  1. For those who bitch about fan support. Over 19K for the way the season is going is great. Now it's time for the Coaches/AD to improve the product on the field
  2. They have more to be positive about
  3. Sounds like Eric woud like to be an Asst. Coach for the Mean Green
  4. With your logic - If ULM does not join the Belt would you have gone back to 1-AA? You did not do the Belt a favor, rather the Belt and ULM supported each other in this case.
  5. Not that he would take it, but Eric Price (OC @ UTEP)
  6. If this is true we will find out in the Spring if the solw down has been RF or DD. Good luck to RF, with our luck his team will lead the nation in total "O" next year
  7. Could you be implying? Success = Sun Belt Then No Sun Belt and our coaching staff would be exposed for what they are?
  8. That’s a tough one. I agree for the average student at Tulane yes, but some of the athletes might be thinking differently. Another thing that might come in to play and really favor ULL (as far as potential transfers) how many of these guys have girlfriends at Tulane or one of the other New Orleans schools (sometimes the heart is a powerful thing)?? P.S. – If they did drop football it would provide for some assistant coaches and coordinators (yeah, DD not going anywhere) who would be looking for a job.
  9. If there is a decision to be made `C-USA will not make the decision based on this years football performance (UTEP’s football past should settle this debate). They will look at what overall opportunities the school brings to the conference and where the school is headed. The issue with LaTech that could place them in the drivers’ seat has nothing to do with the school, but the State it is located in. C-USA would most likely give extra consideration to the State of Louisiana (LaTech or ULL) for what they have gone through (and they fact that since there already in Ruston many of the players might try transferring to one of the other Louisiana schools)
  10. Keep in mind scholarships are year-to-year. It seems like every year UTEP signs 1 or 2 more than they have available. Sometimes the coaches know someone will not be back or in one of their cases they moved one of the guys to an academic scholarship.
  11. Price often speaks of how important it is for the team to show their school sprit and respect to the university and fans (what a novel concept).
  12. I was able to listen to both the DD’s coach’s show and Mike Price’s show this past week (and other weeks this year). Let’s just say the difference in attitude and belief in the direction the programs can and should be going is Night and Day. P.S. UTEP had 40 recruits in this past Saturday. I guess it did not hurt to have a sell out(52,500) and a big win.
  13. Whose to say they would have turned into the players they became without Deloach?
  14. Will someone please remind LSU Margin of victory no longer counts in the BCS
  15. I just hope by the time the game is over the people of Southern Louisiana do not feel obligated to start a North Texas Relief Fund
  16. That was funny
  17. This is one of the biggest mistakes NT has made – DD should have incentives based on attendance. Hell go back and add them in today – they only way he gets paid is if attendance goes up and then the extra revenue is what is used to pay him. Even if it’s not in his job description he should make a better effort at growing the fan base. If he (DD) does not want to go out and be “fan-friendly” then he should at the least stop making his verbal jabs at the fans.
  18. Look at a couple of Mid-major programs that are on the fast track for turning things around – UTEP and UCF – Mike Price George O’Leary (sp). The first thought is that they were able to land High-profile coaches that under normal circumstances that would not have been able to hire. But regardless of why they got hired they both insisted on upgrading the assistant coaches before the signed. This is not a bash on NT’s assistant coaches; they might all be great coaches BUT what if we could take our level of assistants up a notch or two? How big of a difference could that make in the success of the program? This past year the Defensive Coordinator at UTEP was (almost) hired away by Michigan State as a position coach (sound familiar?). The reason I say almost was the UTEP was able to counter offer and keep him. Maybe DD could “change his ways” if he had a little more horse power behind him.
  19. I hate to rain on the party, but until we realize that the 4 Sun Belt crowns are more than off-set by our OOC performance we are kidding ourselves. Another poster mentioned the crowds at UTEP, and regardless of why the people come to the Miners games, C-USA saw the potential of 40K to 50K there (and having Mike Price did not hurt). UTEP also has a very good average attendance in B-Ball. North Texas needs to find a way to build a following in the Metroplex, and no it won’t happen by saying “real fans should support”. We need to understand the entertainment dollar has a hell of a lot of competition in the D/FW area. I’m not saying to switch to a Texas Tech style program but we need to put a product on the field that will attract fans because our Sun Belt schedule is not going to wow over the causal fan.
  20. I liked the end when he (DD) joked he would see everyone on Monday, he was staying in Denton for the weekend
