You are correct. I remember it well. This was my first game and introduction to the weird world of North Texas football. There were almost no North Texas fans at the game but many Mormons. It was like an away game for us, which of course, we lost. I also recall the Bring 'um young jokes but also recall this chant from that era: Give 'em hell Rod Rust, give em hell... Give 'em hell Rod Rust, give em hell... Ah hell...give em Rod Rust.

My wife works at Duke. While it is correct that many of the students are indeed "rich", it is equally true that many come from less advantaged backgrounds. As with most of the highly endowed elite universities like Harvard, Princeton, etc., if a student is accepted at Duke, then they will find a way for them to attend. The average aid package there is about 42,000 and half of the students receive assistance.

At ten years old, I was in recess at my school playground in Norfolk when the teachers came out and told us the news. We then went back into the building where the 4th, 5th and 6th grades all filed into the auditorium to watch the proceedings on the only television set owned by the school.

I was really looking forward to the home games on MGS but if I recall, there has only been one broadcast so far. Very disappointing.

If these players were so concerned with supporting the troops, let them join up. I find this sort of thing particularly disingenuous considering the football players are about the same age as the troops doing the real fighting.

This is what we've been talking about! We used to do shows like this and each week was different as well. If we had back to back home games, then there was still a new show. This drum corps marching style that we do is awful. What would you prefer, a show like Ohio State's or this performance from a Texas high school? Oops
