Has anyone ever seen Coach McCarney's eyes?
meangreendork replied to golfingomez's topic in Mean Green Football
Little do we know that Coach Mac's sunglasses are actually made of vibranium. They help seal off the massive supernovas that are located in his eye sockets. Without those glasses, we risk being destroyed in one single, glorious, flash of light, heat and energy. -

Probably helps your case if you can apply some grammar so that it doesn't take more than a quick glance to understand what you're trying to say. -
Beat WKU & MTSU then upset AK St or Troy then we are Bowl Bound
meangreendork replied to Tree's topic in Mean Green Football
The safest bet is to sweep all 4 remaining games. I think our guys can win vs Troy and MTSU. WKY should be a good win, if close. ArkState has me concerned. Either way, where our team is now is already a big jump from the last few years of Dodge and Dickey. But if our guys can go win the last 4, I'll take it, and I think they can. -
They have different admission requirements. UTA Top 25% Class Rank: no minimum SAT/ACT. 2nd 25%: 1050/22 minimum. 3rd 25%: Individual review. 4th 25%: Individual review. UNT Top 10% Class Rank: no minimum SAT/ACT. Next 15%: 950/20. 2nd 25%: 1050/23. 3rd 25%: 1180/26 4th 25%: Individual review. From the looks of it, it's easier to get into UTA by a shred, more so if you're a student is in the last 50% of class rankings. I'll also mention that they've got those gas wells and are tossing scholarship and grant money at kids, too. Tuition is roughly the same.

First Year Head Coach Wins Again At Ark St
meangreendork replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Coach Dodge was a longshot hire. It was a nice idea, but this wasn't the program to risk his hire with. FIU and ArkSt are returning with some of the best in the conference. Freeze is taking over with a good crop of players left over from last the coaching staff. He's coming into the game with a pretty good stable of horses. It would be a failure on his part, to lose a great deal of games. Our previous coaching staff brought in guys that were probably not D-1 caliber. Our current coach has made that clear, and has been responsible enough to let us know that there won't be a sudden, drastic improvement. Funny thing is, he's already made some drastic improvements. I doubt Coach Dodge would've had the same performance this season. -
What Has Happened to Chico's Offense
meangreendork replied to UNTLifer's topic in Mean Green Football
This. Our O-line is really young. Right now, they're still learning how to work with each other and put together a natural rhythm. This means they'll make mistakes and have a harder time succeeding. Honestly, I think our QB is fine, as is our RB stable. But honestly, the success of the TEs, WRs, QB and RBs is all based on what happens up front. When the front breaks, running plays get jumped like they did today and the QB never really gets time to make a good pass or see that he needs to make a run for it. We're getting there. But like all of you I wish it was going faster. Now it's a race to land the 2nd place spot in the SBC and finish with a string of wins against teams that are beatable. FIU and ULL are the big targets in the SBC. I think our guys can tackle the others. -
NT Daily - Apogee Needs Bigger Crowds
meangreendork replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
They're right, Apogee needs bigger crowds. However, the crowds (which will be fairweather fans in large part) will only show for a winning team and to see them beat a big opponent. We saw that for IU and Houston. We had a chance at going 2-0 with these teams as well, and we will. -
Villarreal on potential scheduling conflict

Never been a pro-sports fan short of arena football, never been a baseball fan. I'll see you good folks @ Apogee. -
Best troll move ever.

I think ULL beating FIU is a big reason there's a 9 point spread in their favor. I still think our guys can win. The team that played FAU last night would have beaten the same team that lost to FIU by a horde of points.
-
ULL's previous win opponents may not be impressive, but they have momentum from that record. Our guys can win this just like they did against FAU. As always, if they really want to lock the victory in, they'll have to produce on both sides of the ball and play all 4 quarters. Anything else risks victory.

1. Improve the distance passing game. Medium to long passes help keep the D honest and spreads them over the field for both the benefit of the running game and short passing game. 2. Change up the running scheme. Going off-tackle and up the middle doesn't always work. Try options and triple options, toss a few delay runs in, keep the wildcat and make use of that every so often for both passing and running. Toss in a few reverse plays, too. 3. Improve the O-line. Even if the passing game never really improves, an improved rush-oriented O-line will help make up the difference. It'll do that by letting the run game get better, and it'll also be useful for play-action calls.

Should've been 45-17 last night. 2-3 scores left on the field last night. Now, let me say I'm glad we won. In fact, I'm ecstatic, but the team has to play all 4 quarters to make sure they win every game possible. The guys have made huge strides since Mac came on board. They've gone from hopeless to a team that we should expect victory from, but it's victories that are too close, or losses that shouldn't have been.

From what I heard, transport to the stadium wouldn't be bad, but it would take longer to use the shuttles than walking. At the end of the game, it would take much longer than that because of all of the cars leaving. You'd be waiting a long time for a shuttle to get you, and then longer again to just get to the main campus due to traffic.
-
Not even remotely close to Apogee. The one plus they have is seatbacks. Also, we have awesome theme music to go with our stadium. Just sayin'.

I'd hate to be your kid. "Hey Dad, I'm now captain of my little league team!" "Are you winning yet?" "No? I just got the job." "Then you're useless. Quit and let someone else do it."

UNT wins. Range is between a 14 to 21 point gap. FAU isn't ready, our guys are ready to make up for the lost potential at Tulsa. D shows up like they did at Indiana and keeps the intensity up all game and maintains a score gap. Offense shows up like they really can and hammers FAU on the ground and in the air. Game will be a high scoring affair with FAU getting between 14 to 21 points, but never being able to close the gap either because they can't score when it counts or because our O keeps pouring on the scores.

Denton wants to be OU Central Next weekend
meangreendork replied to Green Nightmare's topic in Mean Green Football
Oklahoma has an established following. It's got a bunch more football fans than we do, and it also has the money to go with those fans. It's also in the Top 5. As much as we are Denton's home college team, we may not have enough to really be a draw for tourism $$. Oklahoma is. Get over it, hope for wins, support the team. -
Tulsa Score Prediction Thread
meangreendork replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Football
That part of the US had a bad habit of generating dust storms. My prediction is close to the one for the IU game: If UNT wins, it's by 3-10 points. If it's Tulsa, it's by 14-28. Tulsa could be dangerous. -
North Texas Projected for BBVA Compass Bowl
meangreendork replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
I love our team, but that's really premature. About the only time I'd make a prediction like this is in the world of Playstation football, and even that is at least at game 6 of my season. Would I like to have our guys go bowling? Oh hell yes! Just not against Louisville. Not based on what I've seen. Talk to me about if our guys beat up Tulsa and sweep the belt. -
I think our guys will need it. I want UNT to win, of course, but even with key players out for injuries, I think the favor still rests in Tulsa's hands. But like any game, all it takes are a few minor mistakes that turn into points and momentum. UNT will have to play at 100% to beat your Tulsa guys, and they'll have to do it for all 4 quarters, which I haven't seen our UNT guys do yet. Tulsa will win if they play to their caliber. The team should be better conditioned, the altitude should play in Tulsa's favor, and they may play on the current weakness at the secondary and by running a fast-paced game. If Tulsa loses, it'll be on turnovers if they give enough of them away at the worst times and it'll be because Dunbar is given too much attention and the passing game opens up. UNT will win if they can play 100% for 100% of the game. So far, they seem to sputter in the second half, so if they don't last all the way through, a large enough scoring gap has to be created in the first half. The defense will need to create turnovers and establish dominance while the offense keeps Tulsa's offense off the field.

Tulsa Seems Down (Thread from CUSA board)
meangreendork replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
They've had a really, really tough schedule. It's hard to go 4-0 when 3 of the teams on the schedule are all top 15 teams. Tulsa is also having to deal without some players at key positions but I don't think they'll be as easy to topple as IU was. IU's problems all seem to have long term causes. The Tulsa issues all seem short-term and having seen what they did last season, I'm worried about our guys being cut up in the secondary.
