  1. So, just to clear things up. Please tell me, emmit, just exactly what you are advocating. Because your mantra is obviously some sort of insult to people with unrealistic expectations so I'd like to hear what your realistic expecations are.
  2. I think this discussion has gotten a little off track. I don't even know what I'm arguing for any more. Yes, you are basically telling me that the only reason that Baylor has better facilities is because they get extra BCS money and UT fans and A&M fans travel well. But I was at Baylor/NT at baylor a couple years ago and I can tell you that there were I think over 30K at the game and MAYBE 5,000 NT fans. That tells me that they have loyal fan base of much higher than 11K, even to see NT. And yes maybe they would drop down to that if they were in the belt. But isn't that also proving my point? We need to use all of our resources to get out of the belt and into the same conference with other recognizable name teams. Bottom line is that with all the "success" that NT has had over the last 5 years we are still clinging on for dear life in D1A. Set you priorities straight: 1.) Increased attendance 2.) New Stadium 3.) CUSA membership That simple.
  3. Considering that the Big East is BCS and CUSA is far from it - I'd say going from 4-7 in CUSA to 6-5 in a BCS conference is a HUGE jump. And the point was that jumping to a "better" conference is a jump in two things, money and attendance and I believe this proves my point. You're implying that NT jumping into a better conference = getting slaughtered by better competition. What USF illustrates is that teams very quickly start recruiting to that next level because - duh they ARE at the next level. A CUSA membership would do a similar thing for NT and I'd argue that in some ways WAC could do the same. But I'm really not arguing WAC I'm really arguing CUSA.
  4. Oh really? How'd that work out for South Florida?
  5. So we have a 6-3 320lb walkon olineman then?
  6. WHOA! Tap on the brakes a bit there Arkstfan! Baylor may not be a "football dynasty" but if you are asking me personally if I like to switch places I'd say the answer is most definately YES! Their facilities are 10X better than ours, fan support is 2x as much, they have 2x better recruiting, etc.. And to top it off they are finally beating teams in the BIG 12. And using DUKE as an example is apples and oranges and you know it. They are a basketball school that happens to play football as well. I don't think you can spin this one as a positive for staying in the belt. I know you are trying to convince us to stay and "build the belt" but I'm fed up with that logic. For NT, it is painfully obvious that we have a 30-40% increase in attendance when a name school comes in the door. NONE of the sun belt schools were name schools except for NMSU. With the addition of F*U we have sripped the conference down to nothing. If you really think we should turn down either MWEST, CUSA or (I'm seriously reconsidering the WAC decision as well) then you are smoking too much hashish up there in Arkansas. Now I know you're a litigator so fire away!
  7. What do you expect with the kind of dollars the SBC has to go around? Did Wright Waters force these refs into this game through some kind of agreement with the NCAA? If so I hold both WW and the NCAA responsible for not screening these refs for talent level. All this exposes is the fact that the TV money that the BCS conferences gets from their TV deals allows them to hire better referees.
  8. AMEN Euless!!! YOU TELL EM BUDDY! Wow it is a bit twilight zone when both PMG and Euless eagle are both bashing DD.. And I think buff64 said it best with the following: "Offense sells tickets". He also said something about defense, but I'll remind everyone The #1 Goal IS TO SELL TICKETS!!!
  9. So I've heard some debate that TT's offense is not the holy grail for our program. While I would somewhat agree that may not be the cure all pill, I'll ask you a couple questions first: 1.) The number one need for NT at this point is attendance. What is the cure for that? 2.) The second most important thing for NT is big money donors. What is the cure for that? Answers: 1.) High powered passing offense that puts up points in bunches and scores 40 points on average in each game consistently. Fans like to see touchdowns and cheer and fire the silly cannon. Winning is secondary in some cases to scoring ridiculously high numbers of points. 2.) 10. umm, am I missing something? Is nobody in charge of well... DENTON?
  11. Why don't you just show up to games with a grocery bag on your head? You can put "DD supporter" on the front. That would be hilarious and a great way to still show up and support the team whilst taking a shot at DD. Hell he may even insult you in post game interviews! Think of the notoriety you'd get!!
  12. Good posts SE and GE. Well next year will be a great opportunity for DD to prove himself at home. or not - as the case may be. Playing both SMU and LaTech at home make this next season out to be the biggest in my history of following the school, PERIOD (follwowing since 1995 ). Has there ever been a better NT home schedule than this one? Potentially winnable games vs. instate schools and another against a school we frequently recruit against. Huge opportunity to win fans, support, recruits. WE SIMPLY CAN'T AFFORD TO LAY ANOTHER EGG WITH NEXT YEARS HOME SCHEUDLE! DD, for the love of all that is holy, please prove your critics wrong next year.
  13. Boy I think that hit the nail on the head. And I'd somewhat agree that the rest of the Belt is raising its expectations and becoming a better league.
  14. I was actually at this game. UH fans were loud and had coordinated cheers. Hmm. Who'd have thunk it? Anyway after leaving this game I've never been so pissed about the state of fan support for NT basketball. BUT, I've since come to my senses and realized that this game was on a friday afternoon, and - their football team was in a bowl that same day in fort worth. Still - no excuses. I'd put it at about 70-30 UH/NT fans. If I was able to take off a day of work to make it up I know more could have as well. And it wasn't exactly fun sitting in a section of scattered red, but I will say that at times the NT fans got pretty loud as well. Over all a fun game and I will be back for many more games. A fun outing for dad and 4yr old son.
  15. Is this the largest OL in the history of NT, weight and height wise?? Now only if we could find some size on the other line... hmmmm...
  16. Don't you know - they're already reading this.. Remember - that's somebody's full time job...
  17. I was about to post that exact same thing...
  18. I like the DB. Good size, I'd question the 4.4 speed as to its legitimacy, but if that is legit then it is an outstanding sign.
  19. Rick you must have been at Grapevine Mills the same day I was - the line was about 50 people long! But at least you found the NT gear. I looked all over the place and found just about every other univeristy in Texas but NT.
  20. Finally we see some dividends from JThomas bringing in some better OL guys.. Hope this continues in the HS signings. Just keep showing them film of JT putting up 250 yards against colorado...
