Hell if were just going to settle then I say scale back Jerry World to hold 45,000 and up to 60,000 and send that bad boy up here.

So if memory serves, the only early commitment we lost was a kid who is no longer playing football. Correct?

Okay so lets take Rivals ranking and break it down. You say that TD is not making a jump in recruiting right? 2003: Coming off 2 straight SBC Championships and a Bowl Victory UNT = #9 in Texas (Texas A&M, Texas, Texas Tech, SMU, Houston, TCU, Baylor, Rice) UNT = #4 Sun Belt 2004: Coming off 3 straight SBC Championships UNT = #6 in Texas (Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, TCU, Houston) UNT = #1 Sun Belt 2005: Coming off 4 straight SBC Championships UNT = #9 in Texas (Texas A&M, Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, SMU, UTEP, Houston) UNT = 4 Sun Belt 2006: UNT = #10 (Last) in Texas UNT = #4 SB 2007: TD's first year (6 weeks to recruit) UNT = #10 (Last) in Texas UNT = #8 (Last) Sun Belt 2008: TD's first full year recruiting: Coming off a 2-10 year UNT = 5 in Texas (Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor) UNT = #1 in Texas, Non BCS UNT = #1 Sun Belt If you can honestly look at those recruiting numbers from the past 6 years and tell me that TD is not raising the recruiting around here then your crazy. the only year that Rivals has ranked higher then this one was 2004, in witch DD was coming off 3 straight SBC appearances. This years class (Although ranked lower) is better then that years in Texas Before you call TD a bust in recruiting, lets see what happens when he actually starts to win more then just a couple of games

There Will Be A "signing Date" Event
GreenN'walinsVet replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Football
Just to give yall some insight on this. I had a shoulder reconstruction done in late June. My injuries were similiar to Riley's . To this day there still isnt a day that goes by that i dont still feel some pain in that shoulder. I tried to play a little golf for the first time last week and i am still feeling the pain and soreness from that trial. I would be willing to say that with 99.9% certainty Riley will redshirt this year. we have a QB that is more then capable of running this offense. Riley is considered small and an injury risk at this point in time as it is. There would be no reason to rush him to the field unless VIZZA were to go down early in the year and be out an extended period of time. -

Deloach's Reputation Led To Return
GreenN'walinsVet replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes, especially at the smaller schools, but im pretty sure most college and even pro DC's coach a position -
Funny how some people on here complained tha with the bigger venue and larger ticket prices that there would be plenty of seats available for this, but guess what SOLD OUT

Now I know that Im no recruiting expert, but how can Troy be ranked higher then we are? And 21 points higher as well? North Texas = 24 commitments Troy = 16 commitments North Texas = 2 signed LOI Troy = 0 signed LOI North Texas = 7 3* recruits Troy = 4 3* recruits North Texas = 1 5.7 recruit (Dodge) Troy = 1 5.7 recruit North Texas = 2 5.6 recruits (Edwards & Horton) Troy = 1 5.6 recruit North Texas = 4 5.5 recriots Troy = 2 5.5 recruits North Texas = Avg. 2.29 stars Troy = 2.00 stars North Texas = 0 5.0 recruits Troy = 0 5.0 recruits North Texas = 1 sub 5.0 recruit Troy = 2 recruits not even ranked Now I dont know about you, and you can look at all the lists you want, but something is a miss when you can look at those numbers and tell me that Troy's recruiting class on paper is better then ours!

Who Should Td Hire As The Next Defensive Coordinator
GreenN'walinsVet replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
Did you watch the game? I would guess that UT's average starting field position in that first half was on our side of the field. For a defense to only give up 28 points in that first half was amazing. Not to mention that once the offense at least started to move the ball a little in the second half, our defense really started to dominate the Texas offense. It was truely amazing to watch. -
New Stadium Questions: What Comes First, Design Or Cost?
GreenN'walinsVet replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
Part of the reason the Cowboys Stadium pricetag is going up is beccause Pro teams have started a trend of beginging a building project before the stadium is completly designed. When they started contstructing the Cowboys stadium it was only 80 or so percent designed. Once they get the structure designed they start building to reduce the construction timeline. So the reason its going up is because Jones is continually adding more and more details to the stadium witch in turn is rising construction costs. I wouldnt think we (NT) would have to worry about such a thing. Since we are limited to a budget (for the most part) unlike Jones, I have a feeling our stadium will be designed down to the last detail, then and only then will we ask for bids on it. Then we will use those bids, to select the contractor that we want to build it and go from there. -
To your original question: Yes it is common for the home students and fans to harrass the opposing team

I Gotta Wonder About The Tre Newton Rumors
GreenN'walinsVet replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Football
You also have to remember that when J-Mo was recruited we didnt know about it until signing day or maybe a couple of days before. We didn't have the luxury of talking about it for months before hand. I can also tell you that before the spring game when Dickey would meet with those interested and show them the recruiting tapes of recruits, i can remember him telling us that he didnt want to show us J-Mo's tape becuase it was scarry good, and he was 115% right. Watching that highlight tape there was no doubt that we had the talent to be GREAT and when healthy he WAS. -
Smut Targeting Larry Coker As Coach?

The extra semester really doesnt make a difference I think this means that Todd Dodge decided that Vizza is going to be the starter next year and Riley didnt have a chance to getting it. Now instead of coming in and wasting the best part of his senior year, he can now enjoy it and once he gets here he will redshirt and still be at the same point this time next year as he would of if he would of enrolled in December
-
You are exactly right, if you looked at his contract you would notice that if he became the associate AD after this year (a stipulation put in place after last year) he would recieve a pretty hefty bonus and be guranteed a job for the rest of his life. Also after last year he negotiated a 2 year contract for all of his assistants with a gurantee that they would be back next year or recieve a nice buyout. Basically after last year he negotiated his contract to set him up for retierment after this year.
-
So all of you that want Meager to leave let me ask you a question? What happens if Vizza gets hurt next year? R. Dodge - never had a college snap - not to mention you would have to burn his redshirt more than likely N. Tune - As far as I know he's never had a college snap either (if he has it's only a handful and was in mop-up duty - OU maybe?) M. Phillips - Not to bad, does have experience, but there was a reason he was fourth string this year God help us if Meager leaves and Vizza has to leave the game for some reason.
-
If this hire is true, it could help build that rivalry betwenn us and SMU. The game this year with Navy im sure didnt hurt us in his eyes, and after that trip I'm sure we would like to make a return tirp every two years

There may be quite a few people that will come to the game because its the last one in the Orange Bowl, but have nothing to do with either school.

From Bowling Green Daily News 11/27/2007
GreenN'walinsVet replied to GreenEggs&Ham™'s topic in Mean Green Football
I agree with you in the fact that it did give these guys something to play for and to motivated them. I think it was very clever and respectful by the school and the coaching staff. The only thing that makes it sound funny is the 7 win thing. Now I dont know what kind of team yall were supposed to have and maybe 7 win was really reaching out there, but to me they should of put that number at about 8 or 9 because, Yes 7 wins would get you a chance at a bowl game, more then likely it would not get you a conference championship. So in my opinion for 7 or 8 wins they should give the players something that would of been equal to that of bowl game gifts and save the rings for a 9 win (semi championship season). But again that is just my thoughts, but i do think that giving these kids something to play for after it was taken away from them was very admirable. -
I would think this kid would red-shirt to give him time to add some weight and fully learn the defenseive side of the ball
