  1. As an Air Fore retiree, this is disgusting to me but not surprising. There are many great things about the Air Force, but the more senior I rose, the more disappointed I became with its culture. I retired on the very day I could retire.
  2. Several years ago, I went to see North Carolina Wesleyan play Furrum College. At halftime, they had a drawing for a quater side of beef. Maybe we should try that, too?
  3. Per fan, A & M's experditure and our's is not all that different.
  4. Except they have Ark St at 10 and Monroe at 18!
  5. Thanks for sharing these. Bill Mercer was the best!
  6. I know this is not football related but Business Insider named Denton the best small town in America. I suspect all those that live there tend to take this for granted and that's natural, but Denton really is a unique place. Let's hope that with all the development on Fry St and such that the town does not lose any of its "Dentoness" http://www.businessinsider.com/the-ten-best-small-towns-in-america-2012-11#10-tybee-island-georgia-1
  7. Glad for the outcome and hope he recovers soon. Sounds like a good excuse for some Grey Goose tonight!
  8. Maybe, just maybe, someone will say something negative about the Green Brigade, too!
  9. 3 or 4, hoping for more!
  10. Excellent! Videos like this make it easy for most of us to put things into perspective.
  11. Liberty's founder, Jerry Falwell, always said he wanted he wanted their football program to be known as the "Notre Dame of the Protestants". With Sun Belt membership, they get one step closer.
  12. This gets worse everyday. Selig was the AD at Western Kentucky before he went to Old Dominion and I have a suspicion he was behind WKU getting in. But James Madison??? They are a fine school but in the middle of nowhere. They have done very well at the FCS level and were one of the natural rivals for ODU while they were playing FCS football themsleves. In my day, JMU was a girl's school primarily for teachers. Yeesh.
  13. It is difficult to see these programs pull away from North Texas in a big way. Many threads ago, somone asked the question "what was Noth Texas' greatest football victory of all time?" At least one person replied it was our bowl victory over Cincinatti. Shoot, we used to whip Cincinatti like a step child during our MVC days. I cringe when I see that pinhead Lee Corso talk badly about the current UNT football teams. When he was coach at Louisville, he couldn't put anything together against us many years. Of course I am talking about football here but in MVC basketball, we were at least competitive against these great teams. With all the emphasis and money we have put in athletics, we ought to be doing better. Not just in football and basketall, but across the board.
  14. The author of this article needs some remedial English classes.
  15. Joking aside, this is a good thread and begs the question, does our athletic department actually have a five year strategic plan and if so, is it available to all to see?
  16. In year five, I will be looking forward to year six.
  17. I have to agree. If they paid for this, someone should be getting a refund. Also, if I were the ACC, I'd have my attorney on the phone. AA AAA AAC AAU ACC AARP NAACP NCAAA etc etc
  18. Besides wearing the t-shirts and stuff, I invited students and faculty from the UNT Opera Theatre to perform at my opera company's gala last March in New York City at the National Arts Club. The school invited alumni and distinguished guests to join my own guest list to see what a great music program exists at North Texas. There were about 250 NYC "movers and shakers" in attendance. Also, anytime I can hire a UNT alum to sing with my company, I will. http://www.qonstage.com/QOnStage_articles/2012/ccogala/index.html
  19. It's official now. I hope he does better than he did at Washington State. We have hired another head coach with a losing record at his last job. From this article, it appears as if he was let go at WSU. http://www.wsucougars.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/030411aac.html
  20. "Conference USA has the bowl access we will need" Not for long!
  21. The Juicy Pig!! Now you are talking. I remember their fries used to look like pig tails! Not to mention the Circus Cafe on Eagle where they put the gravy under the CFS. Or was it the Big Top?? Down the corridor of years etc. etc
  22. Agree, one hates to start sounding like an old fart, but those MVC games were the best. Watching last night's game, it was hard for me to decide who to root for. We live in Durham and Duke U. provides a great living for my wife but the old MVC ties are hard to overcome. As you can imagine, there are some awfully long faces in town today!
  23. Maybe we should send our quarterbacks to his camp?
  24. The irony is that the ACC started all of this some years ago when they got Miami and Va Tech from the Big East.
  25. I used to agree with that but ACC basketball is not what it once was. Maryland bolted at its first opportunity. Rumors are strong here saying that UVa and UNC will be next. Of course if that happens, the ACC will pick from the NBE and here we go again. It's getting to be no fun anymore.
