USM was favored, at least by ESPN's % rating. That said, play both. Let the senior leave it all on the field, let the freshman be the sudden shock if the other team gets a rhythm. It'd be a good idea to make the QBs work with different looks so the defense can't get a bead on 'em.

I hope this suspect is the guy they want *and* that he sees the full extent of justice for the ambush.

It's not, but it's almost to be expected considering the depth and experience of the team as well as how late into the season it is. I have faith we'll have a different, better season next year. Considering that the new staff put 4 wins on the board with the remains of a team that struggled to get 1, I think it'll shape up in Littrell year 2 and 3.

It's a nice hope but there's still the rest of the season to play. On bowls, I'll prefer the HOD any day of the week, especially since odds of a win are a little better. Going against an SEC team, even a middling one, seems tough right now.

Whether we make it to a bowl game or not

4 wins this season would be acceptable but a little disappointing. 4 wins next season in total, or even this point in the season, would totally unacceptable. Period. -
Official LATech game score prediction thread
meangreendork replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Football
LaTech has a team that's got more history behind them and as such, is easier to predict. I know our team might pull off a win, but it'll be close if so. if UNT wins, it's by 3-10. if LaTech wins, it's by 14-21. -
Exactly. Fine's got the arm, the speed, and the willpower. He's just gotta develop to play consistently at the college level. There's a reason why most programs never play a freshman QB and that's because even the best of them aren't ready. Fine is ready, but he's also still a freshman. And so we all know - he's worlds better than what we had in Mac's last two years. Some better containment would've been a good call. I get the idea of blitzing to hit or rattle a QB, but against a speedy QB who can pass and run the ball, sometimes the best decision is to contain and put more players into coverage/spy routes.

Marshall is imploding - they're showing the other edge of being a team that consistently wins. When they win so often and don't have the discipline to handle losses and come back from them, one loss becomes a string of losses. The physical talent is there but the mindset isn't.

There's some Art of War genius in that defensive gameplan when you think on it. Army has 3 solid rushers, plus the QB. They'll get the yards almost at will, so the only thing to do is to slow them down and more importantly, make Army waste its time and energy by taking the ball away. It's genius, really. Army really beat itself as they fell into a trap the coaches set up for them. And another thing - you would think the Army defense would be fresh since they didn't get a lot of play time. But in that cold and without a lot of time to stay warm, the longer they stayed off the field, the slower they played.

The retro Flying Worm from the 100th game (Worm on white) and the HoD helmet (metallic satin green SoW on carbon fiber). One is classic, vintage, and, fun. The other is complex, aggressive, and also has carbon fiber :p.

Our bodies are basically a bunch of micro-organisms that work together, or get benefits from interaction with outside micro-organisms. This could damage that. And, much like the increasing trend in bacterial resistance to anti-biotics, does this result in stronger viruses and humans with weakened immune systems?

Grade the Coaching/Performance
meangreendork replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
We'll how long it takes to come out of that. Right now, I think Dickey's last season was our nadir...or maybe one of Dodge's seasons, I don't know. Funny thoughts - Dodge could recruit but couldn't coach for the speed of college ball. McCarney could coach in his system (which wasn't a fit for Texas football anyway), but he couldn't recruit. I have a feeling Littrell and his staff will be able to draw in the right players through their coaching philosophies and their track records, and then coach them in systems that'll be very effective. I'm more optimistic about this staff now than I was about McCarney and Dodge combined. -
Grade the Coaching/Performance

More like, the sequence of events that led to Portland State will take years to rebuild from. Our new staff is trying to run a spread, mobile offense and a pressure defense with players picked for a power running game and a containment defense. Even then, this is a better team than last year. Part of that is the early season morale, and I hope the coaches can maintain that as 2016 is probably going to be a rough season. -
MWC has the clout that CUSA doesn't have - the smart move is to go to the MWC if the AAC won't take us, if at all possible.

2-10 isn't a far-off prediction for Littrell, year one. I hope to see more than that this year. I expect to see much more in 2017 and 2018.

Coach Littrell said really what every good coach should in this situation. He joked a bit, then locked in on what he was doing, wanted to do, and planned to do. I like that he's aware that defense isn't his strong suit. I like that he said plainly, "I'm getting the guys I hate seeing on the other side of the field" because those can often be the ones you want on your side of the field. More importantly he was up front about rebuilding. That's solid.

I'd forgotten about that episode and that was only 13 years ago. Well, some folks never learn.

I'm hearing a lot of talk about detailed stuff from Ek. Telling the guys to do it with technique, not to arm tackle, that sorta thing.

DRC: Bringing pressure on defense a focus for UNT
meangreendork replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I felt like Mac and Dickey had a "let's not really try until we're behind by 14" offensive philosophy. It's as if the team didn't really wake up until then. -
