of either party. How did that happen with the Texas economy being as good as it has been .?? Who paid for that mess... those of us in education with less funding and those 1000's who lost their jobs (in education and other services ..claims he created jobs?) plus students are now in even more overcrowded classrooms**...... Perry didn't suffer or those controlling in the Legislature.. Oddly later there was a surplus .. about equal to what they cut from education. . people need to pay attention to what has happened and why. **that has driven many students into private and sometime extreme religious schools and even home school situations ... which means less funding needed for public schools . ( seems to be his ultimate goal ). Home schools may work for lower grade levels but for secondary schools they are mostly a mess especially in math and science... ( I see them later in my college classes, and most of those student are WAY behind for the most part, they know random facts but no idea how or why things work. (many homeschoolers also seem socially inept and have not been exposed to a variety of ideas either ) In the real world after HS they will have to deal with all sorts of people and ideas.

Sometimes there is very little difference in success and failure.... ( at anything, not just sports ) How many games has the Cowboys lost in the past two years in the final 5 minutes where they had a lead.... (they were one win away from making the playoffs both years) ...every play matters, every decision might matter.. even what appears to be a small one at the time. Games are often lost by an inch or two... no first down, missed catch, made the catch, missed tackle, missed basketball shot... etc. Then there are the odd ones .. late for a plane that crashed or just missed having a wreak by inches. In our life even sitting on which side of the room could matter as to who you met that changed how your life turned out. ( wife, boss, friends, opportunity, etc. ) Sports results can be strange as is what happens in life. Little things often matter.
