Yes. Both of my parents are coming as well and maybe a couple of the kids so about half of our usual 8 season ticket crew.

guess he forgot to LOCK THE INTERNET GATES

I'm not saying I don't believe it but by definition it is hearsay. Your internet buddy told (maybe you know him I have no idea, I'm choosing to guess that you do indeed know him) you he heard from someone else and you believe it. That's fine but that is hearsay. RANGERS UP 2-0

It is interesting because this as far as I'm aware is 100% hearsay. However it is recited as gospel here on GMG.com

Free beer to all remaining fans. Make it happen. EDIT: Also, half price on all food, everyone gets free chairbacks and.. A shrubbery. Make it a nice one.

I laughed out loud at this. This I started gently sobbing. This is so true... I just don't know even where to start or how to agree with this more. I really thought when Apogee was built that all of our issues with basic coordination and execution of events would improve. I mean it HAD TOO right? We just spend close to 80 million on a beautiful new stadium, we were taking ourselves seriously now. We were going to promote, act big time, all of that. Then I started to notice some things. Concessions. Event Staff. Game day operations and jumbotron nonsense. It just kept getting worse and worse to the point where I just felt they all just show up on game day and do whatever they feel like. Honestly I've been to minor league baseball games that feel more cohesive in their gameday atmosphere.

It seems kind of silly to me to throw the baby out with the bathwater on this one. Yes he's done some really really bad things with regards to hiring and such. He may be the best fundraiser in the entire university. Why get rid of that? Just change his title to fundraising chair and then go hire a new AD. If RV's cool with that, (oh and by the way, at a somewhat reduced salary) then why wouldn't we do this? Don't give me the nonsense about RV meddling in the AD's affairs. I think he'd be just fine with his new role and would stay out of the day to day activities of the AD's office. Or maybe I'm way off but do we want to piss off the $BMDs? No, we absolutely do not. So we need to be careful about how this firing is handled. If a firing even happens which I'm starting to feel more like it won't happen anytime soon.

I say let's just shut down the stadium then. Lock the gates. No seriously, let's lock the gates and not let any fans, players, coaches or anyone in the stadium. If the opposing team arrives, tell them we give up. The whole school gives up. The players had bad attitudes so they are taking what are are calling a "time out" for the next 3 games. - Stadium staff - furloughed. - Band - you guys have more time to work on your studies. You weren't trying hard enough anyway with your lack of showmanship and shorts (really, though. shorts?) - Season ticket holders? It's your fault too for not demanding more of the players. We'll take your money and donate it to the homeless of denton. - TV? Show reruns of Seinfeld. Run a ticker at the bottom that reads "UNT Has decided to cancel this game due to fan overreaction. Enjoy this pointless Seinfeld rerun". Of course this is all absurdist, but isn't this what you're advocating? I'm going to be there, it's still my University. If those young men who had to live through Mac's disaster care enough to keep showing up, then so will I.

Going to be there with my Aggie Dad, who's a season ticket holder for the past 10 years. Think about that. Yes, he's my dad and all but he's still sat through the following painful experiences: - Darell Dickey blackshirts - Todd Dodge (nuff said) - Mac's minstrels He tells me stories about TAMU pre-co-ed days when the team was horrible and he still set through games in the stands as a young undergrad laddie. So we'll be there, we just love watchin' us some foosball. Macball was too tough to watch. Tougher than DD ball which was also (minus the winning) tough to watch. Stan R loves him some Chico ball (post Todge Chico ball is what I'm expecting to see).

I just don't think it is going to happen. RV will "hire" the next UNT FB coach. My only remaining hope is that the President will hire Fritz Von Erich and put RV in the Iron Claw and force him to submit to whatever pre-approved choice Smastrek and his committee approves. I'm not sure that's any better however than letting RV pick a candidate from his committee though.

Crikey we're being harsh on the 3rd person reference thing. Look, Stan R don't care if the ole' OC coach uses 3rd party references. Stan R don't give 2 craps if he campaigns for the HC position. Stan R... Isn't advocating hiring Chico. Stan R, however, does reserve the right to be excited about what Head Coach Chico brings to the table here to mix things up. Stan R doesn't appreciate the bashing of former OC now Head Coach Chico for frivolous things. Stan R things maybe we're a bit wound up over our team and program issues and that we are possibly taking out our frustrations on the poor temporary-almost-certainly-never-to-be-head-UNT-coach. Stan R things maybe we should all chill out and let Chico try to take on the impossible without us bashing his choice self-referential references. -
Since this is sort of a "Current state of Denton, TX" type thread, I'll add this: Driving through and around the downtown square I was shocked how much development has happened in the blocks surrounding the square. Looks like a very cool place to just walk around now. Compared to when I was there it was pretty shocking.

This is the real threat to football's existence as a sport. My kids called me out on this the other day like this: "Dad, if you know these people are getting traumatic brain injuries and it is now confirmed by many, many different scientific studies as well as real life evidence (multiple suicides, living retired NFL players like tony dorsett's deterioration at a relatively young age) - how can you continue to watch this and sanction it? Aren't we accessories to this problem?" Ok not those exact words but that was the jist of the conversation. So my response was "Yeah well, umm.. but.. I really love to watch it and... Lot's of other people watch it... and... Maybe they'll just change some stupid parts of the game like spearing and leading with the head... Tackle heads up etc.." The reality is I don't know, I do feel bad, really bad for these guys and I do feel a bit like a hypocrite. This article only makes things worse for me. Now it shows the CTE is not caused by massive concussions. It is (likely) caused by repetitive small jarring hits. I suggest you read this: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2575282-mike-freemans-10-point-stance-are-nfl-players-wising-up-about-cte?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial

First thing I noticed when I looked at the box score from the Iowa game was - "Hey look! DSmith played!" Then, I realized, wait, just for one series? Then pulled? WTF? Talk about a setup. That is even more clear from DMac's comments now.

I sense all black uniforms with block numbers in our near future.

Maybe because people prefer kettle korn and bbq? Dried flies typically cause heartburn. They aren't my favorite desiccated insect honestly.
