  1. Here's your list: http://www.aclu.org/religion/govtfunding/2...es20060824.html There you go. Looks like it's a long list of ACLU cases protecting rights of Christians, so I'd say they've done a job of standing for "God". Really, slow down on this ACLU business. It really doesn't have anything to do with the particular case that's originally the topic of discussion.
  2. You can relate this to racing cars: if you can hit a lap, or section of a track in a certain amount of time, then your odds of winning that race go higher when you fix the smaller details like approach angles and speeds into turns, brake pressure and all that. In other words, if I'm racing and if I can set a goal to come out of turns 1-4 at an extra 4mph than I was before, then I'll get that much more time. And if I can finish laps an extra .25sec faster, that's all the better. If my pit guys can shave a second or two off their time, then great. You add all that together, and that can mean the difference between 1st and 5th place finishes. This definitely fits into coaching goals for a football team. Or you know, as was said in Any Given Sunday- you fight for every inch and that can make up the difference between winning and losing.
  3. I live down the road from campus. I'm gonna be there, and I'm gonna build today. Man, my boots are gonna be wet as hell.
  4. Is it bad that I'm not bothered by Engel moving on?
  5. Both sides? Guess I'm sorry for having enough of people calling for coaches' heads, throwing insults at the team, and laying an "F" on the program when it's obviously doing better than that and deserves some praise.
  6. THANK YOU. I'm also starting to think we need a "if you have nothing productive to say, then don't say it" rule on this board. Criticism is fine, that's productive, but the opening of this thread and a good number of "sky is falling" or "this team sucks" posts need to GTFO. This is a fan board. If you want to rip the program apart and not offer something good, productive, or somehow constructive to say, say it somewhere else.
  7. I think our guys are capable of a great deal, so the coaches that are in charge of bringing up their physical abilities can step it up. I know as far as speed goes, we saw the results of JQ being with the track team. Come to think, don't most high school BB and FB programs recommend, if not mandate being in track?
  8. Misworded- blocking of passes. We barely saw any of that last season, but we saw some hands going into the air to deflect/knock down passes in the last game. Also, AlamoCityUNTFan- how would you know about lack of fans at an AWAY game?
  9. More than a few games were won at the foot of Nick "The Kick" Bazaldua. There's never a reason to not improve the kicking game.
  10. 1: Turnover margin. 2: Sacks. 3: QB Pressure. 4: Run Stops. 5: Pass INTs 6: Pass Blocks. 7: QB Improved Play. 8: Improved Running Game. However, the OL needs work so those turnovers can get used. Had those 7 TOs been capitalized on, we'd be celebrating a win. Defense needs work too, but right now the whole team needs improvement. But it's the kind of improvement where you say, "yeah, they're getting there and we'll see something great when they do" not, "man...these guys have a loooong way to go, if they get there at all."
  11. The Albino Squirrel thing is part of some Preservation Society...which has chapters in other schools, one at UT. I think they tried the same stupidity there.
  12. At the crest of the hill, under the sign. It's a killer location.
  13. Um...no. I don't want some whacko in a cheap squirrel suit running around at my football and basketball games. It doesn't work that way and it really won't when the secondary mascot has brothers and sisters at other schools. I'm Kit Young and I disapprove of the Albino Squirrel mascot now, just like I did the first time it was voted on.
  14. I didn't like that call, either. However, the rest of the game was pretty special.
  15. I think I had a Booger flashback with that Stevenson INT and TD.
  16. That was partially responsible for a lot of the bad passing last year. You can be the most accurate passing QB in the world, but if all you do is dodge defenders, you'll never get consistent passing.
  17. I wouldn't do it either. Unless the program has some sort of real academic problem or has been pulling much needed funds away for stupid things, then I'd stay out of it. I'd be at all the games, but that's as far as it'd go with me.
  18. I'm sure a few of us get a kick out of fighter jets. Check this out: http://www.totallycrap.com/videos/indexbig...tes_vapor_cone/ I've been told the pilot has to keep a ton pressure on the stick to keep the plane level at that low altitude.
  19. Mike Singletary? THE Mike Singletary? That's awesome. That's really, really awesome. I remember watching him when I was a kid...I thought he was so bad-@ss, even when I'd see him out of uniform with his Coke-bottle glasses on. This could work out for Baylor.
  20. I'll compete for torchbearer. And win. Seriously, you'll see me there next week, most definitely most of the day Monday.
  21. Sounds about right. I think the turnover margin will be smaller with less passing, and the passing that is done will be more successful because Troy is playing run-heavy defense. I'd also think about throwing a few QB runs, options, etc to keep them on their playcalling toes. Honestly, I'd find Troy footage to see what specific plays/formations they're weak against and try to find something there.
  22. Part of my heart warmed to see "Drew" and "12" on Stevenson's eye strips.
  23. Balanced offense. I was told by my g/f (who graduated from Keller HS, so she saw lots of TD's SLC coaching) that he tries to balance the offense, but if the other team is open on running, he'll eat that up and the same for passing...though he tries passing first.
  24. Next question: what bars/restaurants are showing the game?
