WARNING: AVOID I-35W IN FORT WORTH
meangreendork replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Sounds like 35E going into and through Denton. It's sort of a mess from Corinth north. No shoulders, uneven pavement, and turns that can be iffy if you (or the car ahead of you) isn't paying attention. There have been more than a fair share of accidents lately. -
Ranking the Top 20 Fullbacks from 2015
meangreendork replied to Greenrex's topic in Mean Green Football
You'd think that for all the run-only mess Mac ran, Olawale could've gotten in there somewhere. -
That's a strong argument. I'd wager that arguing the players deserve something for their part in addition to their scholarships. They're not practicing, going to tape views, meetings, sustaining injury and everything else just to be coached to lose. They deserve a coach that'll match their efforts and Benford isn't that coach. Maybe somewhere else, but not here, not with this group of players.

Considering that he couldn't get effective blocks when at UNT, that didn't make it any better on him either.
-
I always thought that. After seeing Smith have accuracy problems last season and knowing the remaining roster is unproven...yeah, I hope Morris is the real deal.
-
After trashing a program so badly that the players refuse to play, I don't know if I'd trust Mac to say anything on any campus regarding football.
-
Wait, he bailed here, bailed Tech and then didn't last the Miss. State job?
-
Oh, I certainly don't think I can do the job of AD better. But I know for damn sure RV can do better. But since he refuses to do so, I know UNT can do better than RV.

Crime is still isolated. It's about even for the last few years overall. As for traffic - the worst part really IS I35E. That's the worst, worst, worst part. I like the mixed age, almost fam-friendly vibe of the square. It's pretty good for all ages during the day, and it's definitely a good night spot for grown-ups and college-age folks after 10pm.

Our bread isn't as great as it once used to be. It's great that our student diversity stats are better, though. It at least provides evidence of better A/A representation on campus.

Except that it did, courtesy of the mooks of the old KA chapter. Which to the point, this kind of thing is entirely unacceptable. It's like, "kick these guys in the neck" levels of unacceptable.

Position Group Rankings Part 2 - Wide Receivers
meangreendork replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
I'd like the new staff to give him at shot at QB. Might be nice to see if he could step in as a solid #2 this year and maybe #1 next year. Fine might take time to be ready and unless Smith is greatly improved in judgment and touch, he might be out of the running this year. Mind you, all this assumes Morris is as good as we hope he is. -
MGB video: Morris talks about landing at UNT
meangreendork replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
DT wasn't super talented. His numbers weren't fantastic and his TD/INT ratio was close for awhile and he took almost his whole career to find his stride. But hey, he had enough talent when it counted and he had one hell of tough streak. I don't get this "you'll miss DT" jive, though. It's not as if the fans or coaches drove him away. This fool is over talking about "how right he was" as if it would've changed DT's graduation date or would've brought in better quarterbacks. -
Yeah, that was a nice touch. I wish we had archive footage of Joe Greene's days here, that'd just top it off perfectly.

MGB: Augie DeBiase talks about his plans
meangreendork replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
He likes to flip-flop and based on that info and from what I've read about his dad liking to influence his son's decisions and even coaches, it might be for the best that this kid goes to that school. -
MGB: UNT to host top QB prospect
meangreendork replied to Brett Vito's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
I'd like to land DeBiase and Fine. Never hurts to have two potentially skilled freshmen QBs come in, especially given our history. -
Cowherd: "Screw Middle Tennessee State."

I don't like MTSU (as a sports rival, so it's friendly), but good lord, that's really messed up to say.- 63 replies

Interesting New Helmet Design from Vicis
meangreendork replied to Christopher Walker's topic in Mean Green Football
In soccer, I didn't know that headers were so likely to cause injuries. Something new everyday, right? In football, I get the idea of making head impacts safer since that happens at least once on every play. And since a head injury is the sort of thing that will impact long-term quality of life, that's worth the effort, especially for younger players.- 32 replies

Wow, the account owner is a real douchebag. "INVOLVES DEATH." Except that it doesn't really, and this guy is full of crap.

The W/L record might not be all that important but the performance stats for his position should be.

Interesting New Helmet Design from Vicis
meangreendork replied to Christopher Walker's topic in Mean Green Football
It's cool that this is compared against the Speedflex helmet, which seems to be the best one on the market these days. It's the same general concept of the Speedflex, but they went all out on making the whole of the shell flex. I also like that they made a pretty OK looking helmet since some of the more conceptual designs tend to look weird or end up looking like the helmet cap things.- 32 replies

MGB: Could David Bailiff be a candidate at UTSA?
meangreendork replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Rice or UTSA? I'd stay at Rice.
