Agreed Chris, while winning the Sun Belt would be great we need to focus on the La Tech game also. Finishing 2-3 in OOC should be the minimum accepted by this staff. A 1-4 OOC and a SBC title will only have more people complaining about the quality of the SBC – Especially if we do not win the Bowl Game.

Not the highest of goals to win a Conference whose teams are currently 7-22.

Another way to ask this question - Would we have won "4 in 5" if we were in the Big West - As much as my heart says maybe, the rest of me says no-way. The Sun Belt did help UNT fill good about ourselves and did offer a spring board to bigger and better things. However our lack of OOC competitiveness and they cold hard fact that for the most part the rest of the Sun Belt teams sucked for the most part did not help us. The “4 in 5” did give us the window to make something happen but my fear is that we let the window close. It looks like the rest of the Belt is catching up to us (or my bigger nightmare – we're dropping down to their levels). Don’t get me wrong, as much as I have bitched about Dickey Ball I would love for him to turn around things and have myself and others say “wow, we almost screwed-up and ran him out”. But I don’t think that will happen.

DD’s followers always pull this out QUESTIONS - When DD was hired did they take him to another campus? Did he not see the condition UNT was in? If things are so bad why did he take the job? Why is he staying if things are so terrible? You want to bet if the job opened up tomorrow there would be no shortage of candidates? Look, I’m not saying UNT does not have a great need for improvements, but this should not and can not be an acceptable reason for the lack of competitiveness DD’s teams have shown on the field. It would be one thing if DD’s teams were running innovative Offensives or out of the box Defenses, but no. We continue to try and run head-to-head smash mouth schemes and then find reasons to complain that we don’t have the same budgets or why higher ranked players don’t come here. By the way, outside UT, Tulsa and Akron were not that much more, if at all, talented then us.

Let's see if the Big East does expand it will probably only take 2 teams from current C-USA and then probably Navy and Army. Even if they take 4 C-USA teams there would be a line of schools ready to say yes to a move to C-USA in a heartbeat (UNT, Troy, L-Tech, the Florida Schools, MAC schools??). What this might cause is a merger between the Belt and the WAC.

With all due respect - TO WHO? North Texas is not respected for their 4 titles in the Sun Belt - Did the Sun Belt performance get us any respect from C-USA when they were expanding? SHaft I know your a die hard fan but we have to stop acting like the past success in the Sun Belt carries ant clout.

The sad thing is all 4 quarters count.

Then you guys will wish them well when Troy moves on, ULL moves on, etc. There always seems to be one glaring oversight by many when they “brag” about DD's Sun Belt conference success. It (Sun Belt) was (is?) the worst 1A conference. Now you have schools like Troy, ULL, Ark State, MT who are committed to improving their programs. I am afraid many peoples “Glory Days” of Sun Belt success are long gone.

Mike Price’s original contract was for a base around $250K. He has incentives based on performance and getting increased season tickets sales and butts in the seat for game days. In other words he gets more pay to be successful and to sell the program to the fan base. He wins and the University wins.

I 100% refuse to believe our players are this overmatched against our Non-BCS OOC opponents. One word – Coaching.

What is really, really sad – I went with a group to pick up a teaser card and took UNT +26. Everyone else in the group laughed at me. They all took Tulsa (somewhere around -19). Everyone follows the results of the green because of me. You want to know the most asked question – Why doesn’t your coach try to compete in OOC games? Can anyone give me a reasonable response?
