  1. I'd hate to find that this is the truth, but considering the sledgehammer incident, I won't be shocked. I would be proud that our coaching staff didn't smash this guy's head in. You don't do that to someone on their field, and you don't do it after you just lost. Sounds like the Cincinatti Bearcats hopping around on the Louisville midfield logo incident from a few years back.
  2. Too true.
  3. I'm with you here. Even as a recent alumni, I remember the 2005 game and it was bleak. You wanna blame someone? Blame the people who schedule a game during one of the highest traveled weekends of the year for Americans AS A WHOLE, not just college kids. It sure is easy to get to the game when your whole family lives in DFW or you're planning to stay close to campus that weekend, but really, seriously... ...if you value a football team more than your own family, then you should probably re-evaluate your priorities.
  4. A sledgehammer? That kid is lucky he didn't actually hit anyone with it because that basically guarantees jail time. As for the team as a whole, I dunno if I want a team with discipline problems like this in college sports, much less DI play. Matter of fact, the kind of person that tries to bring a sledgehammer into a scuffle needs to get his head checked.
  5. For every team that does this sort of thing on someone else's field and starts it pre-game and continues it even when they haven't sealed a blow-out... ...I dare them to do it every single game.
  6. I only wish to match the verbal greatness of Nick Saban. On the real.
  7. Okay, Rudy Giuliani. Whatever.
  8. Seriously. Unless money were super-super tight, that'd never happen in Texas.
  9. Can't believe I'm gonna be in BFE parts of Oklahoma instead of at Fouts this Saturday. I probably can't get radio that far north.
  10. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...;type=printable As someone that came out of a JROTC program, I gotta say that keeping them around and stopping an iffy precedent are important. But this article really shows politics reaching its nose into places it doesn't belong and fiddling with things it doesn't need.
  11. Playing time. He can sell them on playing time. A lot of guys wanna start or have a good shot at starting at whatever school they go to. I'm sure the other posters here can throw out a list of guys that came from smaller profile schools that could've gone to the big-name programs but chose other schools because they figured they'd be on the bench all 4 years of their scholarships. Hey, if UNT had the classes and degree I wanted AND I had a good chance of being on the field, I'd give UNT a good look. I'd hate to spend hours in practice and whatnot to sit on the bench and be one of those guys with the scratch-free helmet. And no one wants to be THAT guy. As for the offense, I can't wait to see how that turns out. If they can improve the running game, then we'll be looking at a very balanced offense.
  12. I caught the radio cast and up until that last minute, I swore we had the win. It's one of those games that came down to a toss up due to any number of things happening. But, as to Dodge being conservative? No, because he took what the defense gave, and since that became just the running game, he went with it. With that many guys in the secondary and as good as they are as a whole, it would've been a big risk to throw deep in the closing minutes of the game. What was a last-minute, bare win could've been ASU+14 or 21 had INTs been the result of throwing deep. I know this season's record is ugly, but aside from the money games and Troy, there's always been an upside to the losses. And it's not just any, it's the kind of upside that says great things will happen with Dodge at the helm and his coaches and players with him.
  13. WFAA has the story on this:http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dws/wfaa/latestnews/stories/wfaa071115_ljwz_truckexplosion.7438988.html From the looks of of it, I35E is a trap right now once you get past the lake bridge. All I'm hearing and reading is telling everyone to find an alternate route going north and south to go around the accident scene. Going northbound, I'm planning to detour at 1171 in Lewisville or at 407, then make my way to 2181 and ride that north into Teasley and Denton. The cause is a gas truck fire...but you can get the details on the website. (Sidenote: the UNT PD had an automated call come to my phone to give me another notice on this. Very cool, very smart system. Thanks, UNTPD.)
  14. I'd really like an opportunity to watch this game also...
  15. There's not much of an excuse to losing a game when you score 62 points. Even with a loss, it should've been something like 62-63 or something, not by the score that came up. Our D should be physically capable of keeping up with their offense, I think the planning simply wasn't there this time, and that's the coach at fault.
  16. More than likely, no. That isn't to say that NT doesn't easily have far more than it's share of calendar-worthy women.
  17. What an odd [POLITICAL LANDMINE] to a seemingly straightforward question. Anyways, if this's a discipline thing, then I would say that Green should be cut. Even if the episode at the game and at the practice were all that happened before the accusations, I'd consider the accusations to be a serious misstep in behavior and send him away.
  18. My mom teaches kindergarten...she can already tell what kids are gonna be problems (so she does her best to nip it in the bud then) and what kids won't be problems in the future.
  19. Not shocked, but still relieved. I hope the NAACP if/when they do their own probe finds the same results so we can all move along.
  20. GONRTTX NTGREEN NRTTX1 GOMNGRN Just a few ideas.
  21. It was a good show from the team to defend their coach, and I'm glad that more and more it sounds like a disciplinary issue. The guys in the show made TD look really good and that's good for the program for any number of reasons.
  22. http://cbs11tv.com/video/?id=22538@ktvt.da...t.com&cid=7 In short, a 5 year old has a spiral carved into his really short hair. It's pretty cool looking, and there isn't anything offensive on it, but the school principal wants him to change his hair since it's somehow distracting.
  23. Hence "defense needs come in with a head full of steam and a belly full of fire". Navy is dangerous, very dangerous.
  24. The war in Iraq, whether someone supports it or not, should have no impact on the appreciation of the US military as a whole. So yeah, I hope the band does something special for the USMC.
