--a New Verse Two...!! ---I really am SE-66 and I do approve of this message and the change in lyrics and signature of the Flyer.......LOL
-
--Would rather you did not do that (they can be rather interesting) ---just somehow ban those that that make political, social statements. ---Banning those would take away some of the fun of the board.... and no I would never change mine to anything similiar to what I threatened to do, it would be hypocritical to complain about them and then do the same. Don't let the actions of a few destroy the fun of the others.

---Can't we ban political-type signatures from the board.????.. ----They appear on every post the person does and have nothing to do with the topic or football. An anti-Gore one is posted above now --also in every post he is making on every thread on every topic.. Perhaps I should just change mine to: BUSH approval rating 26%... only 3% better than Nixon ( a GOP-president) when forced from office. or BUSH approval rating 26% which means 74% disapprove of his performance in office.. or maybe football related -- Bush married a SMU grad., should we really support him? ---This stuff need to stop... All is does is irritate people... ---I have posted a few questionable posts but always in response to another post (like this one) and never part of a signature. On the the NON-SPORTS THREAD I posted about the poor support of education from our state leaders but even it was UNT related partially. (I work in upper-level education and I see what is happening to us and UNT, those working in this field understand and we even lost a large part of our health insurance due to a govenor veto this past session)
-
---An easy vote... I am from West Texas... my wife is a Tech grad and I am no fan of SMU.
-
--Flyer... Glad you recognized the truth and realized that the person that said it had to be a Democrat ......LOL Now where are those WMD again?? ...LOL
-
---Maybe but it also about not wanting to be TREATED as 2ed or 3rd class citizens and being looked down on as the "hired help" by a lot of the student body... Even a few students that I know who went there were not all that "wealthy" but wanted to act as if they were and still had an attitude problem. .

- The old Grey Mare, She Ain't what she used to be......We should win.... WE should learn the Lyrics and sing it to them, they would enjoy it, especially in the 4th quarter if they are losing.... (learn verse one anyway) Oh, the old gray mare, she ain't what she used to be, Ain't what she used to be, ain't what she used to be. The old gray mare, she ain't what she used to be, Many long years ago. Many long years ago, many long years ago. The old gray mare, she ain't what she used to be, Many long years ago. The old gray mare, she kicked on the whiffletree, Kicked on the whiffletree, kicked on the whiffletree The old gray mare, she kicked on the whiffletree Many long years ago. Many long years ago, many long years ago, The old gray mare, she kicked on the whiffletree Many long years ago.

---Maybe we will do what TCU did in 2005....Defeat OU in week one, lose to SMU in week two.....then go the rest of the rest of the year undefeated....LOL ---I don't care if we do P*** them off... I just hope our guys don't get overconfident and then we take care of business.
-
--We have ten guys back on defense....plus our offense should be improved......We win... 10 points or so margin.

North Texas Ranked Best In The Sun Belt
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
---Anything over 30-40 years old is crazy......The whole situation changed greatly as of the late 50's and 60's anyway. TV appeared and well as Jet travel. A lot of those earlier games (especially pre WWII) were big mismatches against nearby opponents. ---A look at our SMU games for example show crazy results 1-1-18 before 1950 but since then 3-9 and since 1990, 2-1. prior to 1957 we were playing a small college schedule and only played a few close by major colleges such as SMU was at the time. many of early games were very one-sided. -
---Freshman also contribute at WR very well also. Most other positions it helps to be more physically mature, and it takes time to learn more skills to succeed and compete well at those positions. I think the one spot that freshman show up well will be at WR, followed by RB..

---I think any realignment will begin with problems in the Big East because of the huge size (16 teams) and the fact than half play football and half don't. If that happened then changes will spill over to CUSA which will change the Sunbelt as well plus LaTech will likely change conferences. ---Those expecting Baylor or Colorado to leave the Big-XII will have a long wait if ever. I doubt the Pac-10 will expand any unless something happens in the NCAA which changes things regarding a playoff system. TCU is enjoying great success in the MWC but will that continue and what will happen if it doesn't? TCU is not that large as colleges go and the travel is expensive. If we improve attendance and become a little more respected we may very easily be more attractive to someone than TCU in the metroplex.... we are very large and a state supported university. SMU is history...their glory days are over.... their alums are living in the past. They have little support from the people of Dallas as their attendance shows. Their attitude toward others have destroyed all hope of recovering and has turned people off toward them.

Blue Ribbon Sun Belt Conference Predictions
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to Keith7's topic in Mean Green Football
---It doesn't matter where we are ranked before the season starts or even what others think about us then. What matters is where we finish and what they think of us after it over. In fact I like to be underestimated and then surprising them. It does matter than the coaching staff and players have faith in themselves and the determination to exceed expectations. ---The Sun Belt teams, even though we are rivals, are in this together. I very much hope as a group we can pull off some good upsets against people we are not expected to defeat. Non-conf wins by any of us helps us all.---For example I much rather defeat a SMU team that expects to defeat us and then really disappoint them than defeat a SMU team that expects to lose to us. I will get a great more pleasure out of that.. ---Let's hope we do well against OU and then beat the tar out of SMU.... Anyone hear the comment by "Rome's Burning" yesterday when the guest host said he thought Middle Tennessee and North Texas were directions.... nice guy. We need to make these guys eat their words and shut up. I suppose it is better to be mentioned than be totally ignored... but just barely in this case. -
Watch Out Smut Is On The Board.
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to NTPhiKap99's topic in Mean Green Football
----Spoken like a true North Texan... and one that has been a NT supporter for 20 or so years that understands what those "dogs" have said and done to us.. They have earned our disrespect with their words and deeds. This not just the a normal school rivalry.... -
Would Todd Dodge Sign A Better Quarterback?
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to Cooley's topic in Mean Green Football
---This depends on how the 2007 season goes...... plus needs for the future. There may be other positions where the need is more severe or that what is available at those positions can make a larger impact than another QB. There are only so many "ships" available and they need to be used wisely asnd get the "biggest bang for the buck".... -
Army & Navy Say N O To Big East
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
---I think the Big East is the most unstable conference out there... Too many teams (16) and split 50/50 between those who play football and those who don't. That will eventually cause problems.... also with 16 teams really difficult to be a conference champion... way too difficult.... there will several top-10 teams that will not even win their conference title. -
I Have A Question About Sports Bets
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to Travis's topic in Mean Green Football
---I once knew of a guy named "Big John". He owned a big bat with a metal core... Limit gambling for fun and no expected profits. The advice by that the father gave about those big buildings in the desert of Nevada is correct. They were not paid for by people who went there and won and got rich.. I teach probability and I don't really gamble for a reason.. the odds are stacked against you... A few bucks among friends is a different matter, that I do and even then it is more the fun of winning than the money. ---Even most slot machines average 5% profit (interest) every time you pull the handle. CD's can do the same but that takes a year. --- I even tell my probability classes that if a person does it they should just do it for the fun and not for profit. Our State Lotto system is just another name for a tax on the poor and gullible. Scratch - offs pay out about $450 for every $1000 worth of "tickets". purchased.. The state makes $400, the seller (7-11?) gets $50, and the publisher of the tickets gets about $150. As for pick-six, you are more likely to get killed in car wreck on the way to buy a ticket than you are to win. ---Have fun--- -

1973...Fouts was not that bad in 1973.. ?? UT and A&M still rather small stadiums then, Tech may have been larger than theirs. Fouts was only about 25 yrs old then and a large part of the A&M one was nearly 50 yrs. old., in fact it only held 35,000 until 1969 and much of its dated from the 20's. It now holds 82,000 and I doubt much of the original remains. UT had a track around it for years... The state HS track meet was held there until a few years ago. When they sunk the playing field stands were then built close to the field. Some seats are still a mile away. ---We do need a new stadium to keep up but in 1973 it was not all that bad compared to what else existed in Texas. ... it is that dated now. -
How Do We Perceive This Upcoming Season ?
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to calvin's topic in Mean Green Football
--I agree.... I think a minimum will be 5 wins... a maximum is likely 9. -
There is a lot of truth in this.... Notice when most of these NFL trouble-makers are getting in trouble. Even in most major cities in Europe and America, the subways shut down about 1:00 AM. Anyone who wants to party after that time needs to stay at home and/or with very good friends at their homes.

--Does this mean you are supporting "Green Peace"?
-
---Advertisers might may note of this..... only 42 read this...???. Advertising rates may drop... The online media surveys in Midland/Odessa have far more "voters". But then again most West-Texans are pretty opinionated. ---However if a politician were to report on this he would state that more than 75% of people who attend games will now increase their attendence. (32 of 42) ______________ My wonderful newpaper here in Midland anounced today that local taxing boards are expecting to drop local property tax rates.........They forgot to mention than the local property evaluations are going up by 26%... mine went up 39%.

Now For A Sobering Dose Of Mean Green Reality
SCREAMING EAGLE-66 replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
--When I was a HS junior, my high school (Brownwood, who had won only one district championship in the previous 30 years) was predicted to finish 5th in a 6 team district. We had a new coach that year, Gordan Wood, and WON the State Championship in what is now AAAA with only a close loss to AAAAA Temple. That is bit extreme (but true). Never underestimate what a new coach can do, especially one that that is accustomed to winning and hates to lose. Max Emfinger was on that team as a first year starter at running back. --I don't expect that kind of results but I don't expect us to do as poorly as most are predicting us to do. --You just have to believe that almost anything is possible and never give up, perhaps the other team will get too overconfident and mess up even if they are the better team. Don't believe for a minute that Southlake Carroll (or Brownwood) had the best team on the field in all those wins --- it was determination, self confidence, never giving up, and good coaching that got many of those wins.
