--Repeating what I have stated.... It is not about jealousy... it is about the things they have said and done to us over the past 40 years (maybe more). I am as bad as anyone at taking short "cheap shots" at them but that is it. They are "has-beens" and will never be what they once were. We eventually will be "The University of the Metroplex" and they are beginning to recognize it... Some of them have known that for a long time and have feared us being successful... that is why they opposed us getting into the SWC and CUSA... They absolutely don't want competition from a large state-supported university in their back yard. -- WE really don't have any great rivals --- they usually take years to develop and involve lots of meaningful games.. That is why the UT and OU one is a great one.... usually a top-10 ranking is at stake or now even a conference championship. You can bet a lot of the Sun-Belt teams want to kick our rears since we have made four of the past six Bowls and now have won basketball... I will bet that many at MTSU really dislikes us for all the things we have done to them, but it really isn't a great rivalry. Good rivalries are also fed by the fact that they alums work and socialize with each other, which usually means they are often located pretty close together.

---It is been my observation that when low-ranked teams that get a win in the first round , they often get a win in the second round. They play a high ranked team first and once that survive that one the next one is a mid-ranked team so that often manage to pull that one off also. Once they make it to the "Sweet-16" things starting getting tough. Sometimes those high-ranked teams really aren't that good, just come from large conferences, and the lower ones (which often come from smaller conferences) are much better than expected. Therefore "a" win --- might mean a likely two wins.

---A successful athletic program is best and cheapest advertising a school can have.... it gets people's attention.... After you have their attention then everything else can be promoted. Athletic success can help our future grads as they enter the marketplace because employers actually will know where it is and that it is a major university.... Our students need to "get this" as well and support our programs..... it can do nothing but help them..... ---Do you honestly think you have ever been aware of Gonzaga if they had not been rather successful in Basketball?? (doubt it) [ hoping for a 14-seed or better... then we have a better chance to keep playing. ]

--Agree... 4000 should a minimun crowd for a university of our size, more on key games.... I always wished that NT or someone would play UTEP, NMSU, or TT in Midland during the holiday break.. it would draw a good crowd I would think when the college campuses are pretty empty, we have a good arena to play on MC campus.... the home games draw poorly then anyway and lots of college kids are home with not a lot to do. . That actually happened in baseball at our AA baseball field. Tech played someone this past spring. Midland/Odessa has 250,000 people, not a small place, and there is not a lot of sports competition then except HS basketball and Midland College which is a JC. ---It might even help to recruit in the area as well if they saw more of NT... in all sports.

---Their list was short and looked pretty desperate......... We could come up a bunch of other names not listed that would be very worthy of the list... Pat Boone, Larry McMurtry, Peter Weller (Robocop), Shirley Cochran, Joe Don Baker, Ann Sheridan (well-known actress from the 30's-40's, from Denton and played basketball for NTSTC ) and a lot more including some Von Eriks. News Flash: Rice and Tulsa won their first round of CUSA over UTEP and East Carolina........ We have wins over both Rice and Tulsa. aawwwwwh: Smu lost to So. Miss. ....poor thangs.

--Tom Landry went 25-53-4 during his first six years and had NO winning seasons....NONE....That was 25 wins in 82 games.... a lot of folks wanted his head.... then it changed and he went twenty consecutive years with a winning record in every one of them and usually with 10 or more wins and a lot of them were only 14 game seasons.. not 16 games.. Jimmy Johnson even went 1-13 his first one and everyone laughed about how he was not capable of moving up to the pro-level from the college ranks. Enjoy this year and let's see what happens..... ---Give it up... He just won 23 games, the conference championship in large conference with 13 teams in it... and we are playing in the NCAA March-Madness Tournament. Even if we get stomped the first game, it was a good year..... Give it up... This is best we have done in years..... ---No one is perfect, and no one completely agrees with anyone...ever... we are individuals. Sometime good decisions have bad results and sometimes bad decisions actually work..... Enjoy it..!!... this is fun...!!.. and move on !!!! ---My only complaint is about those who could have come to some games and chose not to...... we need to have pride about where we are from, if we expect others to respect us.

---My Aggie son, who is in evening lawschool had a small window open at the bottom of his laptop that kept-up with the score while he was in class, A friend of his and former neighbor of ours , also an Aggie, [heard from him today] was watching and hoping for us as well. Of course my North Texas kids (two) were watching together at a Fox/Hound (maybe Wildwings) in Richardson watching and sitting near a ASU supporter. ---Let's support the Texas teams that make it.

--I hope the person that created poll this is not the same person in charge of PROMOTING our athletic teams. If so I don't think they understand priorities very well.

---Let us hope that we have a game on "Green" St. Paddy's day....... that would mean that we would have won our first one.

---They are a North-Eastern team and close to ESPN and national media centers...... It seems most national sports media types seem to think that most great basketball teams are located there and in the ACC.

--Another reason that only 2,700 showed up for our final home game... They don't understand it or what it can mean for the university.

-- It is not jealosy.... It is resentment for all the hatred and bad things they have done to us and sasid about us all these years. I am tired of their arrogant hateful and dishonest comments in DMN and other places.... TCU (and others) has the same opinion of them as well. If you don't understand it, then you have not lived long enough.... UNT- 1966 I do agree on one thing... ignor those jerks... they are has-beens...

---I am hope we are a 14 seed because that would likely give us a good chance for as upset. 16's have never won and 15's rarely do. I would not shocked if we get paired up against the Aggies.... Not predicting it exactly but it looks very possible. ---We looked quick and VERY aggressive... We missed a lot of shots that should have been made and the free-throw shooting was awful. Even rebounding could have been better as we had our hands on the ball at times but did not control it. Add all this to Davis on the bench and you begin to wonder what could happen if everything went our way (good shooting, free-throws, more secure rebounds and Davis available) The announcer's George Mason comment could come true. ---There may be more Texas teams in this tournament than ever before... North Texas is in and Texas and the Aggies are slam dunks to get in. The Southland should be a Texas team which is four. Tech looks like a stretch but could sneak in with a good Big XII tournament. Our Texas CUSA teams look hopeless with Memphis there and the rest have records that can't get in without winning the tournament which looks impossible. TCU has won one tournament game (last night) but it should end there with BYU next. Texas Southern isn't very good but their whole conference is pretty bad so who knows. --Should be a fun year for Texans... there has been a lot of years that we had no-one, even Arkansas would win the SWC and no one else would make it.

--Appears to be updated...... It states 32 games.... we are 10 in total points and 31 in Avg points... The 10 number will likely drop some as some teams finish their tournaments (some have not even started) and pass our total in points. On the flip side our 31 could go up as some teams fail to meet the average they have now... that group is very closely bunched.

----They loved that long high lob that we slammed in... not sure who did it.

--- One of the real payoffs is recruiting..... Is is easier to recruit well when we get into the tournament.....

--We have won seven (7) of our last eight (8) games.. the one loss was Arkansas State by 3 and we got revenge and won the game that really mattered.. GO GREEN !!

--It might be possible to have more there than at our last game at the "Pit".

--Haven't watch the total a lot but I did see 85.
