But aren't you noticing the pattern that team after team seems to have all time high performances when they play our defense? I really believe if we could somehow have our offense play against our defense in a true game style situation there is a good chance the offense could put up close to a thousand yards against this defense.

With all due respect I'm not comparing it to hiring power conference coaches. But if you can tell me that we can be the highest paying defensive coordinator position in G5 and not get a proven experience coordinator or even a head coach from FBS I will disagree with you for all times

Things like this and keeping Caponi are starting to shout loud about Morris's hiring decisions. Starting to wonder if he was/is ready to be a FBS head coach

I guess a four-man rush never gave Morris problems in the past. Isn't that how he bases his defensive decisions on what gave him problems in the past

We have the highest paid defensive coordinator in G5. So don't say that budget's an issue we could have hired many many many many many other coordinators for what we paid him. So again in some cases yes but don't use budget when you talk about this hire. This was a stupid hire by Morris.

But Sanders at least seems to be trying to hire coaches that have strengths that he does not. I understand Morris needs to grow as a head coach but he's had head coaching position before and after last year when he refused to make changes to the worst defense in football it raises big concerns that he is ready.

And if we keep playing like we are it'll probably be more people than we have at our stadium after the next three games

This we need to shut the heck up and worry about our team. And we wonder why when there's conference expansion people don't talk about North Texas. It gets frustrating and embarrassing for year after year when we play decent teams and play on national TV that we do this crap

Continuous things like this and our athletic director cannot understand why more people are not tuning into games or coming to games. Maybe it's a case that after years of everything always being the same too many people have no faith that North Texas will make the changes needed to be consistently at the top of their conferences.

It makes it really difficult when we have a fan base that talk so much shit about other schools that every time we get on national TV it seems like we play pathetically.

Not trying to sound like doom and gloom but for the love of all there is if a head coach in FBS football cannot understand how pathetic our defense is then maybe he's not ready to be an FPS head coach. Again not questioning how good of offensive coach he is but to this point Morris has done absolutely nothing to show that he has the ability at the FBS level to put together a complete coaching staff or at least a wellness to make changes when needed. There is no excuse whatsoever that Capone should have been back this year.

FAU HAS OVER 300 YARDS OF OFFENSE IN THE FIRST HALF At what point in the future does our head coach get tired of being embarrassed by the defensive play and make a change. We don't need a holistic approach to anything we need a defensive coordinator who can make adjustments and have teams ready before the game starts

Maybe this is a reflection of his readiness to be a head coach. He should not be so concerned on what causes one offense to have trouble but what defense is can step up against multiple different offenses.

Great point. This is still something I think is a poor reflection on Coach Morris. You have a defense that finished last in all of college football and you did not make changes. The only bigger question than why we are paying him anything is why do some people seem to still think Caponi can turn it around?

With all of the quality defensive coordinators and even head coaches in FCS that would have taken the job for that amount of money you have to wonder Morris's logic when it comes to defense. He got sold a bill of goods and he bought it.

Sadly the lack of discipline on this team reflected by the amount of penalties is very telling of this coaching staff

Am I the only one that worries with our defense if we don't put points up on two consecutive drives we may not have a chance to win?

What continues to amaze me is those that try and justify that Caponi can get it done. My question to you why do you want to stay in a situation where North Texas has to outscore everyone and our goal is to be a top 90 defense?
