NCAA Finances 2020 (Revenue vs. Expenses)
letsgiveacheer replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm not certain I would draw that conclusion. 68.95% of our budget is allocated. Of all the schools in CUSA, only FIU has a higher percentage. -

Not sure what this guy is smoking....
letsgiveacheer replied to DeepGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Forde is a smart guy. This makes sense to me but of course it will never happen. It is interesting to note that he has ranked our profile 119 out of 120. We made it in by the skin of our teeth! -

UT Athletes demand removal of racist song

I'm not certain where the author received her information about North Texas' jazz program "being in the closet". The forerunner, The Aces of Collegeland, had a nationally broadcast radio program as early as the 2O's. In the early 60's, the 1 0'Clock jazz band was broadcast over the Voice of America as well as touring. There may be something to her claim that jazz was not considered a proper major in those early days, but almost every music school of any size now offers a degree in jazz, including Juilliard. -
Yes there is, the mighty Firenzi Guelfi, but I think they are all set for QBs. Andrea Ghiachin seems to have gotten the nod for the start. https://www.guelfifirenze.it

People know about the small, exclusive, private schools primarily in the east like Oberlin, Williams, Colby, Amherst, etc. These schools are heavily endowed and in excellent financial shape. But for every Amherst, there are probably twenty other small, private schools that operate, in the best of times, on the brink of financial insolvency. My guess is that he is referring to these schools. I was an adjunct at one of these types of schools for almost twenty years. Full professors were paid about 60K and it went down from there. They were constantly trying to find another institution to take them over.

Where Did The SOW Come From?

Interesting! At any rate, the university should contact the RAAF and see what is going on. -
Where Did The SOW Come From?
letsgiveacheer replied to UNT Alumni Lifer's topic in Mean Green Football
Air Force flying squadrons all over the world have both a formal squadron crest and an informal logo, typically based on the unit's call sign. As an example, my last squadron's call sign was "Alleycat" and its informal logo is below. As you see, virtually no money was spent on the design or manufacture of these! My guess is that somebody in the RAAF 3rd Squadron somehow saw the SOW and said, "hey, that's looks great, let's use it" and so they did. I see other RAAF squadron use different informal logos. Still, they should have asked permission before doing so, -
Yes, SFA should have hired UNC's attorneys.

North Texas Legend Phyllis George has passed

North Texas Legend Phyllis George has passed

Down the corridor of years, we'll forgot our joys and tears... You are absolutely correct, it was Shirley Cothran's dad, not Phyllis George's father.. Thanks for the clarification. -
North Texas Legend Phyllis George has passed
letsgiveacheer replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
I am certainly no expert here but I seem to recall there was some sort of official tie-in between the Miss Texas pageant and TCU. As as aside, almost every student at North Texas knew Phyllis George's father as he was the security guard at the library exit to make sure no one was stealing books! He was a very kind man who was always ready to chat. -

When I retired in 2018, the director of a similar company approached me and suggested that the two of us merge. We had similar budgets, were well-established at 35 and 30 years old respectively, and had similar missions. To me, it was a no-brainer. One big stumbling block was "what to call the new company?". If we used my company's name, it would appear as if we were taking over the other company and vice versa. One clever fellow came up with a suggestion; why don't we ditch both names and come up with a new one? Problem solved. Now, no one wants UNT to return to the Sun Belt but a geographically aligned conference would be in our best interest for many reasons. As for a new name, let me suggest the "We've Finally Come to our Senses" Conference

Really first class. I am so glad I was around to see his first two years here. Given with what he had to work with, he did about the impossible.

Not for football. The concert band, in 1974, was on tour and played in Wichita. In 1975, my flame transferred from TWU to West Texas State and I paid her a visit. I drove a Rambler Ambassador and she rode a unicycle. As all the girls in that era had hair to their ankles, she often looked like Cousin Itt.
