  1. That was the best expression from Jones all day. There was another where one of his assistants was kneeling and having this "OMFG, WHAT ARE WE DOING" look on his face. Priceless.
  2. For Jones supposedly being an offensive genius, Skladany and his boys had SMU's offense more than locked down. They preyed on them all game. 5-6 turnovers isn't defensive play, that's not even aggressive defense, that's going from being on the defense to going on the attack. Which, frankly, that's how you should play defense anyway.
  3. That's a dickbag way to park, right there. I kind of wonder if someone would park like that if people stood and watched them do it. Also, if they don't want paint scratches so badly, they'd park further away, not hog two spaces and risk going from minor scratches to getting keyed up.
  4. I drove to Lubbock a few months back and I have to wonder how Tech sells anyone on going there and how anyone gets sold on living there. That stretch of highway that comes in from the DFW area goes into a part of town that's basically a huge mess.
  5. Sounds like SMU-bro is still upset that the HoD bowl was a HUGE draw for DFW, that SMU has thrown millions of dollars away on Jones with no real payoff, that the Pony Up campaign didn't do squat, and that ESPN did that Pony Excess doc. He real mad, bros.
  6. Nah, they're not even able to live up to that title.
  7. Well, it won't be AS hilarious to compare their band to ours like everyone did at the Heart of Dallas Bowl, but it'll be entertaining.
  8. The best line in the whole article, not just because we're mentioned but because we're mentioned first: “I can tell you North Texas lives here..."
  9. The thing about our offensive system is that it's good when the team can push the other team's defense around (I mean really, which offensive system isn't, right?). It's made to control the clock and beat down a defense until it's just wet paper by the middle of the 3rd quarter. The offense is made so that the running game sets up quick, short-to-medium range passes that keep defenses guessing while wearing them down. The thing is that the coaches didn't seem to have a backup plan in there for when punching the other team in the teeth doesn't work - screens, misdirections, and OL schemes that help make defenders miss assignments so a running lane opens or maybe a receiver gets free. I mean, maybe all of that wouldn't have made a difference - it's not like UT suddenly loss all of its talent between this season and last season. And clearly, what Coach Strong did at Louisville is already in place at UT (which, even not as a UT fan, I like to see this sort of thing happen). That said - holy hell, our defense, man. In bad field position, despite turnovers, and having to play what was probably 50 minutes of a 60 minute game, they didn't really ever cave. They brought their lunchpail to work and kept hitting UT until the last whistle. Don't get me wrong, they missed assignments, made the wrong decisions here and there, but I'd expect some of that given their situation. I do think that if the offense didn't make so many turnovers and even scored, our team would be within 14, maybe even win at UT. And not to be forgotten - the special teams were on point, too. No mistakes, good punts and kicks with good coverage. A few good returns came out of their work, too.
  10. All that money on athletics and that hilarious "Pony Up" campaign and nothing to show for it. I know they so desperately want to be the college team of Dallas, but that's de-facto UT/A&M, then it's us and TCU. They'll never get that status so long as they remain a private school.
  11. Yeah, I think the coaches will want to preserve the redshirt as much as possible. Barring a season-ending injury to someone, I think means keeps his redshirt.
  12. Even if the QB spots story just got broken its not as if we didn't expect this. McNulty is familiar with the system and almost-de-facto since he's been DT's understudy for however many years. Greer has the next highest level of experience, isn't as injury-prone as Williams, and seems to fit the pocket-passer mold our staff collectively prefers. I'm sure that #3 and #4 are Williams and Means, respectively.
  13. The P5 jump-off will probably be what kills the whole machine. Afterwards, some will claim "if the smaller schools didn't such a stink about the BCS, then none of this would happen." And that'll totally gloss over how the BCS schools basically made the system what it was.
  14. Yeah, that's sadly true. I do believe in universities as academic institutions first and foremost, but it seems like the nature of the beast is that athletics play a huge part in assisting the efforts of universities by way of donations and the like unless the university is private and extremely exclusive.
  15. That certainly reflects how I felt about the coaching. I feel like a hurry-up or quick offense would have sealed UTSA away, but the coaching staff didn't put that in until the last seconds of the game. Really, it felt like the coaches were allowing UTSA to dictate the speed of the game when the UNT coaches had opportunities to turn that around.
  16. Maybe we could see Williams moved to another position as a WR or receiving TE? He's certainly got the combination of speed, height/size and agility.
  17. Bad day for UNT sports? This is a bad day for anyone not in the power conferences.
  18. I'm generally for the center - but the city and the two universities had better be ready to line up events to run. It'd be pretty awful if the convention center went up and the bill for it was handed to Denton taxpayers because no one wants to hold an event there. I don't want it to be our version of a failed pro sports team stadium.
  19. It's trolling of the lowest-hanging fruit variety.
  20. "After SMU received the notorious Death Penalty, the Mustangs failed to experience the same success they did in the late 70s and early 80s. In fact, SMU had just one winning season over the next 20 years." Well, when you're cheating at the scale SMU did in that era, it's hard to have that level of success otherwise. But I do agree that Jones is overpaid and should be showing more success than he has. Well, unless UNT is playing him, then he's entirely free to fail hard.
  21. There's one when he's in pads, I think its the facemask doing it. Our guys have these helmets.
  22. It totally fits how garish LA can be. I think these are pretty slick, but not something that needs to overshadow their usual uniforms. Also - that's a Revo Speed helmet. Our guys have them, but not with that OL-style mask.
  23. You gotta ask yourself - if a man barely has respect for science, how much respect will he have for education and research? Will he have the ability to understand that research done at universities has a greater impact than immediate $$?
