  1. Other than a few years of scattered success, we have been this way since I became a fan many, many years ago. I'm not confident our situation will ever change in my lifetime. We do have good company however; the Chicago Cubs, New Mexico State, Charlie Brown, Brazil, and Adlai Stevenson to name just a few.
  2. If the new uniforms are camo, maybe we can sneak up on a win!
  3. You are not the only one confused! I read on Facebook that while we already celebrated our 100 years of football, the coming season will be our 100th as there was no football during several years World War II.
  4. How much did Arkansas State have to pay them?
  5. Russia State is the first school I look for on the Prudential College Scoreboard. Joking aside, it is only North Texas I am interested in for obvious reasons. I do follow the scores for William and Mary, my dad's alma mater, UVa where others in my family graduated and finally Duke, as it provides my wife a very nice standard of living which in turn allows me to spend time on GoMeanGreen.com rather than working.
  6. I know you all are big boys but watching the weather reports coming from Texas can give one pause. I hope you and your families are safe.
  7. Wait until we give Portland State the licking they so richly deserve. Just try and keep us off the field!
  8. Long time fans have more need of a twelve-step program.
  9. At least the SID is not referring to us as North Texas State!
  10. That was very nice! I really enjoyed last night's game and I think we can all agree that it won't be the same anymore without him.
  11. Maybe TWU will hold a mixer following the game? I used to enjoy those. Afterwards, we can put lipstick on their Pioneer Lady statue, just like the old days.
  12. Not so fast, my friend. We'll have to get by Incarnate Word first.
  13. Laugh all you want but at least their students are ready.
  14. When I first saw the title of this thread, I though it read "Slim Whitman was coming to Denton!"
  15. It's a good thing the College of Music is here to boost our academic status. The COM represents less than five percent of the total student population at UNT but yet well over half of our National Merit Scholars are music majors.
  16. I have to admit, Dunham's retirement is a sad day for me. Unlike most of you, I do not live near Denton so he has become my "life line" to the campus. Listening to the sorry play by play announcers for UNC, Duke, and many more has made me realize that George Dunham is among the very best. If only our teams were as good, we would be ranked in the top 25 every year.
  17. This is really bad news for us. I have always thought he was about the best college sports broadcaster I have ever heard and wish him and his family well. As we discuss his replacement, isn't it a bit unusual for a university to employ their own broadcaster? I have never seen this arrangement other than at North Texas.
  18. So, this same computer ranking system had us dead last in C-USA. Ouch.
  19. And an overall ranking of #111. Ouch
  20. I think this is finally the first step in the right direction. Once ESPN and the conferences see how lucrative this can be, it is just a matter of time before we have a 16 team play-off. Of course, we, nor the other G5 schools will get a seat at the table.
  21. It was very nice of them to write "North Texas" on the field.
  22. "This is Bill Mercer broadcasting from The Pit of North Texas State University in Denton. Tonight, the Eagles take on the Bradley Braves in Missouri Valley Conference action. Brought to you by Braniff Airways....Braniff, we move our tail for you." What great memories.
  23. I suppose it could have Benford worse.
  24. This thread is something you would expect to see on the Sun Belt board.
