You may not need to add another women's team in another sport. I know Texas has a few schools (at least) that have a women's wrestling team.

Would Coach Gennero Fire Coach Riggendorf?
meangreendork replied to Bryan316's topic in Mean Green Football
If we're still looking for a kicker, Kathy Ireland may still have time. I know she's in her 40's...but still... -
Don't Mess With Texas
meangreendork replied to KingDL1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Plain and simple, had these guys not been engaging in criminal activity, they would more than likely still be breathing. Did they deserve to be shot and killed? No, but that's the risk that they take when crossing into private property and like it or not, they kind of forfeit the "don't shoot me I'm harmless" card because the victims of a forced entry don't know if it's an intent to just steal a DVD player or kill the entire family. Oftentimes, the intents of an entry aren't known until the police and the coroner arrive. It's really their own ill-judgment that caused this. For Horn, what he did wasn't really the best decision. Mind you, he sounded a little eager to "get some", but not everyone handles situations like this the same way. That kind of response to a situation like this, for Horn, thankfully, came out in his favor. The burglars weren't armed and I'll go with the law of numbers here, that they would've had him outgunned and no one was on their way to help them out. Luckily for him, he's gonna go without a scratch on this. Should he have waited for the authorities? The answer is "yes" if the police response time was going to be instant and that his home wasn't next. The answer is also, "no" because they were on his property and he doesn't know their intentions. Unfortunately, the way laws are set up for the average citizen responding to something like this almost force the citizen to kill the perpetrator to protect him/her from a lawsuit by the perpetrator. You either let the perpetrator walk all over you or you kill the guy because if you don't, then it's going to be your tail for something like the citizen's arrest version of police brutality. Grey area all the way as to what to do with Horn and how to handle this in the Legislative branch. -
Man, since he hates UNT so much, I bet he'd like it if all of the students and their (and their mom and dad's) disposable income left town, too. See you later, Super Target. Bye bye, Best Buy. Adios to all the big consumer stores. Just close all the restaurants and bars that the students visit. Shut down all the bus lines since students get a lot of use out of that, too. And yeah, Dodge doesn't have the best situation, but Horrell is just spouting words out of the same place he spouts excrement, so we all know how much real thinking went into this. Or maybe he just hates anyone younger and anyone smarter than he is.

Football: Firms Sought For Unt Stadium Design
meangreendork replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
If that was the selected external appearance, there's still a million and a half other things that need to be designed, both in terms of how the new stadium will look AND the engineering to make it safe and long-lasting. -
Sounded harsh, but tongue-in-cheek to me. I dunno. Either way, <3 George Dunham.

Fouts Field Remodeled Into A Two-tier In Ground Stadium
meangreendork replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
QFT. Even if the water table weren't a problem, then TxDOT would have a b****fit about the field still being in the way of the highway expansion, no matter when they get around to it. -
BS. Like that Patriots pre-season game in PC's first year...he did so much better than everybody but one RB and they let him go. Dangit.

This would be cool, if not for the water table problem. -
What's The Point In Disputing The Coaching Decisions?
meangreendork replied to meangreendork's topic in Mean Green Football
I hope we have a "let's extend his contract because he's gotten an incredible, SBC-topping defensive unit" talk next year. -
What's The Point In Disputing The Coaching Decisions?

I might be able to convince people that the whole keep/fire Mendoza after this season is more or less moot. It all gives me tired head. -
What's The Point In Disputing The Coaching Decisions?

So I assume you can have Dodge let Mendoza go and find another coach? -
What's The Point In Disputing The Coaching Decisions?
meangreendork replied to meangreendork's topic in Mean Green Football
That's what I'm worried about as well. Sadly all I can do is worry about it until we see the next rendition of the Mean Green. -
Normally, I'd have no problems with coaching talk, especially after we saw what happened with Dickey and we all knew that he'd be gone and we knew that there was also a series of candidates for the HC position. But right now, we have a pretty good lock that Mendoza isn't going anywhere. Despite how unhappy I am with his team's performance, he's not going anywhere. And for the HC committee thread that came up recently, we also know that Dodge isn't going anywhere, simply because it'd result in a lot of red tape and more talks that I'm pretty sure RV and Dr. B. don't want to get into right now. Furthermore, Dodge's hiring has already brought on extra donors, media attention, and recruits we didn't have when we had Dickey. So, skip the coaching talk. We know Mendoza will be here, so let's try to get behind him and hope it all works out and our hopes aren't wasted. Unless you somehow have an ear at HC or AD offices.

Thoughts On Nt And Board Posters And Members
meangreendork replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
So? I don't see how that would invalidate the argument. I hope that Mendoza has learned from this season and will show us something good next fall and that the current players come together with the new recruits and give us all something incredible to cheer for. -
Vizza starts. Simply said, he is the real deal. Navy had fits trying to stop him and the offense. His backup is Meager, then Tune and maybe a JUCO recruit. Dodge redshirts and gets up to size for his second year and comes in as another dual threat QB and occasionally lines up at WR. He starts in his junior year, but plays like he's been the starter for a year prior.

UNT 45 FIU 21 The offense comes out with a combination of ground and air attacks that FIU is unable to stop. UNT starts to score early and scores often while the defense only allows 3 scores, with one being the result of a turnover. Defense hangs in and bares teeth all game long, giving the FIU offense fits, but occasionally allowing the long gain and 3 scores. Ultimately, UNT wins this game big and takes this fury into spring ball.

Score early and often and start breaking FIU's willpower. You know, the Todd Dodge style of warfare. I mean, football.

I was in Oklahoma. Sadly, all I could catch up there was the Tulsa game...so I didn't bother watching football that day. I also think it's time to close this thread on this statement: Wins will bring more fans, TV time and money and that'll bring more fans, the new stadium, more TV time and more fans. Until the wins start to pour in, we wait it out and hope that no more Saturday games are scheduled.

Nt Lands Committment # 13 Jeremy Phillips From Waller
meangreendork replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
ALL OF YOU... Stop and think about this: If TD can wrangle guys like the current 2008 commitments list with an at-best 3-9 season...what's he gonna get with a 9-3 season?! -
I'd look at their board but their server is moving so slowly. Guess they haven't gotten that hi-tech in their part of Kentucky.
