This is absolutely hilarious. In the process of not paying someone, and then leaving them in the home unattended, people are surprised when stuff goes missing.

This is a matter of debate. Had the story come out when it should have, it may have affected alumni donations, sponsorships and recruiting. Some of the key coaches or players may not have been at those games to win.

Here's the verdict. Penn State won't appeal, either. http://deadspin.com/5928203/penn-state-ncaa-sanctions-four+year-bowl-ban-vacated-wins-60-million-fine-scholarship-reductions This may hurt more than the death penalty. All of these hits last for 4 or more years, not including the damage already done by the story alone.

It's better. MSNBC had someone going about a "Dark, Trekkie type" having done this. Because that's relevant information, right? So with all the news about the movie one could say, Bane was written in as a bad-guy in a shot at the GOP, 20 years ago because something something Bain Capital, and the shooter is a Tea Party guy who loves Star Trek too much. Love that fast-cycle news industry.

Limbaugh lost credibility a long, long time ago. This is just another shovel full of dirt that makes a deeper hole for a coffin with a new nail in it, with that guy's credibility stuffed inside. -
That's awkward, bro.

That's not a bad point, either. Look, I love the hell out football at this university. But at the end of the day, athletics should always be a secondary priority at an educational institution. Athletics should be a means by which people see the university, it should never be the means, and it should never be the end goal of a university. Penn State forgot that, and now the victim list includes both Sandusky's direct victims, but the average fan, student, alumni, professors, and staff of Penn State, to include those who knew nothing about any of this. You can run a fine balance between the two and many universities do. Penn State is not one of them, and it also serves true the idea that the people who speak most about being clean are more than likely the dirtiest ones of all.

I'm interested to see what this does to their casual and die-hard fanbase, and I'm really interested to see what happens with donor funding and any 3rd-party sponsorships. And I'm even more interested to see what happens if this is proven to be university-wide and not just limited to the football program (as it's already at this point now.)
-
It was all to protect the football program. Every little bit of it was aimed at protecting the football program. When you talk about protecting the program, you really talk about protecting donor relations (money), sponsor relations (money), and protecting the image of the university for prospective players, the average fan (and again, money). When the image of any entity is tarnished enough, it affects the bottom line and no one wants that. Give PennSt the death penalty and make the SMU death penalty look like detention hall by comparison. The corruption was systemic and it was used to manipulate a situation to the benefit of PennSt. Take the SMU death penalty and double it.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Best post on politics on this board since it all mysteriously started around the 2008 election. Also, Nugent is an idiot and at best, a troll. Once a great musician, now just a sad joke of a man who should give as much thought to what he says as what he's shooting at on his property at home.

All stalking can be forgiven when accompanied by a scouting report. Just sayin'. -

That's not creepy at all. -
Zac Orr & The Redskins Helmet-Really?

Dude, that's his dad's Redskins helmet. It's a shoutout to his family. Did you even read the ad? -
In short, "our earlier predictions are wrong, and some of the green energy tech isn't ready to go full scale, but we should still be taking care of our planet." All this aside, it's still not an excuse to take a giant dump on the planet. It's like getting a car from your parents - if you take care of it, it'll take care of you. Also, I'm all about switching to Thorium as a basis for electric power.

How Vegas Sees 2012 Unfolding For Houston
meangreendork replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
It really depends on how well the reload goes on our end. I don't expect UH to be as good as last year, but I don't know how well our team will be figured out by the time of the UH game. I think it'll be a closer game, but I don't know by how much. And should the ball roll our way in the right way and at the right times, our guys might win it. -
Because the people on this board have room to talk about nerding out on things, right?

That I do agree with. He's good at what he does, but he's just one person.

RV has enough to contend with as it is. The handling of athletics funding development is almost enough for a whole other team of people.

I'm amused at the enthusiasm to be "all-in" with an athletics fee that few/not all of us actually pay.
