While the other quarterback did not play Bad I believe tonight is an example of how living without Frank as a QB is another reason this will be Jeff T's last year in San Antonio

I don't think I will ever be convinced that the entire thing at UAB was not a calculated reset and allowed them to clean up their house and get a restart. My main clue was when they canceled the program but kept their coach. They took a calculated risk, almost similar to a company going into bankruptcy, and came out much better than when they went in.

Rogers gets the start against LA Tech

I am hoping along with this change, Morris, at least for the short-term, will slow down the pace on Offense and work on ball control to help minimize the amount of time the Defense is on the field. -

Are we still waiting for our White jerseys?

I would like to see Eric walk into Jared's office and say he needs some help on the defensive side and the ball, and the two of them pick up the phone and call Phil or another very experienced coach and bring them in as a consultant. Eric and Caponi need to be willing to accept help.

Phil being nice while saying he's not sure what our Defense is doing and questioning if we are putting them in the right places.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. WSU and OSU can play hardball, and they deserve to, but the schools leaving could make a "group" decision to schedule WSU and OSU in OOC games no longer. This is going to be wild. What is the "drop-dead" date when WSU and OSU must do something? It will still be interesting to see how they put together a schedule if they don't act soon.

When is press conference this week
El Paso Eagle replied to ScreamingEaglesFan's topic in Mean Green Football
I do not believe Morris will be one and gone, but I am not too sure about Caponi. I have a feeling after listening to this that his recruiting priorities will adapt quickly to finding transfers with size on the Defensive side of the ball; I'm just not sure Caponi will be here to coach whoever they add. -
Does a week 3 win take the pressure off of the new staff?
El Paso Eagle replied to TripleGrad's topic in Mean Green Football
I hope Morris quickly realizes he needs an experienced DC and makes a change. He needs to find the best available, experienced DC, or even hire an FCS HC with the experience, and then let him control that side of the ball like Seth was doing with Phil. Morris is a Mike Leach AirRaid coach - He is not a Defensive side of the ball X's and O's guy. (Different sport, but similar message) -
Was Morris the Wrong Hire? (Spoiler.. We Don't Know)

Noted, but several of those wins were against low-level FCS teams -

What an idiotic comment. I know people are in a panic mode, and all of a sudden, all the experts know what is best and what should have been done, but for people to keep talking about firing him after two to three games, it's just plain stupid. We've kept other coaches for years because we don't have money to buy them out, and all of a sudden, everyone's acting like we could buy him out today if needed. What is sad and reflects on our fan base is the number of people almost seeming happy that they were right in predicting there would be problems and know what to act like that are all-knowing. The funny thing is, when fans from other schools make the same type of comments, most people talk about how crappy that school's fanbase is. Am I discouraged, yes? Am I ready to give up, no? -
One comment and one question I agree that as soon as the call was made to go with the 3-3-5, there should have been an all-hands-on-deck push to bring in players who fit the schedule even if you brought in a lot of Grad Transfers with only one year left that would have given you time to develop your younger players. "instead shedding bonafide contributors from last year who still had eligibility." - Are you referencing players who entered the portal? Don't any players were forced out?

6'7" looks like he's around 270. Get him in and in the conditioning program and bulk him up.

We should have hired him when we had the chance…
El Paso Eagle replied to NTSU52's topic in Mean Green Football
I would not be an advocate of ever rehiring Darrell after the stunt he pulled on his way out. That being said, he has done a good job of changing his coaching style to fit the talent he has. In no way are the problems in A&M anything to do with him. If you look back, the more Jimbo got involved and pushed Darrell out, the worse the offense performed. -
One of my primary takeaways is that we have not learned the risk of hiring a purely offensive-minded head coach. Perhaps if Jared had more time on the job or Wren had done his job correctly when Morris presented his plan, they should have stopped it if he did not say he was bringing in an experienced defensive coordinator.
