  1. All through high school, I'd basically prepped myself for a military academy or institute. So, right around the latter half of my senior year of high school, I was being looked at and talking to folks at Virginia M.I., Marion M.I., and even USAFA. I also did well enough that other Texas schools wanted me to go to them. Then I decided I wanted to go to a school with a great art program. Now I'm here and 3 hours from graduation.
  2. No, no, let's keep the song. I don't think it's a big enough issue right now.
  3. As far as college...anything is concerned, if it isn't BCS related, Galloway just kind of brushes it aside. But, that's probably why he gets so many listeners.
  4. *shrug* Didn't care when they got together, don't care now. It's not like it really contributed much...not even as far as pop music is concerned.
  5. Doesn't matter who we recruit if the coaches can't make the use of the talent at hand. We saw proof of that last night.
  6. You know...all that ruckus was: 1.) Totally uncalled for. There's only two of us on this board, and like I told marcmoffit in the PM, most of us aren't really the messageboard types/computer geeks. I sent marcmoffit a PM about this not too long after he posted, and before some of you decided to take it upon yourselves to open your mouths...before asking to see if he'd received any responses. In that PM was a statement about how only two actives are on this board, a link to the website, and the email of our current president. Besides, it's another sign that those of you getting all riled up seem to be doing it just for the sake of getting riled up. And all this before even asking if he'd gotten a PM about it. It sounds alot like when someone asked about the T-shirt exchange table (known as Greenout right now), and then everyone assumed this was no longer being run when in fact, it'd been going since I joined in early 2003. 2.) A pretty big waste of time. There's really no point to picking fights like this. For marcmoffit: As for the Wings- they're the white dress-shirt guys. It couldn't hurt to get them involved in your big plan. Someone here already knows some of them, so there's your way in. Shoot Tanya an email, give her your plan and she'll let you know who to get with for it. And sorry for getting you in the middle of this.
  7. I second that one. Smith is still a good coach, but to be honest, not every team will mesh with every coach. He didn't manage well as Mich State, but he might be exactly what our team needs.
  8. Fluke, fluke, fluke. Just like the 52-14 Baylor game, this will be looked at as a fluke, except that this year, there's no NO Bowl appearance, no SBC title to hang a hat on. The rest of the world thinks it's a fluke, and after the season is over, the records of both teams will say, "a fluke UNT win over SMU". And why? I think it's because the coaching staff is having serious issues on and off the field. I know the players have the talent, even if it's just enough to win by 3 points every game, but I know the team can play better than it has.
  9. I never thought the SMU win meant anything to anyone else but us anyhow. Besides, the SMU win shouldn't be worth anything considering that the rest of the season has been a disaster. I mean, it's like the saying goes- "you're only as good as your last win" and our team has lost the last few games. I know I liked the SMU win, but that doesn't mean squat now. Frankly, after the season is over, SMU would be justified in saying they're still the better team. Why? Because their record will reflect that. The coaching staff has to change. About the only people I can see keeping are the DB/LB/TE coaches and the graduate staff.
  10. I noticed that too- not too far back, Rutgers was a big fat joke in college football. This was when we were cleaning up the Belt and going to the NOBowl... And now? Our team is riding the bottom 25, and only moved down from where it was before. And Rutgers is hanging out in the top 25 after quickly climbing up the ladder. I know part of this has to do with Rutgers already being in a better conference, but still.
  11. With 13 left in the 1st half, UT down by 21. And USC drops to Oreg. State by 2 points. Didn't expect this at all from either team.
  12. There was a point in time that I saw this team becoming one of those schools that didn't have the biggest budget, or was in the biggest conference, but would be able to line up with the Boise, Louisville-type schools and scare everyone it stepped on the field with. I still see this, but it's a lot farther away now than it was a few years back.
  13. No, the secondary is that good. Just like how we have good skill players on offense. But for both to really make a difference, everyone else has to do their part.
  14. How would this mean AA's gonna be playing if he's not at the same position? Are the Giants really that shallow at LB?
  15. He was the reason our defense was so feared in his time here. It seemed like he had the kind of fire, bile, and leadership that the defense looked to have fed on. I'm betting he would bring the same thing to the entire team, and have extra recruiting pull after his current coaching job.
  16. That record doesn't look pretty at all. It's almost 2 losses for every win...what the crap?
  17. I like that our conference is showing some control by yanking 18 players in total for ONE incident. And for the ACC? I don't know why they're not doing anything about the Miami track record but I got this feeling that they won't do much since judging from history, they never have.
  18. Funny...not more than about 4 or 5 years back, Rutgers paid occasional visits to the ESPN bottom 10. Now they're sitting pretty in the Top25. Why can't we do that?!
  19. I don't call those 4 years domination. Many of those games came down to a single-score difference. Furthermore, those 4 years didn't yield much success in OOC games, many that should've been wins, or at least slightly respectable losses. Years later, we're seeing: 1.)Idaho (which was the joke of the SBC) becoming 3-0, and beating a LaTech team that last year, our team didn't come close to beating. 2.)We're seeing other SBC schools putting up really good fights against non-conference teams: -FIU v Miami: Up until the brawl, FIU fought Miami to just 14 points for 3 quarters. -ULL v Houston: It was a 3-point win for Houston, and I don't know if our coaches can build a scheme to beat even Houston. -FIU v Maryland: 14-10...I know the Terps are having an off year, but it lets you know their coaches are always thinking and are able to make up for talent disparity. -GT v Troy: 35-20. It's a loss, but it's at least halfway respectable. -Kansas v ULM: 21-19. Loss, but it looks better than the OOC losses we've had. There were also a lot of games where SBC teams got blown out by a million miles, but it looks like some of those teams are able to at least look nice in other OOC games. And finally... ASU (As in Arkansas State) beat FIU 31-6, in FIU's house. I can bet you that ASU wants another W against us considering the smashings we've handed them in the years before. I want that win against ASU badly...
  20. -Edit- FIU was dropped by 35 against Miami at the end of the game. Looks like that brawl got the Canes fired up. Meanwhile, our old SBC rival, Idaho beats Tulsa. What's going on here?!
  21. It's official- our team is falling behind. Before, it was how the other schools are catching up, but now it's our team that has to catch up. I longer care how Dickey completes this season, I want another coach. I don't think Dickey, even if he wins out, has what it takes to keep leading the team.
  22. But I have yet to see an SBC team win enougn OOC games against opponents that would balance out losing SBC games. Don't see your logic with that statement.
  23. You know what gets me? Rutgers was a big fat joke in football about 4 or 5 years back. Now they're in top 25. I want to know why (besides money) our team can't do that.
  24. You do it, Prez. Not "President Bataille", but "Prez".
  25. I'll quote a high school buddy currently in Iraq, "We don't need a draft. We need to be smarter about how and when we deploy what we do have. It's hard enough to get good soldiers on the ground as it is, much less have good soldiers mixed in with more bad ones."
