When you are in a larger city with no other significant teams, and you have success in football, you will draw. Been a while, but back in Mike Price's 2nd year at UTEP, they went 8-4 and averaged over 47K a home. So give UTSA credit for its success and for making a great hire. Does it last? Does he stay (Look at the change in success since Napier left Lousiania Layfettee)? As far as an off-campus stadium, it doesn't seem to matter to the people in San Antonio. I don't follow them close enough to know, but I would guess their marketing focuses on getting people in and around San Antonio to the games, not zeroed in on students and alums.

The Mountain West has handcuffs on

I keep hearing this but call me skeptical that is that simplistic. Wondering if somewhere in the bylaws them voting out that also negates the TV contract or something else. -

Smart planning by the MWC. Someone had the foresight to plan for getting poached. -
Been listening to way too many podcasts, but one guy referred to us as The U of North Texas several times. At least it wasn't North Texas State.

It seems like he wants one of them to separate so he can name the starter, but they are all playing well enough to keep in the running. It would seem that after tomorrow's scrimmage, at least, he would narrow it down to the top 2.

What time is the scrimmage Saturday?

@TheReal_jayD." Coach mentions something happening in "the young guys scrimmage". Is this something that is ongoing or that occurred in the flow? I ask in reference to something Mike Price did when he was at UTEP. For his young players and squad members, he would have weekly simulated games so they could maintain the "live" contact atmosphere.

UAB coach says AAC is already a power 5

Exactly. Money makes a lot of difference. Take away their money how many of the "Super" coaches could perform well with G5 talent? -

Trent Dilfer earned more than $27 million in salary over his NFL career. Based on today's pay for QBs, that is probably over $40+ m. Guess he was able to convince a few. -

Our QB? Just over 3 weeks left
El Paso Eagle replied to TheColonyEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
With all due respect, your QB evaluation seems very slanted and biased. You must have gone into this video looking to find fault, or you are not too good at understanding football. If you look at the pressure he was under, he played pretty well. -
Is that a peel and stick label?

More and more schools are teaming up with beer and liquor companies to produce beverages. Time will tell if UNT will.

I am starting to think this may really be happening!
El Paso Eagle replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Football
Agree, but they have to have something in place for 2024. How many AAC schools can afford the buyout? I would doubt the AAC would let them leave without making them pay every dollar. -

I think 6 is the number for an FCS conference, if I remember from watching WAC games. -

I thought it was 6. So they would need to pull 4-5 from other conferences for 24? It does not seem like any MWC could afford it. What is the AAC's buyout with a one-year notice? -

I think keeping and growing the PAC 4 is the 2nd option for Stanford and Call if the ACC does not work out. OSU and WSU would probably prefer that also rather than merging with the MWC. I could be 100% wrong, but I don't see Stanford and Cal wanting to join or merge with the full MWC membership. I believe tye would need to be at 6 schools in 2024 to maintain their conference. Are there two AAC schools that might make the move, even without a TV deal? SMU and Rice? Add a few more teams in 2025 and 2026?
