  1. I suspect they still have something to write about. ' From reading the article, it would seem that revenue from ticket sales, donations, licensing, concessions, etc. came to about 7.2M. What is our annual athletics budget? About 30M or so?
  2. After 69, it was hard. Rust finished with a 7-3 record and second place in the Valley but that was his last good year. This was followed with three losing seasons. He could not recruit.
  3. There is the oft quoted phrase on the board, "athletics are the window to a university". Yesterday, I returned home after a two week business trip in Europe. My wife meet me at the airport and shortly said, "have you heard about the incident by the North Texas football player and the raccoon? Yes, I had and then learned this incident has made the national news. I then recalled that he was also charged with spitting on an ODU player and dejected from the game. Every poster on this board but one defended him and said he would never do such a thing. I was at that game and have no idea if he did or did not, but when the game was over, I tuned in the local station to see what they were saying. Wilder said the spitting incident was a rallying point for his team and that they had to find a way to win the game. As we all know, they did. The video is vicious and sickening. I hope the young man can get some help.
  4. True story. When we moved from the Pit to the Super Pit in 1973, I recall very well my astonishment upon seeing 10,000 seats painted in burnt orange! I am not sure what anyone was thinking, or if they were thinking at all, but earth tones were all the rage in those days.
  5. The Denton Sportatorium. We can have rasslin matches there, too.
  6. In 1974, Hayden Fry commissioned a set of beer mugs for his staff and was kind enough to include one for me. It shows the flying worm, my last name, and the words "Super Hack", his theme for that year. All done in that infamous lime green we used at that time.
  7. Yes, indeed. Best team in a very, very, long time.
  8. Others are talking about it, too. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/utah-state-vs-north-texas-score-aggies-tie-school-record-for-wins-with-skeleton-coaching-staff/
  9. Why isn't the band in their shorts? That would have deflected some of the complaints seen here today!
  10. A good old fashioned gomeangreen.com melt down. This is the North Texas I remember so well. #we'rebetterbutthereisabitoftheoldDentonleftaswell
  11. Fun fact: On my Samsung cell, when I enter gomeangreen.com in the Google search engine, "North Texas Athletics" appears high in the results along with the NDSU logo.
  12. Thanks for fixing this!
  13. The video in Cerebus' post was found on the Utah State fan board and came from the last time we played them as members of the Sun Belt. We were on on conference win streak then and there are many great plays to see here, especially the 105 yard fumble return!
  14. I have a BM from NTSU!
  15. We should call this game the towel bowl! https://apnews.com/199f09e90d1aa0a014612771040f4d31
  16. Our only win against a ranked team ever was against San Diego State (18) in 1974. There were 300 fans in the stands but the announced attendance was 1000!
  17. If someone has bought a purple tie in any Denton men's shop within the last few days, we have our answer.
  18. Sounds like there is a fair chance we will be in the Interim Coach Bowl.
  19. Let's do it the SEC way and offer Fine $3M to stay.
  20. Agree 100% we had to move on and get rid of Fouts. My point is that perhaps we could have done more at the last game at Fouts to say goodbye and recognize its importance to our university.
  21. It's a shame we did not do more to commemorate the closing of Fouts. While it had long outlived its useful life, there are many fond memories there held by multiple generations. ODU is demolishing their stadium, Foreman Field, as well as they race to build a new one in time for next season. Following their last game against VMI, they invited Foreman's relatives to turn off the stadium's lights for the last time. Just prior to this, they put together a video showing the highlights of events that took place at Foremen Field over the many years.
  22. I really can't believe this. In my 40+ years of following UNT ball, we have had less than 10 winning seasons and here we are 9 and 3 for the first time in ages. We need to celebrate this moment, not degrade the team's accomplishment. Forty years from now, should we return to our losing ways, UNT fans will recall this achievement with admiration. They will not remember that CUSA was in a down year, or that we had an easy schedule, they will just know of the 9-3 regular season, an achievement not to be dismissed.
