  1. They are playing there while they rebuild their stadium. If I also remember correctly they have nice facilities for other sports
  2. This young man seems to have a really good attitude. Wish him the best of luck.
  3. At this point, let them go. At this point, they are trying to lock in the 8th school, and hopefully, this crap will stop there. The AAC needs to move forward, add a replacement (JMU ?), and develop a plan to move forward.
  4. I find it fairly humorous if they put student in the name when you know good and well that being a student will be the last thing on the mind of 95% of these players
  5. At this point, I would say Mason is the best of all time in the modern era. I will say this much that many may not like: I think a lot of Mason's stats were based on getting yardage in blowout wins and blowout losses where he probably should have been sitting to avoid injuries. I do think Seth took many opportunities to buffer the stats.
  6. It's meant as a joke, I'm sure, since so many times on here when another school does anything, someone will usually post that North Texas has been passed by again.
  7. This also seems to indicate that Texas State said no thank you.
  8. This is a head scratcher over NMSU unless they did let UNM make the call.
  9. I am guessing UNM went with the no way on NMSU if they are bypassing them for Tarleton
  10. UTEP announced to their students at 10:08 this morning EL PASO, Texas (Oct 1, 2024) – The University of Texas at El Paso has accepted a formal invitation to join the Mountain West Conference, the University and Conference announced today. “Joining the Mountain West Conference will bring us back into competition with historic rivals in the west,” said UTEP President Heather Wilson. “There’s no doubt this will be better for our student athletes, our fans, and for El Paso.” UTEP has given notice to Conference USA that it will transition effective July 1, 2026 and will play in Mountain West Conference games starting in the 2026-27 academic year. “We are excited to welcome the University of Texas at El Paso to the Mountain West as the next step in our strategic membership initiatives,” said MW Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. “The addition of UTEP restores historic rivalries with several of our member institutions within the geographic footprint, provides valuable exposure in the great State of Texas, and contributes to our priority of maximizing the student-athlete academic and athletics experience.” “We are honored to be invited to the Mountain West Conference,” said UTEP Vice President and Director of Athletics Jim Senter. “I know the Miners will feel right at home with the other quality athletic programs in this great conference.” “This is great for El Paso,” said Josh Hunt, a longtime supporter of UTEP athletics and executive vice president of Hunt Companies. “Mountain West is a great fit, and it will be fantastic to compete again with UNM, Wyoming, Air Force and UNLV.” UTEP joined Conference USA in 2005 and remained in Conference USA after the most recent conference realignment in 2021. Since that time, most schools that have joined CUSA have been in the eastern United States, far from UTEP and in communities without a large alumni fan base. The only two schools in Texas left in Conference USA are Sam Houston State University and UTEP. “We wish our colleagues in Conference USA well. It’s a great group of schools, it’s just not as good a fit for us at this time,” said Senter. “The decision to join the Mountain West Conference is clearly a great opportunity for UTEP,” said The University of Texas System Chancellor James B. Milliken. “President Wilson and Athletic Director Senter have worked for some time to position UTEP well for when the time came. The time came, and they made it happen.” Wilson and Senter actively engaged in private discussions with the Mountain West and Conference USA to evaluate options and make the best decision for UTEP and El Paso. “We appreciate the professionalism of the leadership in both Conferences,” Wilson said. The 335 UTEP student-athletes compete in 17 sports. In the 23-24 academic year, five Miner teams competed for a championship.
  11. Some whisperings out here in the West Texas town of El Paso that the Mountain West will be announcing some additions today. We shall see but every day becomes more curious for the PAC.
  12. Heard some people out this way saying that they believe that's part of the condition if UTEP is to join that there would be additional investments into the programs
  13. I have been using that for a long time (since what, the Harry's Mean & Green days). Not after the song (It's a good song), and I have been to Rosa's Cantina a few times
  14. One of their problems was the previous president didn't really care about sports. The new president seems to be more receptive to trying to build the program up. I will say this: if UTEP can get to even 7 wins a season, they will probably average 40K.
  15. The hometown team said not this time, Mason
  16. They may be waiting to see if they can get those two schools with a reduced payout
  17. Could be Market, similar to UTSA
  18. I hope our administration will not meet offside behind the other schools' backs and basically give them an FU. I'm all for doing what's best for North Texas, but I also think at some point we're in a conference with people you don't try to screw them over.
