That's exactly what they did, shotgun start in morning and and shotgun start in afternoon. Since you didn't know that, i'm not sure how you could know whether they are attracting enough to fill up both flights. I didn't count this year, but it's pretty much sold out every year. This year was a bit odd because it got rained out due to the rain in May.

I’m not saying we don’t have a lot of room for improvement, we do. But keep in mind those rankings go by total points, not average of recruits. To me that’s just as important. We had fewer signees to date that most other teams, but our average looks to be right in the middle of the AAC from my quick glance. In other words, we could take more lower ranked recruits and be higher, but that’s really not going to help us improve quality in the field.

I think this answers the question of why.

It’s a bit of a risk, but he has a lot of positives. Strong Texas Ties, been a head coach, successful coordinator at P5 level. I think he can bring a lot to the table (I hope) - he needs to recruit better and he needs to get engaged with/get the fan base excited. If he does that, he is an upgrade.

From what I understood back when he signed after being drafted, Part of his Yankees contract included them paying for college if he didn’t make it to majors after a set time, so I wouldn’t think we are using a scholarshiP on him.
