  1. Wichita State used to hold the record as the most heavily penalized school in National Collegiate Athletic Association history. Maybe they still do but the competition has gotten much stiffer.
  2. "It makes no sense to see "North Texas" on espn scoreboard" Ironically, we are typically NTU on espn's rolling scoreboard.
  3. I've never lived in the DFW area other then the time I went to school. Other than when talking to a musician, there is almost zero recognition of the University of North Texas on a national level. Much less UNT. I wish I had a dollar for every conversation that went like this: Them: Where do you go to school? Me: University of North Texas (or North Texas State University) Them: Where? Me: repeat the above Them: Oh. With UNT, it would be worse. Virginia Tech used to be commonly known as VPI (Virginia Polytechnic Institute). When they wanted better name recognition on a national level, they started referring to themselves as Virginia Tech.
  4. This is a tough audience. The young man comes here to invite Talon alumni to a reunion and in return, gets instructions about a banner, Hey Baby, and the Fight Song. Anybody else got something for him?
  5. I'm shocked that they have been able to survive without football...athletics being the window of a university and all that. https://www.uta.edu/news/releases/2016/09/Fall-enrollment-2016.php
  6. We should also hire Balado just for spite.
  7. Not to be a smart aleck, but we get excited about every five years. Rooting for North Texas is like kicking a football with Lucy. Still, we are all here, hoping for a turnaround. Maybe this time it will happen.
  8. CoachgMac is probably not the best moniker for him.
  9. They are counting on the Abilene Paradox to boost attendance.
  10. Sushi in Denton, who would have thunk it? When I was in school, the only seafood you could find in Denton came from a Mrs. Paul's box and even that was considered exotic. Rock and Roll Sushi...it's green and mean!
  11. ¡Ay, caramba!
  12. His combined record was only 122-82 in six years. Disgraceful.
  13. 29-24 record as a HC of five years. At least he is slightly above average; something that has escaped us for many years.
  14. Just another directional school. Boston College Rice Stanford Duke Vanderbilt Syracuse Miami Notre Dame USC Wake Forest Tulane TCU Tulsa Baylor SMU BYU PS thanks to Google!
  15. Richmond Spiders...best nickname ever!
  16. Who are our top recruiters? Unless I missed someone (likely), we did not have a single recruiter ranked in the top 600 or so according to 24/7.
  17. Here's the correct article that was printed in today's Pilot http://pilotonline.com/sports/college/old-dominion/odu-will-reallocate-every-season-ticket-at-foreman-field-and/article_11b1e62d-6c66-54f7-9261-cfbf7277597a.html They did a similar process in 2013. One problem they have is that there is little room to actually expand the stadium. The campus is filled to capacity now and in a very old and established neighborhood.
  18. God bless our women's soccer program but even they have never enjoyed a breakout season. People wonder why it is hard to recruit here, win here, etc etc. but the baggage we carry is tremendous.
  19. Trilli won a total of 20 games in his four years at North Texas for a sub .200 winning percentage. Particularly noteworthy was the 2000 campaign when we won a total of 7 games in football and basketball combined. Benford is the next John Wooden in comparison with Trilli.
  20. It was also worrisome that we lost five of our last six games.
  21. According to the rankbyoffers.com site, Baylor is ranked 84th, the lowest of any P5 team.
  22. Or resurrect us from the dead.
  23. Que mala suerte!
  24. Agree 100%. This has gotten out of hand. According to the USA Today chart, there are only 12 out of 231 D1 schools that have athletic programs that pay for themselves. The others finance their programs on the backs of students and through university funds that should be going to academics. Does anybody really think it is right that the highest paid employee at most universities is the football coach? People will say that "athletics are the window of a university" or some such phrase. If that were so, Alabama would be the Harvard of the South and the poster child of the G5, Boise St, would be the next Stanford. I know this is heresy, but I would be happier if all university athletics were played on a DIII level.
