  1. I hate to rain on the party, but until we realize that the 4 Sun Belt crowns are more than off-set by our OOC performance we are kidding ourselves. Another poster mentioned the crowds at UTEP, and regardless of why the people come to the Miners games, C-USA saw the potential of 40K to 50K there (and having Mike Price did not hurt). UTEP also has a very good average attendance in B-Ball. North Texas needs to find a way to build a following in the Metroplex, and no it won’t happen by saying “real fans should support”. We need to understand the entertainment dollar has a hell of a lot of competition in the D/FW area. I’m not saying to switch to a Texas Tech style program but we need to put a product on the field that will attract fans because our Sun Belt schedule is not going to wow over the causal fan.
  2. I liked the end when he (DD) joked he would see everyone on Monday, he was staying in Denton for the weekend
  3. 61 -The above was your reference to fans not having a clue because they did not play college football. I hate to say it but you have used what has to be the ALL TIME lamest replies. Why is it when someone doesn’t like what others say they inevitably throw out the “well you’ve never been an “X” so you don’t know ……..” Let me ask you some questions – Do you have to be a meteorologist to comment on the weather? Do you have to be a politician to comment on politics? How do unmarried Priest / Reverends / Doctors give marriage counseling? The point is just because you did not participate in an activity does not mean you can not have valid opinions.
  4. Did not recruit or Offer?
  5. First let me say, and I have been after Meager, that it’s probably not the best thing for us to go after individual players. If we are going to make comments maybe its best to say the Offense or the Defense or Special Teams rather than an individual player. For those who blast people on this board for not supporting the team let me ask a question – When DD, or some of yourselves come out with the generalized comments like “our facilities are so bad”, “our fans don’t support us”……so we are getting the best players we can under the circumstances comments – Are you really supporting the players on the team? These players were recruited, for the most part, by other Mid-majors and BCS schools. But to continually harp on how bad things are at NT are you not implying that these aren’t the players we really wanted and that DD is doing the best he can with what he has? So are you really showing respect for the players or are some of the fans who get frustrated and sound off really more supportive because we believe we have the caliber of players who should be winning at our level. Please read the comments from Seth Joyner (from the El Paso Times) "I think, when you look at the caliber of coach you bring in, that has a lot to do with (the success of a program)," said former Miner standout and NFL all-pro linebacker Seth Joyner. "Obviously, you've got to have some good players to turn it around on the field as well. But, a lot of times, some good coaches and some willing players go a long way as well. I can look back at my time here; we always had some good players in my mind. But, not to slight anybody, I just don't think that we had the best of coaching that we could possibly have. Mike Price has brought a lot of credibility to this program… The evidence of both the coaches and players hard work is showing on the field."
  6. Emmitt, Great post! It’s easy to understand the frustration level at the end of the games, but this “us against you” mentality that DD has built is getting old. Ask yourselves a couple of questions – Why is it that other Mid-majors are able to achieve better results in markets no where near as fruitful as the Metroplex? Why is it the 4-time coach of the year in the Sun-Belt never got hired by a larger program (IMO – not that he can’t coach – ATTITUDE)
  7. What if it was offered, but would the rest of our sports teams be welcomed to stay in the Sun Belt?
  8. Well the biggest joke if you read the thread is some buffoon from UTEP making a comment about how current football success should count. For the love of God, at the time UTEP was invited that had what, 3 or 4 wining seasons in the last 40 years? If Tulane is forced to drop Football I think the first thing you might see is a Football only invitation. If that is not the case it would seem that C-USA would look for a school whose overall athletics can support the conferences growth? But, the sad truth is that if, and it’s a really big if, Tulane drops their Football program and they do not replace with a football only school there is likely to be a sentimental push to replace with a school from Louisiana. Wouldn’t it be hilarious, if the decision is based on replacing with a Louisiana school they took ULL? Question – If C-USA took LaTech as a football only member would you support LaTech’s other programs joining the Sun Belt?
  9. 1 Texas 2 Texas Tech (Texas is that good) 3 TCU – UTEP (tie) 5 Texas A&M 6 Baylor 7 Houston 8 SMU 9 North Texas 10 Rice
  10. Shaft; please tell me this comment was made out of frustration. All fans are entitled too? What if these fans stopped buying tickets, merchandise, or making any donations to the athletic programs? If NT ever wants to stopped being considered “small” time then they better start realizing hat the fan/player relationship is a two-way street. As long as the athletic programs give the impression that they deserve support and to be followed, BUT they in turn have no obligation to earn fan support then we will never change.
  11. I don’t think it a case of worshiping the Horns, but rather acknowledging how well they are playing. All the hoping and wishing for the other Texas schools to do bad will not make NT look better. We have to raise our expectations and not hope the other Texas schools lower theirs.
  12. It’s actually a copy of his contract. He keeps it with him so whenever someone tries to hold him accountable he can point out the fact that he does not have to explain anything to anyone except Bobby Ray.
  13. This week’s show will be replaced by a contest to name the holiday to cancel the show for.
  14. How come we can get live reports from Wars, Hurricans, etc. - But not from a coach after a loss. It's funny how the problems do not happen after a win
  15. Can you say Screw the fans
  16. Maybe DD will get a note from Bobby Ray so he can skip it
  17. DD's OOC record. Who will be the first to defend DD today?
  18. If our O was more creative would we have landed the JC QB who ended up at Neb.?
  19. No one could decide which shade of Green
  20. Radio - I have always written of my displeasure with DD's overall performance -sorry winning the Belt does not prove the program is heading in the right direction.
