Am I the only one around here who doesnt think that DD is going anywhere for a while? I dont think that the school is going to let him go while he is under contract (translation, I dont think they will pay him to not work). I think that the increase in fan attendance and winning 4 straight gives him alot more rope with the administration than anyone on this board seems to think. I think that it will take alot more losing (loosing) to convince anyone in admin that it is worth spending the money to get a new coach. I also think that every name that has been proposed on this board is out of reach for us. Todd Dodge? really... no chance. a new coach is going to have to need us worse than we need him. I hate to be all doom and gloom, but I just dont see DD going anywhere untill his current contract is up (2010 I think). I ceartainly dont see him going anywhere this year regarudless of how the rest of this season pans out.

Gretchen Bataille- The Death of UNT Athletics
bigrobdsp replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Athletics
Is it really? I belive that the thrid best trumpeteer or the second best Pianist (hehehe) in every high school in north Texas knows about UNT, but I dont belive that anyone who didnt attend UNT knows that it has a good music school. you may now attack. -

Progress of Mean Green Football since 2000
bigrobdsp replied to mad dog's topic in Mean Green Football
our progress has been amazing. thats not to say that it couldnt have been better, but I am satisfied with what has happened in that time. We, as a program, are now ready to take the next step. weather DD and friends can help us with that step is up in the air, but no one should be able to argue the progress since 2000 has been excellent. -
if you think that anyone in Sunbelt play will be comparable to anyone that we have played thus far you are wrong. having played the way that we have so far, I expect to run the conference table.

did these people just start logging on and posting stupid links a few months ago? I never noticed them before then. It seems to always be in the NT Atheletics forum, and it is always a one time poster. I think that these posts should be removed and the author banned from the site when they appear. annoying rant over... for now

these are the 12 prinicples that Bill Snyder laid out in a speech to the college coaches association last year. in my opinion this is the way to build and maintain a college football program: 1. I promise we will get better every day. 2. Be where you are. 3. We must have the total commitment from the president of our university. 4. This is the most complicated time in history for our young people. There is an epidemic of teen suicide in our country. For teens, the single most prescribed medication is for depression. 5. Bring better people and better students into the program every day. Find a way. 6. Involve as many people as possible. 7. Build a wonderful relationship with the faculty. Our goals are the same as faculty goals. 8. Perseverance is a must. 9. Expectations are established by the leader. I will set the example. 10. Tamp down limitations. Find ways to eliminate each one. 11. Have the players understand they will not be judged by the scoreboard. We will assess progress. 12. I will make the decision most beneficial to our program … every time http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/stor...ht&lid=tab2pos3

DMN blurb.NT Notebook NT to adjust Offense take
bigrobdsp replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
this is a smoke screen. he is confusing the Akron coaching staff and defense. then he will have them all softend up and when they are least expecting it... Boom goes the dynamite... draw play off center. it is a magnificent plan. -
if a train leaves Boston at noon traveling 75 miles per hour at the same time as another train leaves Salt Lake City, how long will it take DD to bench a QB with an 80% completion ratio??

what timeframe do you see for the Zone blocking scheme that our offensive line has instaled progressing into a reliable unit? how will that progression go? -rob-

I have not really been able to watch the games as of yet but this makes since. If I am right though hasnt WW had alot of succes with bootleg passes? (the two or three maybe broken plays that he has bootleged on) isnt that what the Texas score was on? also, wouldnt a throwback screen play (screen play where the QB rolls right and tosses back across the field left) work well against this sort of defense? I dont know that WW has the arm to make that throw as it is tough, but I would hope that RF can squeeze some practice time in on these sort of plays in case they get into the same situation against Akron or L Tech. Texas ran an awful lot of these types of plays before perfecting their newest offensive formation with VY. even one or two of these per half should loosen up the running lanes for WW and JT.

OU Robbed
bigrobdsp replied to BoJangles12's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
since I dont like OU or Oregon I feel I am un-biased when I say that that was the worst oficiated game I have ever seen. if they arent going to overturn bad rulings why do they have a replay system?? -
I think it is somthing like 0 for 0 in the past two seasons.
-
did they say that WW was 4 of 5 in passing?? we had one incomplete pass and thats all the passes that we let the guy throw??
-
coaching 101 says that screen plays and quick slants tend to slow down a rush. but since both of those are pass plays I doubt they are even in our playbook. I can promiss that draw plays off center do not tend to work when the middle of the d line is getting great penitration. having said that I am just going to assume that DD and RF are much better versed in football than I am and were working on somthing, but ran out of time before their plan could come to fruition. (sarcasm)

sitting through an entire football game is best done in your own living room.
