NATIONAL GUARD QUESTION
THOR replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
so what's your address(I know you cant give it for other reasons)? sleep with unlocked doors to your house? never lock your car? let everyone come on in and take what they want, it's just property, as you say, but it's property you worked your ass off for and it's safety for your family, their livelihood. don't go someplace you don't belong, don't enter a place you aren't invited into and all is good. looters are choosing to do the opposite, that's on them, not owner- 50 replies

NATIONAL GUARD QUESTION
THOR replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
who cares about disrespecting a police department. the city's obviously need help. people said the government reacted to slowly to the coronavirus, we don't need to say the same thing about the governors if they don't help prevent the looting/vandalizing. -

I don't get it unless he just wants the island life yes they throw a lot...3 1000+ yd receivers last year, just thought he would land at a larger, more prominent school. great for him to find a new place to play...will be watching late night hawaii games

that is REALLY reaching when the science has shown that that statement is true. that doesn't mean people want them to die. it means they need to take precautions and not be out and about. the economy needs to get going. the younger, under 65 and healthy, need to get out and work. people need money for their families. you're a smart dude, but your explanation is batshit crazy.

although i agree with you about not always trusting the experts, specifically fauci here, at least he seems to have an open mind about adjusting and changing his outlooks. many on here have ZERO desire to change their original thoughts/beliefs or ever admit they were wrong about something. i find that more disturbing.

yes, but not in a negative way (well negative in how i teach, but positive in that i barely work yet still get paid the same). it's weird. i teach, well sort of. teaching in denton during this virus has made my life easier and i work even less than i used too, but it absolutely sucks. i put out 3 assignments a week...see if they turned it in and pass them. that's what i'm supposed to do. no new teaching,...it's been a boring 8 weeks of stupid review videos and webquests. kids are appreciative of it (they have told me it helps keep them busy) but it absolutely sucks. i hope i never have to teach from home again. no way is it the same as an in person class with discussion, rabbit holes to run down, fun interaction with the kids. those schools that are going to online only for the fall will hurt those students the most.

one thing i learned in another thread is that it's basically an emotional v logical argument (based upon a users description of each side) one side that wants to shut everything down and stay home is using emotion one side that wants to open up and let people have choices in their lives are using logic i'm sure i'm wrong to the experts here (i'm no expert) and just making a generalization, but it's a thought

i have a friend that has a booth in a salon. she is getting 600/week from relief + unemployment....she is making more now compared to when she was working. she has zero desire to go back to work. that is a problem. edit: i think my friend sucks for this mindset, i get it, but she sucks and just wants free money

i haven't received the flu vaccine in 7 years....got tired of getting it...and guess what? i've not had the flu once in those 7 years. looking into the magic 8 ball: i'm douchebaged this year and will probably get the flu

makes perfect sense...i've been saying all along that if you are under 60 and no underlying conditions, you need to be out and about. open up stores, open up everything. people need to make a living to survive. if you aren't comfortable with it, don't go out. every store delivers nowadays. you could never leave your home and get everything you need. it's common sense....if you are at risk, don't go out, order everything to be delivered and protect yourself.

if it's required, i'll wear it...ill just get one of the helmets that you can put beer in and run the straws to my mouth under the mask, it's all good for me!

no idea...it's a rock and a hard spot, but i just believe the individuals need the help, not the businesses. the businesses are much more profitable and should have cash if needed. most people have to live paycheck to paycheck and they need the money, not a business. i do believe that when one business fails, another one shows up. if the business is needed in the community, someone will take advantage of that and start another one. out on 380, it's funny how businesses close up, then quickly are replaced by the same type of business.

this is a fun read and really shows how some people are. a few folks have changed their minds a bit/recognized the other sides thoughts/understood where others are coming from and have stayed positive, although disagreeing, without attacking the others, while a few folks have gone out of their way to prove one side wrong/don't acknowledge other peoples beliefs and thoughts/criticized others lack of knowledge and common sense....interesting. two very distinct sets of people on two different sides of covid and how to deal with it. i'm sure neither group is an example of all the people on each side of the subject, but it does open one's eyes about people on gmg

maybe this will stretch out for over a year or maybe we will see that covid really isn't as bad as it's made out to be. yes, the virus can still spread, but that doesn't mean doom and gloom and it doesn't mean that we are in the clear either because the death toll is so low. i really don't know what the right answer is.

honestly, i don't have a clue, but i think much more than what is going on now. in denton county, there have been (updated today) 803 total cases, 389 are active, 392 have recovered, and 22 deaths....with a total population of almost 900k...so .089% of the county has had it/has it.....00244% of those ending in death...those aren't numbers that i believe we should shut the county down, especially when young/healthy people have almost nothing to worry about.
