  1. Have to agree to disagree with you here, Lurker. It's one thing if he wanted to bring in a proven coach, but a new to FBS coach hiring coordinators without experience is a risk that should have been avoided.
  2. Using his same scenario - If you are a "manager" and don't take a role in the key people your "supervisor" hires, you are probably not much of a "manager".
  3. Agree and disagree; there is no question we don't have the right players, but if you model after Iowa State, they have proven you don't need the highest-rated player but players that fit the system. However, despite the late start, we did a poor job trying to add transfers (remember, we left a few spots open).
  4. Honest question. Should Jared have put his foot down when Morris wanted to hire a DC with no coordinator experience, or do you let the new HC hire who he wants?
  5. As they say about hindsight .... It is clear now that while Morris might have presented a good plan, his estimations for defense were completely missed. The question becomes, can he adjust and admit that his defensive vision was wrong? My concern is that the coaches from the Leach Tree have very little success when it comes to the defensive side of the ball.
  6. Trying to figure out the worst hire - this DC or the Dodge hire. Honestly, it's hard to distinguish. It's PATHETIC that we have the WORST defense in FBS. With what Morris paid, this might be worse.
  7. I would like the board to let us see who gives the different "votes." I don't mind, but I would love to know the dumbass that gives the eye-rolls at post against this defense.
  8. Wrong thread but I will put it here anyway. I truly believe SMU will put 70 plus up on us
  9. I believe the question has been answered if we need a new defensive coordinator next year. My concern will Morris be confident enough to hire a experience defensive coordinator and let him run that side of the ball or will he stick with an air raid defense mentality and not worry so much about it
  10. But remember the players like them and it motivates them. Just think how poorly they might perform if they weren't wearing black
  11. Using alternates once in a while is very different than the uniform-of-the-week club we seem to embrace. I guess I have watched for years as fans complain about so many different colors and combinations used and how we have no identity, yet year after year, we continue to do the same things. I will always wonder why we have done such a piss-poor job marketing the Mean Green, and it seems that green is sometimes the color we emphasize the least. If were not going to focus on the green, then put North Texas on the jerseys.
  12. It seems the last two standing want to make sure everyone leaving is responsible for the debts, but only they have access to the remaining funds. I am also interested in how their "alliance" with the MWC works. Not understanding all the details, it seems the MWC is throwing them a lifeline. Hopefully, the MWC will be benefiting financially also.
  13. I believe they rolled out the Green truck earlier this year. There were pictures with the BB team on it after they won the NIT.
  14. Our athletic department seems to have the tradition of making sure we have no traditions (only partially being sarcastic). My opinion, and I know many might not agree, but we have done a terrible job marketing the "Mean Green" name. And I would comment on how it seems strange that programs like Alabama, Texas, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, etc. don't seem to need gimmick uniforms, but some of those same people would quickly point out how we're not like them.
  15. Agree. If the team wants green to be the least used color, they should just put "NORTH TEXAS" across the front.
  16. So PB is to blame for recruiting players to fit his style and not guessing what type of players the next DC would like? Is it also Phil's fault that Morris did not hire a coach with the experience to be able to adapt his schemes to maximize the talents of the players he has available? Bottom line, hindsight shows that Morris, especially with the salary he is paying his DC, could have hired someone with a lot more experience.
  17. Dear Mods, can you please move this off the UNT Football forum?
  18. Tennessee filed the complaint, saying they want to use the "theme" for their throwbacks. It seems like another case of the Adams family being asses.
  19. I believe this is correct. The Grad transfer rule restarts the clock.
  20. For years they do nothing, now this?
  21. It will be interesting to see what the Mountain West gets out of this. It seems the P2 is still playing to end up with an invite to the Big 12 or maybe ACC. At least from the outside this current deal it looks like the P2 will be keeping a lot of money and getting all the benefits.
  22. Based on the record he has put up. But hopefully Jared will have a short rope
  23. Sadly there will be no wake up call. This coach is most likely considered Untouchable and will stay as long as he wants to.
  24. Why would you choose to come and play for this defensive coordinator in this defense? I know the easy answer is you're probably sure to get playing time but honestly would you want to play for this defensive coordinator?
