Ah, the irony...just as there is not a (current) North Texas State, there is no such thing called the NYC Orchestra.

ACC Championship Game - Biggest Non-UNT game of the year?
letsgiveacheer replied to SHOSS's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm still puzzled as to why there has been no mention at all of Littrell possibly coming to North Texas in the RDU local papers or even the UNC campus paper. I know they have other things on their mind but if he is indeed the offensive mastermind behind UNC's success, you would think they would be a little concerned about losing him. My prediction: Clemson 21 UNC 17 (Littrell is preoccupied as he wonders what shade green tie to wear at signing ceremony) -
Of course UNC is best known for their BB teams but they have had some pretty good football teams as well. They had a long run beginning about 1970 and ending in the mid-80's where they were ranked in the top 20 about every year, including some number 3 rankings if I recall correctly.

Ha! Yes, I furnished the plane that is carrying the "I Love RV banner!"
-
Yes he call their plays, but there are two OCs at UNC and he is not one of them.
-
Not to demean him, but Littrell is not the OC at UNC. He is a position coach. http://www.goheels.com/SportSelect.dbml?SITE=UNC&DB_OEM_ID=3350&SPID=12962&SPSID=668155

Something Different - Navy Helmets for America's Game

One would be naive to think that tax dollars are not used in a big way to support our service academies' athletic programs. Most of the other money comes from defense companies such as Halliburton, United Technologies and similar. If you tune in to the radio broadcast of a Naval Academy game, you will not hear Beth Marie's Ice Cream touted as a primary sponsor. Maybe I'm still bitter because as a brand new lieutenant in the Air Force, a portion of my pay was automatically deducted to pay for the AFA Academy's football stadium. -
UNC Message Board On Littrell Rumors
letsgiveacheer replied to greenit's topic in Mean Green Football
UNC has several fan boards, the more active of which you have to pay to be a member. But as I've said, they consider this to be almost a non-event if Littrell leaves. There has been no talk at all about this in the local papers. Chapel Hill is indeed an idyllic college town but UNC has much to answer for regarding the handling of their 20 year on-going scandal. -

MGB Monday morning search update
letsgiveacheer replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
If I correctly recall from the McCarney hire, his name was not even in the discussion. Then someone came on the board, who had never posted before, and told us our new HC was a position coach from Florida! Obviously, the poster was correct. -

I had thought exactly the same thing! -
I just settled down to watch the game on Fox but the broadcast was delayed until 1030 tonight. Anyone know of a stream, periscope, etc? Thanks.

Only for about 18 years! Even still, nothing much has changed at UNC. http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/22/us/unc-report-academic-fraud/

And they've done things so well at UNC!

We should have invited Portland State.

I hope to see at least some green there besides our team.

Turkey used to be known as "the sick man of Europe" North Texas is the sick man of college football. As I've posted before, I have seen about 15 winning seasons in 45 years of following UNT football. What reasonable person would still be a fan? Hayden Fry could not build any great support. There were less than 300 at Fouts watch us beat San Diego State, ranked 18th at the time. The hiring of Todd Dodge was done with great fanfare. We were a feature story in Sports Illustrated. Look where that got us. If we do hire the right coach and improve, I will go on record now and predict this momentum will not be sustained. Five years from now, we will be be posting similar complaints. We need to recognize that athletics is not a priority at North Texas nor has it never been a priority. And please, no comments about the College of Music stealing resources. Their success has nothing to do with the state of our athletics. When Duke University got tired of losing at football, they convened a summit of past lettermen, university leaders, community leaders and donors. They developed a strategic plan and moved forward. If we are going to put 30 million into a program that makes us a laughing stock of college football, maybe we need to do the same thing? Either show a real commitment, or drop to D2 non-scholarship football and have a good time. BTW, if I can get over the flu, I plan to make the trip to Middle Tennessee this Saturday. Anyone else going?
