  1. stop and think about this comment, and remember, this is not thebleacherreport. It is ESPN.
  2. I agree that the sound from the monitors is at times ear piercingly loud. I've been to professional games and other large college games at other stadiums and have never been assaulted in my ears like that. It's like they need a governer on the system that will not allow the decibels to go over a certain level no matter how loud our announcer screams into the mic. Even my parents complain about this. Do we need to hire a sound engineer or what?
  3. That's unfortunate. We also can't paint all of us with the same brush.
  4. So, you DO hate frats then. I thought so. Frat hater.
  5. Please use the proper term "ain't". Thanks. - Department of Texan
  6. This is a very good point, relative to the percentages of teachers we graduate compared to engineers, etc.
  7. I know. I'm really impatient. This is just a cool project. So.... anyone got any updates? Like, the real project, not P1's super awesome back yard dunk-o-rama.
  8. meh. whoop-de-do: TCU grads make $7k more a year yet pay around 3-4X as much for their education. My perspective is that based on these numbers, I made the same amount starting out 12 years ago as a TCU grad and more than the mid-career TCU grad as well. winning.
  9. This is just so frustrating. Look DT is fine for now, Berglund may or may not be better next year (my hope is that he is, but it may be a 50/50 chance). But all this heartache in my opinion could be wiped away next year with one fantastic DT or DE recruit pickup during this year's recruiting season. I'm talking a high 3 star or heaven forbid... a 4 star? Is this the hardest position on the whole field to land that type of a player? If so then we should focus A TON OF OUR RECRUITING effort on a handful of those types of players. Am I stating the obvious? Mac in house visits, hard sells EARLY. Get on it because that is our #1 area of need RIGHT NOW.
  10. We're still talking about Southwest Texas State University??
  11. Video at the bottom was old and disclaimed as so, but how hard would it be to send a reporter out to do a new set of interviews with the new coach and staff. Ok maybe I'm asking for too much?
  12. Good lord if I thought this comment on research dollars would bring in debbie downer I never would have posted it. Look we all realize we have a ways to go. My point was to show the bigger picture, positive momentum and focus on the way forward.
  13. Well, kudos for RV and whoever else got this done. Great timing, obviously.
  14. dang, I accidentally gave you a -1 when I meant to give you a +1 - sorry!
  15. Here's why it is so exciting to have a guy like Rawlins as the pres. in my opinion. I think he sees UNT more like a Texas A&M class school as opposed to a let's say Memphis or Southern Miss. class school. What I mean by that is Memphis and USM are fine institutions, don't get me wrong, but we are simply in a different situation entirely. We will be close to 40-45K students in the next ten years and at that point we are a big boy. We need to do the following, some of which we are already doing and/or have plans to do: - Increase the size, quality, and footprint of the various college's facilities (many have been ongoing and many more planned) - Improve our outbound communications to all types of media (higher quality, better message and consistent vision for the future) - Move into better athletic conference (done - for now... if you catch my drift) - Improve overall academic standing (in progress, but need to focus more on this) - Improve research funding (doing not so well here but we do have a focus on it.) As many have stated previously, prior presidents and chancellors have not seen any of these as necessary and or worth spending time or much effort on. We have only really been pursuing some of these goals in the last maybe 10 years. I hope we're able to keep this momentum going. It does feel like we have so much steam built up behind this shift going on that it will be hard to stop.
  16. well ok. There is plenty of space around the stadium, various areas around the other buildings over there. I don't see this being a major problem, some folks will need to shift around, but there is still plenty of open area - I believe around the pond is usually pretty unclaimed, as far as I can recall.
  17. Wait. Wait. Are you saying my dream of a 2016 Mitchell/Coleman presidency is not realistic? I guess I'll have to just recycle all 10,000 of those yard signs.
  18. Wow, Mitchell front and centering the picture right next to the Michigan player!
  19. So, airborne tortillas = bad. flinging popcorn = good.
  20. Have you been watching the same games as I've been? Troy... for example?
  21. Yep, sure do. Say what you will about Darrell, but he was one hell of a motivator.
  22. Love the way that Brock runs with his head down jamario style. j-e-t-s jets! I don't care if it is sisters of the poor competition. He looks fast to me eyeballs.
