Liberty Now Has Two Weeks to Prepare for NT
letsgiveacheer replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes, Lynchburg is about two hours north of Durham and the most they should get are some heavy rains and high winds. It should not be too bad there. We are expecting the same, only more-so. -
Perhaps this is UNC's golf team rather than UNT's? At the risk of sounding again like the old man I am, the AD needs to get a handle on this. We are one of the few schools in the country that has a color as our nickname and should use this to our advantage.

OFFICIAL INCARNATE WORD vs UNT GAME DISCUSSION
letsgiveacheer replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
OFFICIAL INCARNAL WORD vs UNT GAME THREAD I know the Catholic church has much to answer for in this regard, but calling them out on a fan board is a little rough. -
I checked the Stadium steam schedule and the game was not listed unless I missed something. I went ahead and signed up with ESPN+.

Yes, that was a great came and the only one we played at Texas Stadium that season if I recall correctly. It was too bad we got thumped as there was quite a build up with this being Fry's first game with NTSU. That was also the season that we tied for the MVC championship with a 5-5-1 record, including a win over that pinhead Lee Corso's Louisville team.

Academic Ranking of the World's Top Universities

I really wish these lists would go away. Where is Harvard? Princeton? Yale? 501, 502 and 503 respectively? -

That's all well and good but did they take into account Incarnate Word's secret play? the Hail Mary! -
WSJ: College Football’s Growing Problem - Empty Seats
letsgiveacheer replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
I was speaking to the specific incident about music building funds being diverted to athletics. I was not living in Denton in those days so it was entirely possible I missed something. I recall the primary charge made public against Nolen was the diversion of donations and government appropriations to the NTSU Foundation. Those funds were then diverted to athletics and salaries for Foundation staff members. Didn't the Lt Governor convene a committee to investigate criminal charges again Nolen? Returning to the matter at hand, congratulations to all involved for making the SMU game an apparent sell-out. We can then say our scanned attendance and actual attendance were exactly the same! -
WSJ: College Football’s Growing Problem - Empty Seats

This is what I always heard as well but it was not made public. -
My guess will be green t-shirts, khaki pants, black socks and shoes with a green baseball cap.

2018 UNT vs. SMU FB Opener Attendance Predictions
letsgiveacheer replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I say about 25,000. Now if we had Smatrest the Slammer vs SMU's president on the wrestling card, there would be no question about a sell-out.- 86 replies

UNT Faculty Staff VIP Experience
letsgiveacheer replied to Mean Green Maniac's topic in Mean Green Football
Excellent plan. If we can't get the student-athletes to the classroom, we'll bring the professors to them! 😀 -
Just reviewed the W-L records from the Rust era. In 1968 ( a bit before my time at NTSU), I see we went 8-2. One of those losses was to Arkansas but just two points. Arkansas went 10-1 that year and ended their season ranked 6th nationally. Very impressive!
-
Yes, that's a tough one. He also coached one of the worse teams at North Texas... I seem to recall 50 point losses at home to both Drake and Louisville during the 1-10 1972 season. On the other hand, Rust was the only North Texas head coach to also become a NFL head coach, albeit briefly.

Story on cost of attendance stipend
letsgiveacheer replied to 97and03's topic in Mean Green Football
As I understand, the NCAA has nothing to do with establishing the COA. That is done by financial aid officers at each institution and is applicable to athletes and non-athletes alike. I would imagine you could obtain the methodology for UNT's COA through a FOIA request. Kindly excuse the acronyms. -
Story on cost of attendance stipend

Yes, just as the University of North Texas is a NFP with the football coach also making about 1M. -

According to this website, student-athletes received 3.3 billion worth of athletic scholarships in 2015. http://www.scholarshipstats.com/average-per-athlete.html -
Harry Minium, ODU's beat writer who is often quoted on this website, has announced his retirement from the Virginian Pilot after 39 years. Let's hope his replacement is as diligent. https://pilotonline.com/sports/columnist/harry-minium/article_4045fd22-36a3-11e8-af8d-3772084e590f.html?__vfz=medium%3Dsharebar

I'm 65, but who is counting! Like Silver, I recall Fry emphasizing the Mean Green moniker. Under Rust, we were called the Eagles and rarely heard Mean Green. I recall the first home game with Fry when the lime green jerseys were shown for the first time, along with the infamous flying worm on the helmets, there was an audible gasp from the fans!
