Nick Saban retiring

I would be very surprised if they did not name a new coach by the weekend. Also, keep in mind the portal is now open for 30 days for all Alabama players also. -

Nick Saban retiring

Should players who sign with a school whose coach leaves right after the signing be allowed out of their NLI? -
I agree that this is very concerning. Even after being the worst defense in FBS, it seems Morris is still clinging to his Leach Air-Raid defense philosophy, where he believes his offense will score enough and he can deal with whatever he has on defense. We should have seen a much harder push for DLs and LBs. It will not matter how good of an offensive geru Morris is if we do not improve significantly on defense. I do not believe he will finish out his first contract here.

This should have led to the entire leadership of the NCAA being replaced. Many people predicted what would happen and that it would be a pay-for-play system. I don't think many thought there would be so much money thrown at players (even backups who rarely play). I would also guess they did not think they would create a system where star players at Blueblood programs would leave their teams. Combine this with the ease of transferring (players transferring multiple times) and the fact that the spineless NCAA would not attempt to stop tampering; you have the perfect storm in place. -
What is Mean Green Nation’s opinion on Coach O?

I think he's been tremendous at getting attention for the program and helping us reach areas we might not otherwise have. -

Voting Emojis for GMG
El Paso Eagle replied to Venson's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
The only part of this I'm afraid I have to disagree with is that this board does not show which poster is making the emoji vote. Don't run across this on many sites. -
By any chance, does he also do kickoffs? I hope we can replace our ability to put almost every kickoff in the back of the end zone and avoid returns.

Are we not signing a transfer QB?
El Paso Eagle replied to meangreenfaninno's topic in Mean Green Football
100 % true. Players are given access to "easier" classes; if they are full, exceptions are made to get them in. I spoke to a counselor once regarding a note on one of the classes my son was trying to take, and she said that they had to hold spots for the athletic department for a certain amount of time as they were "projected" to be needed by players. Again, as you said, it's how it works. -
The end of college football as we know it

I would say there is enough greed to blame both sides. The schools and the players care about what they feel is best for them, and if you think either side gives a damn about fans (other than wanting them to spend their money), you are mistaken. For these university presidents to even say "student-athletes" is a joke. Also, many of these players are willing to hop from school to school, so I find it hard to think getting an education is a high priority for many. -
With our current depth at QB, he might need to help with throwing practice routes in practice for the Spring. 😱

I'm not sure how much difference it makes with academic eligibility, but I wonder what percentage of online classes the players are taking. Also, golf and softball/baseball teams have traveled all over the place for years, especially early in the year; I am guessing they have a reference point to plan. -
Both sides now view this as a strict business decision. Players will come and go as they please and teams will no longer keep around players that they do not believe will contribute. I have a feeling at some point in the future we will look back and find out that just as many players were hurt by this process as benefited by the process.
