  1. I am sure there will be plenty of seats available
  2. So 17/18-year-olds can make NIL decisions and commit and decomit, but in your opinion, they should be able to do that since their only 17/18? These same 17/18-year-olds are talking about making "business" decisions. If they want to be a part of the "business" world then they should be just as accountable.
  3. Just wondering how long it will take some of you to move on from CR? Will we have to see every online story reposted? He, by his choice, is no longer here. The occasional update is ok, but please we do not need to follow his day-to-day life on the Mean Green Football forum.
  4. So a player can decommit and move on and everyone's supposed to be okay but the school makes a decision not to continue with their offer and something's wrong with them? How do we know the young man didn't do or say something?
  5. Leaving as a grad transfer is one thing. But if you have eligibility left and you transfer out as an undergraduate you should absolutely never be considered for the Hall of Fame
  6. I don't dispute the fact he was a very good quarterback for us. But it seems nowadays the word great gets thrown around quite often.
  7. He is very good and put up great stats. Great players win games.
  8. There is already a divide, even though everyone is in FBS. Perhaps an official split will help to bring some sanity back to college athletics. There will still be available TV deals for those not part of the Pay-for-play conference or whatever you want to call it. It will be interesting to see how they set up the crossover games between the pay-for-play conference and whatever the rest of us are called. I hope once it splits, if teams at our level play one of the paper place schools, they're getting at least 2 million plus per game.
  9. Some players will take a pay cut to enter the NFL at the rate it's going.
  10. They would play in it and then play the "Army-Navy" game after. If they were the top two teams in the American, they would end up playing back-to-back games. Part of the agreement in getting Army to join was that this game would stay as is and would not be counted as a conference game.

  13. Great point. Just like the young man we lost at the end last year to Florida State a lot of high three stars will go to some of the top programs but will find themselves too far down the depth chart as these schools like Florida State or Texas are constantly adding four star and five star players. Hopefully this young man works out and has a great career at North Texas
  14. Not trying to take away from these young man's announcement but with this many players in the portal can you imagine how crazy the spring portal will be also. A lot of these transfers will be taking over positions at other schools and then more players will be transferring out in the spring.
  15. So you're OK when a player commits to us to automatically start talking crap. That in itself tells you a lot about our fan base.
  16. It will be interesting, and sad, to see how long it takes some here to start talking crap about players who transfer in.
  17. I'm not sure how this ends up in a way that is "fair" to everybody. Unless a system is put in place with revenue sharing that requires minimum investments and maximum budgets by division, I'm not sure what can be done. I do not doubt that with the government being involved, they will look at some form of compensation provided to these schools. The problem is who will subsidize them; most likely, whoever it is will have no say.
  18. For those who want to see athletes paid, would you be open to saying that if this is done, students should not have to pay athletic fees? Also, where will the money come from for all the schools that lose money? Should all the sports that lose money yearly be compensated, or should they be cut? One of the things people keep saying is that it is a big business, and I agree. But most companies do not keep around divisions that lose money every year.
  19. Are you sure Evans transferred? I think is was Jacklin.
  20. Jeff's #1 wish ....... BREAKING NEWS UTSA requests and is given a lifetime eligibility waiver for Frank Harris
  21. What seems to be getting lost in all these conversations is the value of a college education and not having to pay for it. Combine that with preferential scheduling, tutoring, and all the other services that go along with being a scholarship athlete, and you're talking a lot of money that people seem to act like it's no big deal. And please do not comment about how much money is being made in college football. It's made in some places, but most programs are not making money, especially if you take away student fees.
  22. I foresee a strongly worded letter being sent shortly
  23. Sorry, but it's getting old seeing these kids commit and then decommit. What's almost as bad as those people saying they're young and will change their mind instead of saying, you know what, the kid didn't live up to his word. To me, it's getting harder to be loyal to our players when it now seems that many could not care less about UNT and our fans. P.S. I think it was Lifer who hit the nail on the head - stop coddling our players, changing our uniforms, and having the change-of-the-week plan and stop with the black or gray. I keep hearing how the "players like it"; well, it seems many could care less if they feel someone else can do more for them. I know I am saying this out of frustration, but if they want to come and go as they please, then we as fans should look at them as someone being compensated to represent the Mean Green for a particular time and nothing more or less.
