MGB breaking news -- regents approve new venue
GreenN'walinsVet replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
We were jaded with the seating situation at Fouts. If the Bleachers are directly on the track straight away then its not to bad for soccer at all. Think most High School Football Stadiums (Well small school stadiums now). The problem becomes when they build the jumping pits between the stands and the track and then the playing field (ala Fouts). -
MGB breaking news -- regents approve new venue
GreenN'walinsVet replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Could the land housing the current soccer stadium house the new IPF? -
Spitballing, but we know the BOR is discussing Littrell's contract. If that is tied to the assistant salaries this could have something to do with the wait to see what their final budget will be?
-
Have zero info, but maybe they are looking to incorporate the offices into the IPF to allow more room in the Athletic Center, for Team Meeting Rooms, expansion of weight room, etc...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if were to end up not using all the scholarships from this past class, we can backwards apply the blue shirts to this class as well.

MGB: Thoughts on where UNT could turn for new OL coach
GreenN'walinsVet replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Gill does have some coaching experience. He as a grad assistant here and then moved to Texas as a grad assistant. So he has been coaching for the past 3 years. -
Current 2018 Recruiting Standpoint
GreenN'walinsVet replied to AustinFromUNT's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Only problem with throwing out handfuls of offers is if you start to get early commitments you have to start pulling offers on other kids and those positions. Then if those commitments back out you could be in trouble. -
247 Final 2017 C-USA Recruiting Rankings
GreenN'walinsVet replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Lets all not forget that we have one of the best "recruiters" around over in the Super Pit. Hows the basketball team doing this year on the court? but don't worry they won many recruiting battles over the past several years. UTSA kicked our ass this year on paper and that has me concerned, but lets see how many were reaches academically and socially. Remember, it is just february, there is still a lot of time to go before these kids get to campus and then stay all 4 years. Also, as i saw mentioned earlier, taking chances on kids that might be higher ranked but have a chance of not showing up in August is really a luxuray this staff can't afford right now due to our limited number of scholly players in the program. Therefore, it does seem as though (listening to Littrell) that they took kids they are very confident would show up in August and stay with the program. Once they get the overall numbers up then maybe they can start going for the bigger fish, but sometimes its 2am in the bar, you haven't been laid in over a year, and you have to give up on the smoking hot blonde for the cute homey girl that you know you can take home. Now, after a few weeks of the homey girls you arn't as desperate for action, you start taking more chances with the super model type girls. -
I've been right here listing to the same crap year after year, and using whatever formula one wants to use to make his point. Stars matter when you have a class full of stars Stars don't matter when you have a class full of no stars Offers matter when you have a class full of kids with lots of offers Offers don't matter when you have a class full of kids with little to no offers Rankings matter when you are ranked high Rankings don't matter when your not All I'm pointing out is that while this kid may well indeed be a fallback player, the fact the we had a fallback option for our highest thought of player with a player that will be thought of as the 3 or 4th highest thought of player is a recruiting win.
-
so now starts don't matter?
-
so we complain that we are not out recruiting 3 star guys and settling for 2 stars. So we go out and find a 3 star, offer, and then get commitment and we complain because its a fallback option? It continues to amaze me the level some around here go to, just to complain about something.

You could certainly make the argument either way, but in the eyes of NCAA and College Football in general, i am of the mind that the Baylor scandal is much worse the Penn State, due to one certainty. The Baylor scandal impacted the the product on the field. Recruiting, allowing players that should have been kicked off the team or at least suspended some time to play, etc...... While the Penn State scandal was probably morally worse given that it happened to underage victims, the NCAA should have more obligation to punish Baylor because of the on the filed advantages it game them.

Don't forget our rankings are going to be low this year due to the lack of class size.

At AT&T Stadium rooting for The Woodlands

Whoops!! That ain't working out so well -
Completely agree. When a stadium affords me to do so my preferred seat is up above a corner of the end zone. Can see down the field to see the plays opening up as well as still have a somewhat side view to get a better idea of where the officials are when spotting the ball to see 1st downs and the such

I would really like to see us use this wing pattern on all of our helmets. Looks much better than the whole SOW on the helmet

I don't guess you know how college football works do you? Because of our 1 win season last year, we lost 3/4 of a recruiting year, we have a new coaching staff, a new administration staff, have had multiple players quit, therefore forcing us to put out a mostly young and/or inexperienced and undermanned roster. There has been plenty of bright spots but lets face it, if the roster and two deep that we have, there are going to be games just like yesterday. Garbage. Its how they learn and grow from that experience that will make the difference. But to sit back and think that last year had no impact on this year then you sir are a fool. Just like this year is going to have a huge impact on next year and then year after that, and so on...

100% agree. Halftime is very good. Pregame is very bad. This is where the new AD needs to get involved. Let the GB have the halftime show, but lets get them more in tuned to hyping up the crowd before the game.
