---OSU did not pound an inexperienced FAU last night and I am betting that will be noticed by the OSU coach while preparing for next year's game. He will not be expecting an easy victory. Those other I-A opponents may have noticed also.... depends on how OSU and FAU does the rest of the year. Build the Belt.!!! competitive occ games help us greatly. Hope FIU can hold their own in Lubbock this week... the local ad here in Midland seems to be predicting a blowout. BEAT MTSU!! (I am happy with only a one point win) They did ok last week it appears.

---I expect Tulsa is get pounded by OU this weekend in reaction to the OU loss last week... poor devils.... Then we get them next week....Their confidence may not be all that great when we meet them..... unless they actually show up pretty well against OU. Maybe OU is not really all that good and TCU was actually better than them. Questions, questons, questions. no answers yet. ---I will be able to see the Tulsa game up close and personal...... don't get to Denton all that much from West Texas.

----Other than crowd size, they didn't hurt the Belt's image any. We will see how good/bad OSU really is later.... Can Baylor actually win a Big-12 South games? It looks like a maybe. ---A terrible night to have college TV game with the NFL opening up at the same time with the defending Super-Bowl champions playing the popular (love/hate) Raiders plus the game was not near the FAU campus. --- I agree, FAU looked a lot better than I expected them to look especially the defense in the first half. Special team errors was killing FAU in the first half and they still hung tough.. -
Keys To The MUTS/North Texas Game

---I'll take 31-30. I am old and can take the excitment..... part of the fun of winning is seeing disappointment in the opponents face and one point losses creates a lot of dissappointment... -
Future games at Fouts with notable opponents
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to Rock's topic in Mean Green Football
----Students obviously prefer the game to be on campus(some don't havae transportation or want to drive into Dallas) and most alums like to come back to campus to visit. Texas Stadium doesn't fit our needs plus we aren't filling Fouts that often. Bigger names would not be much more likey to play games there with possibly the exception of some Texas teams who would bring a lot of their owm fans. An occasional game might be a success however the Tech game at Texas Stadium wasn't that big of one especially with NT fans. Dallas tech went largely because it rare Tech plays in Dallas area anymore. ---What you are suggesting has been tried... Even SMU moved out of the Cotton Bowl and back onto their campus.... however their fan support disappeared after the "death penality" for constant cheating plus they apparently could not win much without cheating. -
----TexasTech has offered some very cheap tickets to the staff of Midland College ($12.00) which is a much discounted from their usual price. They are for an non-confernce game (Indiana State) but we could have gotten them for the Fla Int. game if we had been contacted earlier. A couple of years ago there were TCU/TT tickets available. It is an attempt to fill the stands for the non-conf. games with lower attendence. We send them a lot of students so it was a good idea for them to do so. That same weekend they are having Tech-Band-Alum Day in which alums who were in the band can attend and participate in the pregame activities. Their seats are free but any family that comes will buy tickets as well. We are 120 miles away. ---UNT should take note and perhaps work a deal with Collin County JC which sends a lot of students or perhaps have some tickets on campus available for purchase especially the Plano campus which has a large student body has many future UNT students..... Gimmicks help fill the stands... they have that Band-alum activity every year.

---Some of the largest reasons we have been able to recruit much better is the breakup of the SWC which brings SMU, Rice, Houston and TCU pretty much on our level recruiting-wise-- plus we have kicked up our status to I-A (again)--- and DD has succeeded and we are a winning team going to a bowl, regularly.... WE will continue to get better and so will the remainder of the Belt . ---MTSU had a very decent game last week against Bama and they could really give us fits. Let us hope we are able to disappoint them again.

Tulane Football Will HQ At Louisiana Tech
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
----LaTech really needs to go somewhere besides the WAC. They are too far away to be in that group. They need to do almost anything to improve their situation which is terrible now. ----CUSA is not all that stable ...it will not surprise me to see us in with the West-CUSA group along with LaTech eventually. [ maybe even with a different conference name] The CUSA/SunBelt shuffle is far from over. For the time being we just need to improve, hope the Belt overall improves , and begin winning non-conf. games to improve our image and gain respect. Personally I felt SMU, Houston, Rice, TCU, etc. messed up by not keeping the SWC together and trying to add, UNT, UTEP, LaTech and perhaps Tulsa, LLU, or NMSU to replace the departing members. There would have been better fan support than they have had. ----This is the right thing for Tulane to do, all Tulane students and athletes need somewhere to go. Staying in the state for the athletic program is better if possible. The students in general will scatter, paying tuition and expenses will be a complicated issue. -
---Interesting...... We have never played any Big-10 team. We have played all the other I-A conferences and have played every Big-12 teams except Iowa state. http://cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/div_ia/su...xas/vs_conf.php We have played Louisville and Cincinnatti before they were Big East but they have not yet updated this years membership lists to current members so they show as CUSA..

7-11 and Walmart have positions open...... perhaps his " ESPN position" would look a little better after a few months working at those jobs. --- "There are a lot of people that I wish I can 'buy' at their real value and 'sell' at the price they think they are worth".......Quote: my father also others I have heard.

CBS Sportsline Still Giving UNT Love

ie. 10-0 without a LSU game. -
Plan to reschedule LSU game could be dropped
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
---Moving Monroe to the end is a problem for Monroe... they would have two consecutive open weeks... ie three weeks between games. Southern or "no-game" may be what happens. Perhaps someone else with an open date on Nov. 19 could get permission to have a 12th game... The NCAA should understand the unique sitution. SMU and Houston have no game on that date... they could use the extra game money and would not involve a lot of travel.. -
TULANE: OUT OF CONFERENCE USA
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
----Forget CUSA for a while....... accept where we are....... in the Belt and making the Belt better. If things happen in the future then worry about it and take advantage of it. All we need to be doing now is be preparing for the future by building a stadium, improving existing programs such as basketball, add baseball, and win out of conference games in every sport which will help us the future if condidtions change. ----Personally I think there is still a lot of instability in CUSA, the SunBelt, the WAC, and there are I-AA teams that will be wanting to move up. Believe in the old Boy Scout motto---"Be Prepared". -
Excuse... ?? They were just over-rated because they were OU. and TCU was better than expected. "Tulsa -OU" this week will be interesting to see what happens... I don't think Tulsa is as good as most on this board "picture" them. OUu will be mad as a hornet to boot. SMU is hoping to find a hole to hide in I imagine. They play TCU this week. Have fun Froggies!!!!
-
I think the Florida teams (FAU and FIU )will cover...They are better than expected.. No chance for LLU with the problems they have. WE may win this ... if our offensive line can be effective and allow our running game to succeed.. Troy won't cover, UAB is good. Monroe won't either.. My opinions... don't bet anything on my opinions.

UNT can win big games this year
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
Tulsa plays OU next....... or they thinking opportunity or victim of the wrath of OU. Then they get to play us the following week.. Tulsa lost to Minn 41-10 who gained 300 yards rushing against them..... And we do have a rushing game as well. -----MTSU has me concerned... their defense did rather well at "Bama". -
UNT can win big games this year
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
The Big-12 schedules of many look unbelievabably bad. ------The AGGIES have two weeks to prepare for SMU (enought said) -- The week after that they play Texas State who defeated mighty Delta State(who) by 7. -----The RAIDERS open next week against Florida int. who may be much better than expected ..They played a good game against Kansas Kansas State. -- The week after that they play Sam Houston who defeated Bacone JC. (does that mean Junior college) It is in Oklahoma somewhere. -----BAYLOR after a struggle with SMU plays Sanford (not Stamford) a I-AA school -- Next after that.. Army which usually sits in the bottom 10 with SMU. ---TEXAS caught LaLa at an unfortunate time for LLU ( 20 LLU players had families from N.O. in hurricance) but plays Ohio State next and finishes with Rice. No real complaints with their schedule but not very taxing for a top-10 team. ---Maybe worst of all, NEBRASKA defeated Maine by 18. This is from the Yahoo "write-up: The Black Bears struggled mightily before a crowd of 77,469 that was more than double the total attendance of their five home games last season. ---Read that last line again..... most AAAA and AAAAA high schools in Texas do that well or much better.. ---What a weak collection of schedules for a supposed "Great" conference.....I am unimpressed -
Next game for TCU ...... "SMU" .... hahahahahaha.

a. I am with you, I am a fourth generation Texan, and wish all Texas teams (except SMU), good luck. Some of them have "some" fans I am not real fond of at times but their universites officials don't trash North Texas in the newspaper nor have they led votes against us, ignored our existence, or taken actions to "keep us in our place"...... SMU has done those multiple times and still do when possible. I suspect the only reason they have put us on their athletic schedule is "pure money" .... we will help fill their stadium and "help them" out financially..... not for any other decent reason. --I do understand rooting for Belt teams against other Texas teams because that helps the reputation of our conference which helps us. b. Why not..? Some are funny and emphasize a point. ______________________ Editorial: Fran is an idiot for going for 1 pt with a one point lead in the 4th Q.... He lost the game, his team didn't. Good coaches think possible situations through ahead of time. What good is a 2-point lead at that point ... a FG was much more likely than both teams scoring again which could make the one point worth something...... really dumb. One point is the about the same as 2 points and 4 pts is as good as 5 pts....in Q-4. You go for two when you have a 1 or 4 point lead..! [forget this advise when playing TxTech, unless in the final min. another 5 TD are possible]

I can't believe noone is talkine about ULALA
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to a topic in Mean Green Football
---Lafayette is rather much the same situation we were in last year excpt worse...... No doubt several of those players had grown up near New Orleans and lost their homes and perhaps have family still unaccounted for in the hurricane. Football was not the most important issue in their life today. ---The score was no surprise, unless UT called off the dogs it was going to be one-sided and they may have anyway. Monroe could have been in the same situation as well. -
What as dumb move by the Aggies staff. In the fianl quarter, if you arre leading by only one, what good is a one point conversion... so you can lead by two!!!...BIG DEAL. What is the difference... as demonstrated... a field beats either one even if you make it. Option two go for two.. if you make it a field goal only ties, not wins... if you miss no big deal you are still winning by one instead of two that a kicked point would get. Aggies!!!!! duh!!!

The Giant list. http://www.giants.com/news/eisen/story.asp?story_id=8303 He is listed.... There still can be adjustments as other cut their teams... looking good so far.

Ohio State uses 4 QB's in 34-14 victory!

---Just think how good they would be with that oustanding alum...Clarette.. who has screwed up royally and should have been locked up for filing false theft reports in an attempt to defraud an insurance company. OSU--- Home of Coach Woody Hayes [fired for assaulting a Clemson? football player during a bowl game] who constantly was an embarassment to the NCAA and Ohio for bending first-down and yard markers and throwing objects on the field. PS: Bobby Knight was a student at OSU during Woodys' tenure...HMMMM. BK was a student that really learned those temper lessons well.. OSU--home of rampant academic cheating in athletic dept. Stick-um Horns -
Peterson did not look like an "All-American RB" either in the TCU loss.
