North Texas Portal Entry Thread
El Paso Eagle replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
What seems to be getting lost in all these conversations is the value of a college education and not having to pay for it. Combine that with preferential scheduling, tutoring, and all the other services that go along with being a scholarship athlete, and you're talking a lot of money that people seem to act like it's no big deal. And please do not comment about how much money is being made in college football. It's made in some places, but most programs are not making money, especially if you take away student fees. -

Sorry, but it's getting old seeing these kids commit and then decommit. What's almost as bad as those people saying they're young and will change their mind instead of saying, you know what, the kid didn't live up to his word. To me, it's getting harder to be loyal to our players when it now seems that many could not care less about UNT and our fans. P.S. I think it was Lifer who hit the nail on the head - stop coddling our players, changing our uniforms, and having the change-of-the-week plan and stop with the black or gray. I keep hearing how the "players like it"; well, it seems many could care less if they feel someone else can do more for them. I know I am saying this out of frustration, but if they want to come and go as they please, then we as fans should look at them as someone being compensated to represent the Mean Green for a particular time and nothing more or less.- 822 replies

Start out at a four-year School transfer number one to a junior college. Transfer number two back to a four year school. So far none of these transfers counts against your one free transfer. Transfer number three you go to another four year school. This is the first one that counts. Transfer number four you go as a graduate transfer to another school.

If anything, I think this will motivate Morris to produce even better offensive numbers next year to make the point that you will be noticed if you stay in his system. -

You could also add what other job allows you to stay around if you're not performing and continues to pay you? -

Hard to figure out if you really hate North Texas this much or you just hate people this much, but you're one of the most negative people I've ever seen on any board. If you hate North Texas football so much why do you spend so much time on here commenting?- 822 replies

If you could make the call - For the Spring
El Paso Eagle replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
This is what I found. Not sure how accurate Schools are also able to reduce/eliminate your scholarship for the next academic term once you enter the transfer portal. All of this is at the discretion of the coach and athletic program. -
Thinking something and saying something are two different things. It's probably a combination of things; we might never know the whole story. The bottom line is that life in the NIL/Portal period will likely continue to be complicated. If you have a player who stands out or a side of the ball that gets attention, the Power schools will come calling as long as their boosters are shelling out big dollars for backups and squad members.
-
For the players declaring for the Portal, do you keep them on scholarship for the Spring and let them finish the year if they don't find a mid-year transfer option? For me, as long as they're not disrespectful, you let them finish the school year without access to facilities or resources.

If you don't know the "something," why do you need to take a jab at Morris? Pretty crappy to comment like that, not knowing the whole story.

Difficult to tell whether this is a house cleaning or looking for NIL options. Probably a bit of both. -
So when they leave us do we let them come back?

It's getting to the point, or this is all you can do if you want to support the mean green. Be there to support your school regardless of who's on the field, and wish the coaches the best. But at the same time, in this new world, feel free to hold players accountable and let them hear it when they don't perform. -

Is your question based on them entering the Portal or leaving and then entering it again like Shorter? -
That assumes he will not transfer out at the break.

On3 shows him 100% to Cal. I'm sure none of our former coaches contacted him early 💩 -
How are players coming to a school and graduating in one year? I thought there were a minimum number of hours required at a university to graduate from that university?
