Another of many indications that NIL is broken
El Paso Eagle replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
The problem is other schools will think oh we're the exception he'll play well for us. I don't wish him any ill will physically but I hope this decision follows him and he has zero success in anything he does from this point forward. -
One concern about adding Air Force
El Paso Eagle replied to JT Hammons's topic in Mean Green Football
If they both had the best conference record, they could play each other in the Championship Game and then turn around and play again. -
Agree it's going to be wild. Part of me wishes the MW would lock in their 6 or 7 team and then lock in UTEP and NMSU. Once they have 8 locked in, tell the PAC you know we're good at delaying this, and by the way, we counter-using you to keep you from forming until you pay. Know it won't happen, but it would be fun.

No, I do not believe it is. That was one of the agreements when Army joined. It will still be played after the conference championship game. https://www.si.com/college/group-five/aac/why-army-navy-will-be-a-non-conference-game-in-2024-and-beyond-service-academy-football-tv -
It seems he is working on revenue plans that can make it possible for teams that perform well to be compensated. This could have also been a factor in their decisions. As I mentioned, there is still a long way to go, but he does not seem to be sitting back and waiting to see what happens before he reacts.

Memphis, Tulane, USF Turn Down 2PAC....Staying in AAC
El Paso Eagle replied to SUMG's topic in Conference ReAlignment
Agree. But remember, many of these same teams did the same thing when they were in the WAC. -

This story references the section. It seems to have done it they would have needed to do the back door way they got out of the WAC by getting together in agreeing to dissolve it before they announced they were leaving. https://nevadasportsnet.com/features/murrays-mailbag/murrays-mailbag-where-does-the-pac-12-turn-after-getting-rebuffed-by-aac-schools -
Memphis, Tulane, USF Turn Down 2PAC....Staying in AAC

There seems to be some debate on this. There are reports saying that based on their bylaws, once you announce you are leaving, you no longer have a vote. -

Great question. I would like to see the conference have a minimum that goes up yearly.

I don't see Texas State making the move but you never know. Depending on the next few days you might see a MWC and CUSA merger
-
The MWC is about to get a VERY big check (OK, wire transfer) from the pacX

The MWC would be crazy not to go after UTEP and NMSU. The crazy would be if the gave UNM any leverage in trying to stop it.

This. We have to stop aiming to be "good" and set our sights on being the best in the conference. -

So, is there a chance the PAC pays a lot of money to the MWC for pulling all of their teams from the MWC? The handful that is left in the MWC will have a large war chest and then quite possibly merge with or consume CUSA. -
Should the American go after Air Force and UNLV, pushing how they were not "wanted" by the Pac?
