  1. Realistically- Ohio State. Kool-aid Vision- Florida.
  2. He readily admits a playoff could be good for Division I-A football at large, but quickly adds, "I don't work for college football at large." Just riled me to read that. Seems like he's in it more for his own major conference and not for the whole division. Sounds like a guy that wants to keep the money in the big conferences regardless of what their coaches say, what the public says, and what's probably the right thing. I'd hate to see how he treats his neighbors and I'd hate to see this guy go into state/national politics. Jerk.
  3. Playcalling or not, this one is on the players. Coach Parcells wasn't there holding the ball when Gramatica tried to kick it. And btw- I'm SO glad Gramatica replaced Vander-SHANK as kicker.
  4. Is it really worth all the trouble to do the currency exchange? I don't often have problems with America making things easier for foreign nationals or people with ties to other countries, but this isn't Europe (where they use the Euro nowadays anyhow), and there's no reason to do this.
  5. We have a source we think is really reliable and very, very close to the players. There's some talk that the players coming here are trying to bring others along as well. No guarantees though as it's just talk.
  6. I kept thinking about this today since I just had lunch at the Tomato this week...I know not everyone loves all of the businesses there, but there are other places for big business to go- like University Dr, Loop 288, Carriage Square (where the Hooyah is)...not someplace known for local biz. Even if the old buildings get taken down, I'd really like for the local places to be offered somewhere to set up.
  7. Took three soundtracks from my girlfriend's favorite movie director, compiled them and then designed and built a custom 3-disc CD set complete with custom labels, flap envelope, and cards. Didn't cost me anything, but it took more than its fair share of hours to complete.
  8. New rear sight? Flip-up BUI? I also know two guys that are specialists with Kalashnikov variants and they also spend some time tinkering with the SKS series as well. They might also know of someone that either has or can fabricate polymer furniture for that carbine if you're not into wood or if the wood starts to cause problems.
  9. That's rough to hear they all were let go. I had a soft spot for some of them because they managed to do alright despite DD's foul-ups.
  10. Poor Sooner fans...I'd never think they'd be the kind to be emo about a football loss. But that's okay, they can just write songs about the loss, the heartbreak they feel, how no one understands them, and how mommy and daddy pay for everything they have. Wait, that last part was aimed at SMU. Hahaha.
  11. And what about the assistant coaches we DO like and have actually done their jobs?
  12. "This plan woul lead to VERY stable, compact, regional conferences that made sense. This playoff would generate money that would put the basketball tourney to shame. Finally, it would crown a National Champion that was decided by the players and coaches on the field." As it should be and should have always been. There's no reason an objective sport like football should have its champion decided by computers and subjective, human (and therefore flawed) opinion.
  13. RCDog whatever his name is has resorted to personal attacks...now emmitt and overcusser are related to Todd Dodge (as if that's a bad thing) and are therefore, talking on his behalf. Mind you, most of what dear emmitt and overcusser have said are pretty factual statements. Sounds like the UNT "Alum" is backed into a corner in this debate. Come to think he's probably one of SMU's debate coaches. I don't even wanna talk about the academic issue. Not only is our music program FAR better, but their "advertising school" loses hands down to both our advertising and comm design programs. Prestige doesn't mean squat when the program itself doesn't teach you anything.
  14. More signs that the big BCS really isn't about what schools are better or what teams are better...it's who is expected to be better. And that expectation only comes from idiots in the media world such as our dear [fat] ball of hate here in our own DFW area.
  15. Wednesday, 9:40am... Their board is STILL non-member blocked with registration blocked of also! Hahahahahaha! That's hilarious! "We're Soonerfans, and since we lost and talked way, way too much trash, we're gonna cry about it behind closed doors!"
  16. I'm in the transition spot between "comm design student" and working in either the advertising or design world. *looks at smitty and cowtown*
  17. We had this debate already--- interlocked NT: 1. Looks like the logos of SO many different schools. Yes, they're being used because they're classic, but that doesn't mean they're worth copying. Just because a "big" school locks their letters doesn't mean we need to and it definitely doesn't mean we'll be a big school or be identified as one just by using that style mark. I remember designing a helmet with Virgina Tech-style letters. Yeah, it looked really cool, but I wasn't ever 100% behind them because they are based on what Virginia Tech has. 2. Thankfully, this version doesn't read "TN". It does, however, look terribly old fashioned. Those school's block letters are being used because they've been used for decades. We've just gotten new logos, I'd rather just stick with them now. Use the North Texas + Eagle mark for a few years so the public recognizes that eagle as the North Texas eagle...then after that, switch to just the eagle. I don't like the font for the school now, but I do like the eagle marks. I'd rather make the best of them.
  18. Okay, really... The diving eagle was the ONE good thing to come from all of this logo crap. There's no need to alter it, make it needlessly large, or rip-off the Philly Eagles or the Seahawks. Besides, the Michigan helmet was a take-off from the yellow stripes painted on the old leather helmets so the QB could spot his guys downfield. Leave the eagle as is, find a good spot on the helmet so you can see the whole thing at a good distance. Doesn't matter which outline version makes it onto whatever color helmet, but don't mess with the eagle. It's good as is. Wanna know how to judge how well a helmet design works? Show it to a non-UNT fan. Ask them what school it's for and ask them if they like it. Don't tell them who you are or what school you like, just let them look at the helmet and figure it out on their own.
  19. FYI: The school's branding policy probably cuts out the design where it's nothing but the wings of the eagle being shown, and odds are, that 1-pt black outline breaks the rules too. Besides, that single black line won't be visible from more than about 10ft away.
  20. Want proof? There are several Fundamental Baptist churches all over the US that push the idea that women shouldn't work outside of the home if at all possible, should never anything a man wears, shouldn't cut their hair short, shouldn't ever wear anything revealing, and should be entirely under the rule of the husband. Thankfully, there have been some modernizations to the Christian faith that UNTGirl04 is talking about, like some of the Muslim groups in the western world are implementing. The Muslim religion needs an overhaul.
  21. Hmm...there was a recent story in the BBC News that muslim women in...Iran are starting to dominate university campuses and are becoming more powerful in the workplace. I'd say that even as slow as the Muslim countries are, this is a start. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5359672.stm Christians want to dominate the world, too. Before, they used guns, propaganda, swords and disease. Now the methods may be more peaceful, but the objective is still the same as it pertains to missionary work. Simply said, no matter who would win, someone's gonna give up their religion in the process. And yes, much of the Muslim world hasn't modernized. But there are those in modern countries that have adjusted well to life in those countries while still staying true to their beliefs. The rest of the world has a lot of catching up to do as it pertains to modernization. The Muslim countries seem to have a habit of ruining their own progress, and that's something they have to fix, no matter how much the western world intervenes. However, there are good and bad apples in every religion. The Islamic faith among them- there are good people who mean well, who know that what their brethren are doing is wrong, and who have a dear attachment to the countries they live in. How do I know about these people? I grew up with them in school- these were the kids of American soldiers, and American soldiers who were Muslim. That should be reason enough to not lump people together according to religion.
  22. There's stuff I'd like to see done...but I'd also like consistency. So either switch to the new colors and switch to the eagle helmet logo and stick to that forever. -OR- Leave as they are until about 2009 or something.
  23. I'd rather that we not slam all Muslims into one single, violent category. Because, God forbid that we all be lumped in with those responsible for Inquisition, right? Not every Muslim wants a collapse of the Western world, but like Christianity, the Muslim faith does hope to see it spread over the world, so before we start fisticuffs about Muslims having their faith over the world, I'd suggest stop and looking at the Christian faith, too. I don't like being preached on and having any particular faith crammed down my throat, regardless of what holy book someone carries. I don't like the Muslim radicals- they're committing violent acts in the name of their faith while their brethren preach against them. I don't like Christian extremists that tell everyone they're going to hell as you walk past them on campus. I'd rather not have friends and family fighting overseas against people who would rather blow themselves up than make better use of their lives. I wish that the radicals would stop, but they won't. There's generations of conditioning and brainwashing in place that won't be broken. It's a grave situation, and in situations like that, there's only so far talking will go, and that's when violent measures are taken. But those violent measures are exactly that- Measures, and should be made with thought. Don't go shooting someone I know simply because they have a Quran sitting in their bedroom. Unfortunately, that's the world we live in. Don't lump the Muslims in as one group. Don't lump the Christians together. Don't lump the atheists, Wiccans, Jewish, Buddists, and any other group into one generalized category. We saw what happens when that kind mindset takes hold in Germany and in our own internment camps in World War 2.
  24. "A friend in Southlake said Dodge has no interest in the interview. Thats why I put him as passing on it." Hahaha. Sucker. 5th choice candidate? It seems like TD was #1 or #1B all along.
  25. Yeah, they're spooked. They got quite literally smashed by one of the worst-coached Mean Green teams in years, after lots and lots of trash talk. Now I'm wondering what TD will do to them.
