I do think it smart though that we didnt sew any logo into the field on the 50 or the 25 yeard lines. This way for special events we can change the logo, or if we decide on something else we can get that on their as well. Unlike the last turf were we were stuck with the eagle head even though we are no longer refered to as the eagles.

What game(s) will yall be going to this weekend? Personally i think im going to drive up and see Gainesville vs. Scott's Valley California Friday night. Then try and get down to SMU to see Highland Park vs Denton Ryan Saturday evening.

I havent been able to hook up the link (so if somebody could help me out on this) but if you go to ESPN's College Football Section, on the front page has a nice story of Jamario and Patrick. Mentions that the only fighting they do is on the road when it comes to what will be watched on the TV. It seems that Patrick is a sports fan and wants to watch other football games on GameDay, but Jamario (with that kid in him still) want the cartoon channel.

QUOTE(GreenN'walinsVet @ Aug 19 2005, 10:27 AM) Maybe its just me, but im not seeing the point of this post. Yall are saying that we didnt bring in any QB's. Now let me get this straight. When the recruiting process was going on, #1 We didnt know Byerly was having elgibility problems (if we did then i doubt he would of been participating in Spring Ball and then named the starter coming out of it). We did not know ,but the coaches or some who has that responsibility had to have had a clue that there was a problem , or someone is not doing there job keeping track of academics. #2 We also knew that Meager would be pushing for a starting job (at this time he was injuryless during his time at NT). We also knew he had major surgery and had been injured before #3 We tried and came very close to signing one of if not the top JUCO QB out there. thats great, my point was we should have come close to morethan one. it is a numbers game. you are telling me you would bet the whole season on one guy's decision #4 We brought in 3 (and if you count special K) 4 Freshman QB's during this recruiting period. I count three and I would be suprised if any of them were recruited to fill the spot this year adn obviously that was not enough so far So were are we getting that DD just left the cupboard empty on the QB front??? from where I sit YES #1 Im going to guess but Byerly was prabably not close to flunking out after the fall semester, but as we all know it only takes one bad semester to blow things up. This in my opionion is what happend during his spirng semester. #2 Yes Meager had a major surgery in high school but had come back and led his team to the playoffs injury free and made it through the fall workouts injury free. So are you saying that since Cobbs has had a major surgery that we should assume that he will not make it through the year without getting hurt. What about Scott Hall's injury a few years back, how that work out with his durabiltiy his junior and senior year? #3 I dont think going after 3 or 4 JUCO QB's is the answer to our problems, say we would of landed one or two, the problem is there gone after two years and were back to the same problem we have now. #4 How can you say that the freshman weve brought in this year arnt going to be very good and our answer to the QB??? They havent even finished there first two-a-days yet and your already labeling them as busts. Back in Febuary this freshman class was labeled the best class that DD has signed yet, and the QB's were a big part of that.

So these MAGICAL JUCO QB's we were supposed to bring in, How many snaps have they taken at the Division I level?

I wish i could be ther but im going to the Gainesville @ Frisco Centenial Scrimmage Intead. *Now before yall jump all over me, let me explain that my kid brother is competing for the QB job at Gainesville and its not looking to good. So this scrimmage could be the last time he sees significant playing time.*

Dickey, Villareal contract extensions
GreenN'walinsVet replied to Baby Arm!'s topic in Mean Green Football
If you ask me going for it in the situation is giving up cuz if you dont make it then the game is over. By punting you still give yourself a chance to win the game. I know yall will say but IF we get it then were in the game, true but to me the risk ( not making it and the game is over) of going for it at the situation doesnt outway the reward ( 1st and 10 on our own 30 or 35, with an offense that couldnt move the ball all half). -

You have to look at it this way. A twenty point deficit in the middle of the 4th quarter is not impossible, but a 27 point deficit pretty much signifies the perverbial nail in the coffin. -

No were talking about the same bubble, it is enclosed. Its also heated and airconditiond. What i was trying to say is that they kept the cost down becuase it is nothing more then just a bubble. There is nothing permanant to it. If they wanted to they could just trun off the vacum and it would deflate just like a balloon. -

The reason that it was ONLY 4 million is because it nothing more then an air bubble. It has no exterier walls of any substance and no roof of substance, its basically just a big tent that has been inflated. Now am i saying that its not nice, or that i would object to us getting one. NO!!! -

Interesting Picks On First Weeks Games
GreenN'walinsVet replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
They would defintly get beat by Celina and Denton Ryan, Pilot Point would go down to the wire and would probably depend on whos got the home field advantage. Oh nevermind cuz even if they were playing in Dallas PP would have twice as many fans. Edge Pilot Point -
One thing you have to look at with our situation is how it happend. Its not like our Coaching staff planned on not having a QB with experience but when you lose your Senior (that has started in the past, and won a bowl game) get killed in a tragic accident and then your backup last year (projected starter this year) become acedmically ineligible then your going to have to find somebody that has less experience. Its not like they could of gotten Meager any snaps last year because he was redshirted. Would you have rather them burn his redshirt so he could get two or three snaps in a couple of games, or leave it on him so he has 4 complete years with us as the potential starter?
-
I think the key to this game is how good will are going to be this year. KSU isnt nearly as good as CU was last year, so if we are as good or better then we were last year then i believe with the right game plan we can go up there and be playing for a win in the 4th quarter.

Facts About Logo's on New Turf
GreenN'walinsVet replied to meangreenfreak's topic in Mean Green Football
When Texas A&M switched there field from astortruf to natural grass a few years back they went with the no logo at midfield for several years. I believe they started putting a center logo down when Fran. came to town. -
Facts About Logo's on New Turf
GreenN'walinsVet replied to meangreenfreak's topic in Mean Green Football
If you ask me there leaving it blank, not becuase they plan on leaving it that way all the time, but rather this way everytime LJ and his little minions change the logo they can repaint the correct one on the 50! Or maybe there leaving it blank so that they can rotate the 30 or 40 we already have every game, thus ensuring that everbody will be greatly confused every time they walk into FOUTS -
UNT vs. LSU delayed television broadcast

I do believe that Gainesville is running on Cox cable, not sure about anyother towns in north texas? -
It seems to me were missing the obvious here. Attendence may be a question but when isnt it? The BIG thing here is that there is a good possiblility that we are going to be on National Television twice this year (not counting a potential bowl game) and that both of those games are going to be televised at HOME! Now i could be wrong, but to me this seems like a tremendous opportunity for the Universtiy to show its self off. Not to mention all of those borderline alumni that we keep talking about to turn on the TV and see there alma-mater playing on National Television at Home. To me that will bring more of those fringe alumni out of the woodwork then a billboard or flyer.
