This may be the first year I miss the GMG bowl because of the date, but no matter what, count on a donation and any time asked of me to help out.

Basic requirements for UNT football uniforms should be: 1. Kelly green, white, and maybe black somewhere on it. 2. Should include a jersey, pants and helmet. 3. Includes some sort of UNT logo or wordmark. All this other crap doesn't matter since it's not what wins the games. The talk about playcalling, rosters, recruitment and whatnot actually matters. If it's got green and something UNT-related on the uniform, that's all I need.

That was a really, really awesome game to watch. The Dragons were just plain dominated, the Desperados played a complete game of football. I don't think they could've played a more perfect game.

if you guys liked last year's logo, I can cook up another one for this year's game.

Had to watch from the couch this time, but I have to admit I was worried when the scores were close in the last few minutes. I was beginning to worry UALR would come back at the last minute to win like what's happened in a few games this season.

I'd take Riley Dodge. Don't care if he kicks or just holds the ball during a kick, that's added talent for the team. I also don't care who QBs for the team because all of our current QBs shows potential. I just want them to win, really.

Heck, if I were WW or any other QB, I'd throw Dickey's plays to the wall, too. Especially if it's some draw play against a 9-man front.

You know, I don't think uniform color has squat to do with winning or losing a game. Hey, the black unis look sharp, and I know black isn't one of the three colors, but really...when it all comes down to players on the court and the coaches' playcalling... WHO REALLY CARES ABOUT WHAT COLOR THEY'RE WEARING AS LONG AS GREEN IS ON IT AND IT'S NOT SOME HALF-ASKED JERSEY MADE THE WEEK BEFORE?

If it's a font, I don't know about it as I'm still setting it by hand at work.

Yeah, it's not a fontset at all and it's custom-made by the people who did the new logo sets. The different university logos were all assembled by the designers and anytime that letter style is used as something than the logos, it's the letter set being put together in Adobe Illustrator.

Coaching? As good as he is, you just hand him the ball and let him do his thing.

You can do that in a car with a low center of gravity, but not in an SUV. The Ft Worth Dr ramp makes you turn left to get onto it at an odd angle, so that you can't accelerate beyond 35 as you get near it, and then it cuts onto the freeway so you have to slow down again, then hammer the pedal to get up to speed. It's to the point where I just find a straight line onto the ramp (rubbing the small curb a bit) and just gun it the whole way, hoping I don't get clipped by some 18-wheeler going at 70mph or slam into the back of grandma, going at 35mph. I won't even get started on the CONTINUING mess that is Loop288. I've seen entire overpass junctions (such as the 635/75 central meetup) built in less time than 288 has taken to switch from a 2-lane bridge, to a 2-lane surface, then to another 2-lane surface on the other half and...blast it.

While they fix I35E, they should go ahead and rework the on and off ramps. Those things are deathtraps! Have you guys seen the southbound on-ramp at Ft Worth Dr? It's not a ramp, it's a house driveway!

That's a man on fire right there. That's hard work and spirit we all want and are more than happy to see from our new coach!

Cardwell had some good games at the AAC last Arena season. He's a defensive beast, easily.

They're still bitter about: How LSU beat them BADLY 3 years back in the BCS championship game they had no business playing in.

It doesnt matter if you like new designs or traditional ones...by any measure, this one is still ugly.

vs. MTSU in 2001. I didn't think it would turn the way it did, and I didn't think it would be a step to getting the program where it is now.

Here's to us getting a really awesome DE coach. I bet TD's already receiving phone calls and emails from HS and college coaches.

The logo thing ended up fine, and it seems we're all either happy with it or at least happy with certain parts. This'll probably be the same way, with hope the uprooted places find somewhere to go (ie: Chopstix, but hopefully in a nicer storefront). About the big biz thing- yeah, independent businesses are having a hard time establishing themselves these days, much less running afterwards.

In short terms: yay to the UNT-Dallas concept and best of luck to it. Any opportunity to spread education is worthwhile. I wish they chose something more original for mascot and colors.

See, I'm against the building, (not that it matters now)...but I don't think a boycott would actually do anything at this point. It'll cause a stir, but I don't know what real good that would do. I'll go back to what I said to my g/f about this a few weeks back, "here's hoping the local places can get the money to open up there soon." This'll probably end up the same way the logo fiasco did, with alot of people just shrugging and moving on after a few months.

But without the antique shops. I'm also pretty much OK with a drug store on Fry. I'm worried that there won't be space for small businesses when this happens, and if there is, then I'll live with big biz being there too.

It seems like there's a fundamental misunderstanding here. A lot of us that are against the building on Fry Street aren't necessarily against the new construction on Fry Street. I'm sure we all agree it needed a facelift (either through revamping the old buildings or building new ones with old-style facades) and a clean-up. What it sounds like is that those of us against the new construction are against it because it really takes a slashing to the local businesses there. When I originally heard about this, I thought it was a good idea since the old businesses there would get a shot at moving into a new building, attracting more business. Then, that useless former gas-station would go, that empty building in front of the church would go, and the area would keep the unique places but remove alot of excess, unused construction. That meant a cleaner, safer block to hang out and eat at but without losing some really unique places. The ugly exteriors are gone, the streets cleaned up, the trash removed, unsafe buildings taken out and all those other eyesores removed. But when I found out it was going to be a replacement of not just the buildings but also the businesses there, then I changed my tune. This means losing some unique restaurants, bars and shops with what's reportedly little chance of them being able to come back to that same area. If they were allowed to come back into the new buildings, then I'd live with the Starbucks and CVS being there also. I think alot of us "anti-construction" folks aren't against improving the appearance of Fry Street. What we are against is the undercutting of independent and unique hangouts. I can't see a reason why we can't keep the good local places and build new business space on Fry.
